Very good experience. Good service and attentive waiter
Really poor service. There was a big table of foreigner diplomats next to us and all the waiters focused on them and not on us. Bad attitude of our server.
As usual, our dinner for four was superb. The freshest mussels I’ve had in ages in a light and delightful sauce, wonderful pasta dishes, all one would expect from Milano and, luckily, the best table in the house.
On a suitably busy Saturday evening.
Service was splendid and good great, but was someone playing with the speaker system? The voice volume is already a little high and the sound system would come on sporadically. Grilled Octopus appetizer was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely.
Definitely worth a visit if you like fine dining and watching where the beautiful people gather. Food was of the highest quality, service was as well. I highly recommend the waygu beef.
amazing!! food was delicious
First time dining here on a whim due to the reputation, but we did not feel the experience or food met the high reputation of cafe milano. While the food was good and we had no complaints with flavor (sausage pizza, lobster linguine, Alaskan Cod & rib eye short rib) our table agreed it was ridiculously over-priced. For the cost of the meal, we’d expect larger portions, and truly divine flavors. At the price point, the food was mediocre. (Especially the pizza, we really were not impressed with the pizza).
The ambiance and service did not make up for the food in the price point. It was really noisy and hard to have conversation. Our waiter forgot to bring liquor drinks and we had to remind him after our appetizer pizza was dropped. After that, the service did feel semi-rushed as other diners have suggested.
Ultimately, the food was good, but not exceptional. At the price point, we will not be back.
As always the service and food was impeccable! Always one of my places to dine when I come to DV,
Café Milano is lovely. The perfect setting for a date, girls night out or dinner with family. I shared the Sea Bass and a pasta dish and it was divine. Café Milano offers the finest Italian food in the area. A must for real foodies.
Great Italian food and service! My wife had Osso Buco and I enjoyed the Roasted Veal Chop as our main course. Both were prepared perfectly! We are traveling to Milan soon and they even gave us some recommendations for restaurants in Milan and Lake Como. I only wish the restaurant was in Los Angeles so that we could be a regular The restaurant will definitely be on our list when we make our next visit to Washington, DC.
Love Cafe Milano. One of my favorite places to dine in DC.
Some of the best Italian that I have had in awhile! I had the spaghetti with clams and it was to die for.
Staff is great - management of them is lacking. Dusting AC over our table and our food was a new experience. Apology was lacking.
Good kitchen nice service. One of the place where you have to be in dc.
Only profit was very noisy. Otherwise Sandy was adorable.
Great service and dining culture
Great Veal, Pasta and fish
I must have dined here 50 times but tonight something stood out so much that it's brought back similar dining memories that I don't appreciate/didn't realize at the time.
Milano is a special place (with special prices) but they rush you so much that it's insulting. We ordered starter pizzas, a couple of appetizers then entrees. Entrees were CLEARED 50 minutes after we arrived. Apps were delivered before the last person finished their pizza then servers hovered with entrees before even clearing app plates. Dessert menus dropped and 1 minute later waiter returned to take our order. That's when I finally realized what was happening and sent him away for a bit.
Coffee refill request was initially ignored in favor of dropping the check.
So, yes, Milano is still very good but be sure to either stretch out your ordering or don't let them drop next course until everyone is done.
It was up to the reputation to the Milano!
Great food. Great service. Cafe Milano never disappoints.
While we liked the placement of our table, we found ourselves speaking loudly to each other. The food was good but not great and the service was slow and often inattentive.
We had a nice early dinner after Hamilton. The service was good but service transactional. I felt rushed through the meal so they could turn the table for a 6:30/7 reservation. With so many dining options available in DC, you may want to spend your money where you'll be genuinely appreciated.
We typically love the pasta dishes here. But found today’s tagliatelle zegna very bland and overly saucy. My wife’s tagliolini porcini also not up to usual standard
Café Milano is my favorite restaurant in Washington, DC, the ambiance is extraordinary, the service is great, the food
is outstanding and the wine collection is
truly good. The pastas are great and the fish as well.
very good food and service. relaxed atmosphere. convenient location.i
Pretentious without reason. I can appreciate a snobby restaurant if the service is professional and the food is exceptional. NOT the case here! Made to feel like second class citizens. Arrived on time for our reservation. Made to wait for 15mins so they can seat us in a side dinning room away from the ‘general population’ after being told there was no more room in the main dining room. When we asked to be seated on the patio, they reluctantly accommodated. The waiter was argumentative, judgemental and hovered over us like a helicopter so as to get rid of us faster. The food arrived extra fast and was sub standard for the reputation this place has. When the skies opened up they escorted is back in to main dining room where to our amazement we found plenty of empty tables. I guess we didn’t fit in with the Washington elite. The bill for my fish and 2 drinks came to $106.45. When the waiter asked if I would need some change I said no and left him $110. He promptly returned my change of $3.55 in a huff. We dcided to take our time and finish our coffees in the resultant awkwardness.
PS. The side room also happened to be hosting a family of 20 or so people of the muslim persuasion. I guess they didn’t fit in with the Washington elite as well!
Service was courteous and timely. The sea bass came loaded with bones. The veal chop (Milano style) was like a dry, cheap chicken fried steak. Should have come with sausage gravy. The shrimp risotto was excellent. I expected high prices. I just expected to get outstanding food in return. Bottom line: disappointing.
Impeccable service, innovative cuisine.
The noise in the restaurant is unusually loud making it difficult to carry on a conversation. Tables are very close so having a romantic dinner is out of the question. Staff is extremely accommodating and gracious - definitely at a 5 star level. The food is very good but not necessarily outstanding when compared to other 4-5 star restaurants. The women's restroom was in horrible shape with toilet paper and hand towels all over the floor - un-flushed toilets and water running in a sink. I reported it and the front desk staff were very apologetic. They should be checking the restrooms periodically so this type of "gas-station" situation doesn't go unnoticed.
I was seated at a table under a speaker. It wasn't music coming out just a thumping head pounding bass. I made these reservations 3 months in advance and I am put at a table in a spot more befitting a potted plant. This is a fine place if you're one of those people who thinks it's necessary to speak at the top of your lungs. I couldn't converse at my table for the noise but I was able to overhear lots of other people's business. This was my 3rd visit so I guess the 3rd times the charm. This will be my last. Arreviderci.
Wedding Anniversary weekend.
One of the best dinners I have ever had. Great outside seating. Pasta is excellent. Bronzino was fabulous. Service was excellent. Possibly our best dining experience at a restaurant anywhere
Wonderful, as always. And they even brought our daughter out a beautiful cake with a sparkler for her birthday. Perfect end to an excellent meal.
Do not recommend. Service was terrible. Food was overpriced and not very good.
Best place in Georgetown
There were eight of us in our party. Water, bread, and bussing was very prompt. For our food, five entrees came out together and it was about 5min until the other three arrived.
I ordered the linguine with lobster, recommended by the waiter as one of their most popular dishes. The linguine was ok. The lobster tail was still attached to the shell. I tried to delicately remove the small chunks from the shells, which wasn’t so delicate when one shot across the table, along with a lot of red sauce. Fortunately, I didn’t get it on anyone at the table. For $42, I don’t think my meal should have come with some assembly required. No one else was overly impressed with their meals either.
I think I will skip this place in the future.
Food and service couldn’t have been better. Will definitely return soon!
Cafe Milano has been my favorite restaurant for over 20 years. I always feel I'm in Europe dinning at a very elegant restaurant.
We like the food and atmosphere at Cafe Milano very much. It’s an charming place to eat in hectic Georgetown.
Great food , service and atmosphere !
