The service was very slow and we had to ask for every refill.
Others said food was okay. Crab cake not great. I had the lobster roll and was impressed that is was made with just butter. Fries were great.
Ambiance nice. Food just so-so. Pricey for Baltimore City lunch.
Birthday on reservation not noted by staff Cale dry No ice cream and when questioned answer was chef not used to new menu Nonsense
I would recommend for someone staying at the hotel and wanting a creative menu with good food. While a manager did check with people, the 1:1 service was ok but not overly welcoming and attentive. However, she did do her job.
My husband and booked both a room and dinner for a low key and relaxing New Years Eve together and not only were we not disappointed, we were blown away with the service, hospitality and beauty of the hotel and restaurant.
Rooms was spotless, beautifully decorated and what can I say about the enormous Japanese spa tub except...aaaahhhh!!
Food on the 5 course menu at the Brasserie was beyond delicious and I live the openness of the prep area where I enjoyed watching the chefs put the final touches on everything.
We will be back for Valentines Day weekend.
One night, one time was just not enough.
The food was nothing special. But it was hard working off of a fixed menu for New year's.
This was a typical overpriced restaurant in a overpriced hotel that was listed as 5 star but the only thing 5 star about it was the price. The food portions were tiny ( one crab cake entree for $32!) and all sides were ala carte . I had to ask for a dinner roll and was served a stale obviously previously frozen, mass-produced store bought roll. Nothing 5 star about it .
We were a party of five, on an evening that was fairly empty in the dining room. Service was ok, a little slow, and a little casual for my taste.
I ordered the scallop entree and the cauliflower side. The cauliflower was very good, and enough to share, as promised. The scallops were tasty, but only three medium sized scallops for around $30! I think that’s pretty skimpy. Several others ordered crab cakes which were just ok. New York strip was average. I ordered coconut cream cheese cake for dessert. It was ok, but I couldn’t detect any coconut.
Had a very mediocre lobster salad, with a few additional shrimp for an uncharge. One of the most forgettable $26 salads I've ever had. The only reason we ate here was to use up the $100 Amex food and beverage credit while staying at the Hotel Monaco. Stay at the hotel; eat somewhere else.
The B&O is a solid place--I've had many good meals there. We had oysters (which were good but not great), a delicious burrata salad, scallops that were very tasty, and rockfish which was very good. The rye IPA was delicious. All in all a very nice meal--although not anything real special.
Food was great and we made our play in plenty of time!
Took a friend out to dinner for his birthday. Perfect experience until I went to pay. The first time back the server noticed a drink included in my tab that they weren’t able to make. She had to get the manager to correct it. Like 10 minutes later the manager comes and says “they’ve never encountered a card like mine before and it seems to be incompatible with their system.” A Visa? I offered to go withdraw cash to pay for the dinner and she directed me to the nearest ATM.
On the way I looked in my bank app and they had charged over $600 on my card tying up all of my funds and overdrafting my account on a $250 bill. I found the manager again and explained that I would not be able to pay them until the holds cleared because they had over two times the payment on hold in my account from their earlier errors. I showed her my account and they apologized and offered to comp me the meal. I declined and offered to return after the holds cleared. I asked my fiance to go get cash to tip the server and she suggested I “not worry about that”. I explained at this point that was all I was worried about.
Their accounting people had the holds cleared that night, no easy feat and it speaks volumes to the rest of the organization. So I returned the next day to pay and was told I would have to wait 15-20 minutes for the manager to help me (without even knowing why I was there, to pay for her mistakes). Then she rings everything up under her. I know in restaurants of this caliber that the servers have goals and I don’t think this was fair that she gets to look good when my server did all the work and the manager just screwed things up, disparaged my bank, tried to bs me, showed zero concern for her crew, and stole sales.
I will be checking to see if she’s on duty when I want to come back and walking out if she’s there. There’s not telling what level of service I’m going to get with her at the helm.
The food and service used to be so much better. The crab was missing my crab soup and my water glass was never refilled.
We arrived at 8:10 for the 8:15 reservation and were seated immediately. Unfortunately, in spite of the restaurant being virtually empty, we were not approached by a server. I left to use the restroom and returned to find that a server still had made not contact. It was at that time we decided to leave the restaurant. BIG disappointment!
Typically we always have an excellent dining experience. However this time we ordered the prime rib special and my companion's steak was barely edible. We were comped for her meal but what a disappointment.
Great food and service
Everything was good except when someone walked in and a gust of cold air chilled us out.
Our waiter was very kind and helpful, but the food took such a long time to come out to us and the restaurant was not very busy. It seemed like hostess was part bartender/server so it took about 15 minutes standing by the podium just to be seated. The food was fine, but not really worth the price. Many of the menu items were sold out. The restaurant itself was beautiful but that was one of the only redeeming qualities.
Food was good and the service was great. There is a TV that should be turned off, but restaurant is worth visiting
Everything was fine and food was very good. Could have done without the loud drunken Patriots fan at the bar though. Aside from that...it was a great evening out.
Drove down to MD from NJ to visit my daughter in college. Dining at the B&O was a very nice way to end our day. The food was delicious and the atmosphere quite enjoyable! Dominic was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the cuisine. Overall it was a really pleasant evening!!!
Great food, well prepared - definitely a place to consider when in the Camben Yards vicinity.
The food was fantastic- the service was okay. They could use a few more servers.
Very slow service due to lack of staff. Waitpersons who were there just couldn’t keep up. Breakfast eggs good but had to ask for butter for toast, really? Waffles cold and not edible so sent back. Had to ask for syrup too.
Opening meal painfully slow. Dishes not picked up before main entree served. No fresh silver furnished. Evening food not bad but prime was nearly raw instead of medium rare as ordered. We were too tired to send it back.
Overall very good. Food and wait staff were great. This is my second visit here. Both times I’ve had to wait 5+ minutes at the hostess stand to even be greeted. This is disappointing and should be addressed. I was about to walk out both times, glad I stayed for the food
All round nice
This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. The service, management and food were all extremely poor. We waited an hour to receive our breakfast dishes, which were cold when they arrived. When we asked the manager why it was taking so long, he became argumentative. The sever failed to fill our coffee or bring cream during the hour we sat there. When the food arrived, it was ice cold. One member of our party had eggs Benedict that were inedible. From the rude staff to the extreme wait times to the poor food quality, this was just all around bad. Look elsewhere for dining options...Baltimore is full of better places.
$24 chicken dish was two thighs and a tablespoon of cut asparagus half the size of a pencil. Ordered a martini ($13) & it came in a gimlet glass.
Inattentive waitress—left to get a bottle of wine before half our party was able to order drinks, never refilled our glasses, wasn’t around much. Blah food. The worst burrata I ever had. Won’t be going back.
Excellent customer service. Food portions were on the smaller size but very delicious. Would definitely return again.
Very nice service. French fries were delicious. Meatloaf was dense and tough but decent flavor. Butterscotch cake tasted day old or frozen and thawed.
I liked B&O quite a lot. We enjoyed the duck wings and octopus. Duck wings are meaty and they were larger legs than you’d see in a chicken wing plate. Tasty but not spicy. Octopus was quite good. My husband had the soft shell crabs and liked them but felt they were too salty. I had the lamp chops and thought the portion was larger than most. Still just three but thicker cut and a tad bigger than I’m used to. Delicious. Nicely seasoned. We shared the coconut cheesecake. Smaller serving and I’d say it was okay. Cocktails were very good and our server who was the bartender, was charming and efficient. Dinner was on 9/16/2019. I’d go again, for sure.
a very pleasant evening- excellent food, very good and attentive service, a very warm welcome. we really enjoyed the experience as well as the delicious and creative food.
They took care of both allergies with a professional manner and ensured both of us of a safe meal. It was fantastic.
Food and drinks were great- craft cocktails were on point. Service was great- I have food allergies and they were very careful. I had a delicious salad and some pommes frites. The hotel connected to the restaurant is GORGEOUS! Marble, brass, historic- beautiful.
We waited for 45 min for our breakfast to be served. The quality of the food was quite poor. The breakfast potatoes liked and tasted like cardboard. The yogurt parfait I ordered was a smear on a plate that was warm. I asked for silverware and never received so I had to use a coffee spoon to eat a few bites of warm yogurt. We had to ask the server multiple times to compete our order upon initial delivery. This experience did not result in a good tip which made our server quite aggressive. He actually approached the table and asked if everything was ok. There was zero awareness of his terrible service or apology that we had to wait so long to be served. He also followed me out of the restaurant passive-aggressively “thanking” me for coming in. This was quite possibly the worst service I have ever experienced. I would have shared more with the server or his manager but I was honestly afraid of what he might do. I hope the restaurant sees this feedback and takes appropriate action.
They were out of many items on the menu. We were notified they were out of some items after we had already ordered. Food took a long time to come out and one of us ordered a well-done steak that came in medium. When called out, server offered no apology, took the plate back, had the same steaks cooked for longer and brought back without offering any explanation or apologies.
With instruction.....the food is outstanding. Upstairs seating has pros and cons. I made my reservation with the expectation of being able to enjoy happy hour specials. We were forced to sit upstairs with no access to those specials because there was no room for us downstairs. Poor customer service as far as I'm concerned.
Super great location and great service! Never did get my toast and omelette was a tad salty but my fiancee LOVED his crab cake sandwich. He said it was to die for.
We had an early table reserved, before an event. We were offered a table in the bar, but asked to be seated upstairs and were accommodated with no problem. Banquette seating is very comfortable. Our server, Shayla, was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We ordered a featured cocktail and a glass of wine - both good. We had a well prepared caesar salad, and a burratta salad with a delicious citrus dressing and nice presentation. We also had a good crabcake served with a variety of delicious tomatoes, and a full order of mussels accompanied by a large serving of fresh, crusty bread. All of the items we ordered were generous portions. The crabcake and tomatoes sat in a pool of liquid, which was a little off-putting but the crabcake was not soggy. Also, the crabcake was served with sauce on top but might be better on the side. Despite that, it was very tasty and served at the perfect temperature. We should note that we wanted to order the rockfish entree but it was not available. Overall, a positive experience and a nice meal. We had not been to B&O for several years, and this return visit was a good one. Lastly, a note on service - some recent reviews have been negative, but we thought the front of the house, the kitchen, and our server all were on point.
