Merrick Inn, construido antes de la Guerra Civil, fue remodelado totalmente por la familia Cal Milam en 1936, y sirvió como casa de campo para uno de los mejores ranchos de caballos de Lexington. Merrick Place es donde Milam y su novio, el Sr. Johnson, entrenaron al legendario Exterminator, ganador del derby de Kentucky en 1918. También aquí comenzaron su camino a la fama y la fortuna Tut Tut, Komuraski, Commodore, Brown Wisdom, Miss Joy, Milkmaid, McKee y Dust Flower, aunque ninguno de ellos obtuvo tanta fama como Merrick, que ganó 157 premios y 62 carreras. El Merrick Inn ha sido gestionado en propiedad por la familia Murray durante casi 40 años, y sigue ofreciendo especialidades innovadoras y lo mejor de la gastronomía sureña tradicional. Restaurante tranquilo con una temática vintage, exquisita comida y buenas bebidas, tienen servicio de valet parking y el servicio es genial. (No es barato, pero vale la pena la experiencia)
