Benihana - Bethesda
Reservation was for 6:30 we arrived at 6:20 got seated at 7:00. Finished dinner at 9:00. Service and experience was very rushed. Not to the standards we are use to by any means.
Food is ok but service was terrible. We waited forever even after we were seated and nothing was explained. Both our server and our hibachi chef did not look like they enjoyed their jobs. Would not recommend.
I’ve been here before and it has been fine, but this night was not up to par. We had to wait forever for our chef, and when he came, my order was wrong. In the end, none of us that ordered white rice ever got it. And he had very little interaction with the table. Disappointed.
This was by far the worst experience we have had at Benehani’s. We have noticed coast to coast the quality of Benehani’s has declined. The grill was dirty when we arrived and the service was so delayed. We will make a complaint to corporate.
The service was excellent...was seated immediately upon arrival and accommodated shortly after. Food was ok, lacked a variety of options. A tad bit overpriced, but the experience was good...would go back.
Enjoyed every minute. Best place to go with my queen. Service outstanding, clean family friendly. I definitely look forward to returning for my daughters birthday party in a few weeks.
Expected to be at a table for 2 and not 8. Reservations should be more clear about seating arrangements.
Not enough staff. Meal took forever.
Service was good, there was a bit of waiting time before the main "attraction" but overall good experience.
Something got screwed up. We had a 6:45 reservation and were seated at about 7:30. It was jammed. But we always enjoy going there and you have no doubt about how your food was prepared. Must have been the Valentines day rush. We'll go back.
615 reservation still not seated at 700 Rude and disorganized.
As regular customers we were surprised by an exceptionally long wait for our chef, drastically reduced menu, increased prices ($4 more for chicken-fried rice), no bottled beers (only can). The food quality was okay, but even there, our chef left the grill midway to go get more rice for our table (prep did not give him enough), and our filet entrees were missing the mushrooms listed in the menu. The floors were full of food and debris, the ladies’ room was filthy and out of paper towels. We’ve been to and enjoyed meals at this location many times before, but we were shocked and disappointed at the downturn in our experience on this particular occasion. Not sure we’ll be back.
Did not enjoy my experience at all. One couple that was sitting at my table were constantly speaking Spanish to the cook the entire time and he was laughing and interacting with them but ignore myself and the other couple who did not speak Spanish. Also the food was cooked inpeotions and spread apart too far so instead of eating the veggies with the onions I ended up having a full plate of onions with nothing to go with it. To top it off the soup was cold and the salad had a speck of dried rice on it. Not impressed at all.
Everybody there was great ! Good service and food
Birthday celebration and always fun to have your food freshly prepared as you like it!
This place took Valentine’s Day reservations and still had a wait they ran out of rice rushed cooked the food which had no taste rushed us out of the restaurant because they were late closing due to overbooking was not to mention150$ for two people I do not recommend
The service is horrid , the chefs are very boring and rude ! It took so long for my food to finish that my rice and chicken was completely ice cold. It’s just not welcoming at all here.
Waited over 30 minutes for a table reservation for 8:30pm. 9:00pm rolls in still no acknowledgement or service ended up leaving they probably didnt even notice. Won't be returning or recommending any time soon unless they step up there management and retrain the host(ess)
It's a little snug with other people around the table, but the food, Service and ambiance made up for it!
The chef we received did not season the food at all. No salt, no pepper. The chicken was cooked so long without seasoning that it ended up tasting like cardboard. The chicken was inedible and awful. I go to Benihana every year for Valentines Day for 20 years and this meal was the worst meal I've ever had from Benihana. I was super disappointed in the quality of the food.
We loved every minute of it and we will return with the kids
It seemed like the waitress just started there
Everything was great! I made a reservation and I didn’t wait no longer than 5 mins. My chef was great his name was Joel. He was excellent great entertainment. For my first time and it being on Valentine’s Day it was a blast!
Food was very good, including the sushi, and the chef was very engaging. The 2 knocks on the night were the rushed service and overall ambiance. We have been coming to this restaurant for the last 4 years, usually for a birthday, and will most likely continue to do so.
I had never been to a Hibachi restauarnt, so this was an experience. Sitting at a shared table with another famly threw me off a little, but then i got used to it. Expect that everyone next to you can hear your conversation. Our server was very gracious and he let my friend and i split the meal (~$30 per person, so $15 per person) and was very generous with bringing us two of everything so we can eat comfortably. We had our chef do a demonstration for us which was fun to watch.
The food was a good proportion, i had to order a side of Hibachi fried rice because the meal options/entrees didn't have that. We had shrimp and chicken deluxe; lots of shrimp. The salad had a nice dressing on it, and the onion soup was falvourful without being overpoweringly onion-y. Everything was good because it came out hot, but i would need to compare to other restaurants to really know how this one ranks. Overall it was a nice experience, food was hot and plentiful!
Joel was an excellent chef! We may try to request him every time we come in.
They were extremely short staffed. We waited over an hour to start getting served our meal....and we had young kids with us. I wasn’t able to order a second glass of wine because nobody came to ask for refills.
It was my daughter’s bday and it took a while to get anything on the table. 😩
The service was terrible! We sat for a long time at a table that had not been cleared before being attended to. A full hour after being seated, the hibachi chef came over to the table. He was excellent.
I really enjoyed myself. The food was good and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Only adjustments was there was no host to greet us at the door and our waiter took a long time to check back on us.
We got there at 8 pm for an 8:30 reservation for two. We weren't seated until 10 pm. We didn't finish our meal until 11:30 pm. The chef didn't do any fun tricks. The drink service was terrible. Other tables who had sat down 45 minutes after us were getting served salad and soup before we got ours. My shrimp and my chicken were disgustingly undercooked. The other parties at our table dined and dashed and nobody did anything about it. It was a bizarre, awful experience, and I can't believe I paid $80 for it.
Annual bday dinner with our daughter!
The only issue I had was the wait time. My husband and I had a reservation yet we weren’t seated until 40 minutes after our reservation time. Then it took another 45 min before we can actually eat. Other than that, everything else was great!
We were seated almost an hour after our reservation. No one seemed to care. Poor management, obviously short staffed. We didn't receive half of the things we asked for and couldn't get the waitresses attention as she was never around. Poor quality. I won't be going back anytime soon.
The service was terrible. We had a reservation for 6:45 and didn’t get seated until 7:15. Drinks took way too long to be served and I only ordered water. Our waiter was MIA for most of the meal and didn’t bring out the rice until I was halfway through eating my entree. Other people were unhappy with the service and general management as well so the atmosphere was very frustrated and tense and all in all it was not a good dining experience. We will not be coming back here.
This was a typical Benihana, what was real good was the service that was provided by the waiter and the chef.
The food was excellent, i had the steak and chicken and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken fried rice was also really good but an additional $4 per bowl is a bit of stretch when other places offer fried rice included or for $2 more.
Service was pretty decent, the chef did an excellent job but my waitress wasn’t the friendliest and took some time refilling our drinks.
Overall was a good experience and would return.
We always have a great time at Benihana. Yesterday, we had a vegetarian friend with us who ordered the tofu. The chef cooked the tofu first which was great but then used the same utensils on the chicken and the tofu. It would be great if the chefs could be cautioned to exercise more sensitivity when cooking for vegetarians.
Awesome service for me. Just an FYI I saw a larger man chef who did absolutely no show for their table! I had the same experience previously and that is why I requested a super kid friendly chef who puts on a show, and it was provided. People spend a lot of money there please give them a show! My other experience where the chef didn’t put on a show had my kids asking.. “daddy when does the show start?!?” About 50 times throughout dinner. But this time was awesome
I was not impressed with the food nor the ambiance of the Bethesda Benihana. I could have stayed local and have gone to Sakura and experienced a similar dining experience. I feel like this restaurant was very over-rated and i will not return.
