Tucked away beneath the arches of Charing Cross, Champagne Charlies is ideally located for wining, dining and entertaining. The wood panelling, exposed brick, intimate alcoves and candelit tables make for a cosy yet rustic ambiance. Our heritage as part of Davy’s wine merchants guarantees an extensive cellar, alongside the best in craft beers, premium spirits and soft drinks. Port is always decanted and Davy’s Old Wallop real ale is served in pewter tankards or half gallon copper jugs. Menus are created using fresh, seasonal produce, celebrating classic British fare with something for everyone.

We were searching for a place while visiting london that was open for reservations. When we arrived the host said we didn’t have a reservation and that the restaurant was out of most things. Desperate to rest after a long day of touring London by foot, we decided to grab a drink and collect our thoughts. In the end, we shared the welcome we got from the host with the waitress who put us at ease. We decided to stay for dinner. The food was ok, not bad but nothing special. What we really enjoyed (and needed) were the drinks and quiet atmosphere.

I don’t know if this is an authentic British dining experience, but for us American tourists it was exactly what we were looking for. I had bangers and mash and was happy!

A friend had recommended and this was my first visit. I’ll definitely be going back, we had a great evening. A warm welcome, efficient, friendly service, great food, excellent choice of drinks (including champagne of course) good atmosphere and reasonable prices.

We were in London on the last few days of our trip. Looking for a place for dinner convenient to our hotel near Charing Cross Station. Champagne Charlie’s exceeded our expectations. The food was very good and the staff friendly and helpful.

Fantastic place - love going underground to eat and drink, feels like you are entering a secret club. Service was brilliant, I cannot remember our waitresses name but she was very good - brought my Dad three red wines to try to help him make up his mind. Very knowledgeable about the wine and food on offer. Although a smallish menu - it was still difficult to choose as everything sounded so good (when small I always think you know its cooked fresh) I had the pate to start, chicken for main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert - all were amazing. Good atmosphere - you weren't on top of each other but all tables taken so had a nice vibe. Thoroughly recommend and I will be back :)

We had a very pleasant dining experience in Champagne Charlies early evening. The food was very good value, the house wine smooth, the service attentive and we were able to hear each other speak. I would definitely go again.

We were tucked away at the back of the restaurant by the fire door, possibly the worst table available. There were many vacant tables and they were still vacant when we left so I'm not sure why we couldn't have been seated where there was better ambiance. We were the only people in that part of the restaurant. Very dissapointing.

For groups of over 5 this is ideal as you are seated away from the main bar area. Staff very attentive and good menu choices.

We booked a table for two for a pre-theatre meal, and the service was so prompt, efficient and friendly that we had more than enough time to have a relaxed meal. We were also impressed by the size of the place – it's much larger than its inauspicious frontage may suggest.

We chose the pre-theatre menu. Although the choice was a little limited we were very pleased with our choices of pate to start, sausage and mash for mains and the cheese board for dessert. The house white wine was perfectly acceptable as well. The service was efficient and not obtrusive. We had booked a table for 18:00 and there were no other customers in our area throughout the time we were there. We would happily dine there again.

Went for NYE, food was good. Was extremely quiet and no music playing. Also found a little annoying that throughout all 4 of our courses no one asked if everything was okay, just collected our plates without saying a word.
