In 1976 local musician and entrepreneur Harvey Platt had the idea to bring a slice of America to Norwich after working for and with the American war machine in South East Asia and a later visit to San Francisco to meeting up with former musician buddies.Harvey had the opportunity to purchase an old café caravan situated on Castle Meadow Norwich next to the old cattle market.Zaks opened in May 1976 serving the now famous chargrilled burgers in the “Original Zaks Caravan” wrapped in tin foil and cooked fresh to order in the American tradition.If it is an authentic American dining experience you are looking for then Zaks is your kind of place.     We use your restaurant for regular meetings and find it works well for us all as we come from different parts of the country and as my wife is disabled and uses a wheelchair it is very convenient and we love it 👏

    Namaste Village provides superbly prepared food, as offered in an extensive and imaginative menu, on a relaxing, authentic setting. Our server, Sanda, was very responsive to our needs. We loved the claypot 12-vegetable stew with fenugreek dumplings and the grilled paneer with tomato-cashew sauce.

    Such a fabulous restaurant in such a beautiful village! I took my husband here for his birthday and we absolutely loved it. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The whole experience felt warm and welcoming, with friendly and attentive service. A lovely setting, wonderful food and such a welcoming atmosphere — we’ll definitely be back 😀
