Clyde's of Georgetown
I’d give the food a B+. The restaurant was quite noisy though being in the back room helped. Our service was very good. It’s a good spot for a large gathering in Georgetown.
Mussels were tiny. My son’s “medium” steak was brown throughout. Beer was tasty. Nice ambiance. Service was attentive at the beginning of the meal but then disappeared once the food arrived. Took a long time to find her to pay.
Great environment, great service, great food. Perfect date spot. If you haven't been here yet, definitely give it a try
Good ambiance, courteous and friendly staff. Food of highest quality. I selected scallops from a menu with a good variety of choices. So often a scallop dish will come with only two or three but this had seven, trimmed large scallops, served on a bed of farro ("a bit like barley" said the waiter when I asked). Excellent. My dining companion had a perfectly cooked very tasty burger.
On a more practical note, when I went to the restrooms one of the cubicles was out of paper. I mentioned this to the nearest waiter and someone was there to replenish in an instant.
There was no checkbox for this but I would recommend Clyde's for it's service, urban location, and consistency. Clyde's does not have an outstanding dish but it's comfortable and satisfying. And the coffee is excellent.
Service was notable. We had reservations for Sunday brunch but we did not like our table. I was with a friend who uses a cane and the table was squashed between 2 other tables. The hostess tried to make excuses at first but then found us more suitable and safe seating. She must have listened when we gave our reason for the change because after our meal a gentleman appeared to escort my friend, arms hooked, through the crowded restaurant.
Clyde’s is consistently excellent. A great neighborhood place, with the inherent overflow of tourists. Both get to enjoy their time spent with the ambiance, consistent quality of food and a couple great bar areas to select from inside. My favorite is without question the Crab Tower. It’s been modified over the years, but it’s still my favorite. Paired with a nice Sauvignon Blanc, there is no better light lunch, or appetizer.
The food was excellent and absolutely delicious. I had the Belgian waffle and my mouth is still watering. Service was superb. Watchful eye. There when we needed something. Had a great time. Plan to visit again.
Good, solid pub-themed bar and restaurant, in an excellent Georgetown location on the main M Street NW drag. Two bars, several dining areas and part of a regional small chain. Innovative menu, along with classics, and fresh, well-prepared selecions. The night we went, we were seated next to a large table with 8 guests, 4 of which were small children, noisy and not well-controlled by their parents, which took away from a nice night on the town for us, but the great service and server made up for the small detraction. Good stop when in the area.
We ordered the buffalo chicken wings and the crab stack for Happy Hour which was delicious. When we returned for dinner, I was very disappointed with the crab cake. It was small and soggy. Therefore, the low rating.
The food at Clyde's never disappoints. Our waitress was fantastic. Only complaint - there is very little room between the door and the host stand. The host seemed very overwhelmed and we had to wait to be seated, even though we had a reservation. Because there were 10-15 people waiting, the door to the outside was open, because there was a line, allowing cold air to blow straight into the restaurant.
Lovely dinner, the butternut squash ravioli ❤️ Great service, will be back
I HAVE BEEN A REGULAR AT CLYDE'S FOR MANY YEARS. THE MANAGEMENT SHOULD BE GIVEN THE HIGHEST RATING BECAUSE THEY NOT ONLY CHOOSE GOOD EMPLOYEES AND PAY THEM WELL, BUT THEY MOTIVATE THEM TO FIND SATISFACTION IN DOING A FIRST RATE JOB. IT IS GRATIFYING TO SEE EMPLOYEES WHO TREAT THEIR COLLEAGUES WITH THE SAME RESPECT AND GOOD HUMOR AS THEIR CUSTOMERS.
Manager and Waiter Scott made my family and I feel like family . I rarely receive service like this and would like to applaud them for going the extra mile. Thanks again.
Terrible experience! not only was it difficult to find parking in Gtown, once we got there we waited 1 hour for entrees that never arrived. Most likely our waitress forgot to put our order in. After I alerted the manager, the food appeared but not before we decided to leave. We ended up boxing up our food, it was comped due to the hour + wait and poor service. When I got back to the office, my order was wrong. Bad experience all around!
First time dining in the DC area and wanted to find a spot in the georgetown area. Good energetic atmosphere and excellent service.
It has a great atmosphere, excellent venue for taking visitors and soak up the Georgetown vibe. Nice food and good quality.
Good food but bad service.
Food was overcooked and lacked flavor. Meat was tough. Server was not very responsive. Pretty dissapointed
We like going to Clyde's for a just a bite, or something more such as lunch or even dinner. As well as cocktails, or wine. The staff is great. The prices are reasonable. From comfort food to sea food.
There is a wide variety of food offerings that please most!
We were in Georgetown for the afternoon and made a reservation ahead of time for 2. We showed up 10 minutes late due to traffic and finding parking and with the addition of our daughter at the last minute. The host was very understanding and accommodating! Though we had to squeeze into a tiny corner booth, we were seated fairly quickly.
As for the food, it was good. The portion sizes are not very generous and the quality is just ok. The service was excellent however. My impression is that this is a longstanding restaurant in Georgetown that has a solid reputation to fall back on. The place was very busy and tight quarters, so they may be limited in just how creative they can get:)
The food was excellent as usual, apart from that I am still wondering why there was a lemon seed in my cappuccino. Our server was under training, but did an great job. They had honored my rrquest for table. So overall very good experience again.
Terrific meal. Fabulous service. One of the very best meals we’ve had this year anywhere in the US.
Service was great. Arrived at the time of our reservation and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly and knew the menu well. We listened to her suggestions and were not disappointed. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Overall, a fine experience.
I was recently visiting friends in DC . I loved the food so much at Clyde’s we ate there 3 times in 4 days!! I had the crab cakes 2 times best I ever had. The drinks coffee brunch were awesome too . I live in Dallas Texas wish we had Clyde’s there!!
Great food, service and ambiance! Highly recommend!!
A special surprise that will keep us returning to Georgetown, specifically for Clyde's! Thanks for the experience, amazing food and to our Waitress. Cheers!

Our waitress was wonderful but apologized for the slow service as they were short staffed. Service was slow but fortunately we were on vacation & in no hurry. Lovely atmosphere, food & cocktails were good. Good location in Georgetown.
Food was very good. Service was ok. We ordered soups that never arrived. We had to remind the waitress to take them off the bill. Small cramped table and uncomfortable chairs.
We had a delicious crab and artichoke appetizer with fresh bread. All our food choices were excellent. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and fun.
Our server was wonderful, food was good but really noisy and no working salt grinders.
Great food and service. We had a good time.
Service was slow and not great. It was a birthday lunch — was not extremely impressed. It was fine, but meh. The food was good, but the service was lackluster and there were a ton of flies landing on our food and drinks.
Overall the device was very good. Coffee was strong and good.
Very nice. Great lobster. Good service. We will return!
Our server Jack was absolutely amazing! He made recommendations and was extremely helpful. Couldn’t ask for a better dinner!
Really tasty food. Really tasty drinks. Great service. Thanks Ben (our waiter).
Great lobster special for the rest of September. A 1 1/4 lb very fresh Maine lobster Nd fries for $20. Great deal on a tasty lobster that has not sat in a tank for days. I tried the lobster Shepard pie at same price and while very tasty the lobster in it was a very small specimen. Stick with the whole lobster if a lobster fan.
Everything went fine except for one incident. I reserved and arrived early. I checked in and they seated me around the corner in the inner dining room. My guest arrived on time and was told that I had not arrived. She sat at the bar for 10 minutes or more before she got up to go to the restroom and saw me. Otherwise, we both ordered the lobster special, which was very good in size, very good in price and very good in taste.
Lovely steak. Recommended
