In 1976 local musician and entrepreneur Harvey Platt had the idea to bring a slice of America to Norwich after working for and with the American war machine in South East Asia and a later visit to San Francisco to meeting up with former musician buddies.Harvey had the opportunity to purchase an old café caravan situated on Castle Meadow Norwich next to the old cattle market.Zaks opened in May 1976 serving the now famous chargrilled burgers in the “Original Zaks Caravan” wrapped in tin foil and cooked fresh to order in the American tradition.If it is an authentic American dining experience you are looking for then Zaks is your kind of place.     My husband and I came across The Gamekeeper whilst we were away for the weekend. We wasn't really expecting much with it being a pub, but we were pleasantly surprised, it was a stunning place and the service was second to none, the food was outstanding, we both had steak and it was the best steak we have ever had. We highly recommend The Gamekeeper

    Fabulous as always! Pie night………absolutely delicious!! The chef has certainly upped his game, super tasty homemade pies, with creamy mash and superb gravy! Side orders were delicious too.

    We came last night for my daughters birthday and was very pleased with the service from the staff We were made aware that there was back lock in the kitchen and we were given complimentary nibbles while we wait The food was amazing

    Our server, Lily, was great. It was my daughter's birthday and she and the other servers sang happy birthday to her and brought out a dessert, complete with candle. Lots of other diners sang and clapped too. It was really lovely. Kids bento boxes are a great deal and work well for kids. Food and drink is really great and the app works well.
