Very comfortable ambiance, excellent appetizers, pasta, service. My husband found it noisy, and I didn’t - my moderate noise rating is thus an average. Our server was really outstanding - gave good advice on food and wine.
Really good food. Quiet. Intimate. Only complaint is the place kind of smells like cats. Floriana is on the first level of what appears to be a converted townhouse. It smells like the person that lived on that first floor before the conversion had cats. But, my nose adjusted and I forgot about the smell.
We were celebrating our 27th anniversary and wanted to dine somewhere that had ambiance and great food. Our nephews recommended Floriana and it did not disappoint. It was quaint and the food was beyond compare. The service was phenomenal - from the bar area to the waiter to the manager. Outstanding all around. I would highly recommend! Make your reservations in advance.
This is a great restaurant with a lot of ambience! There is a cozy bar down the steps from the entrance to the restaurant. The restaurant has several rooms in a house with great service, great food and lots of locals! Would definitely come here again. And being from SFO, I thought the prices were moderate.
Great food, knowledgeable wait staff... no rushing. . Enjoyable night
Food was great. Service was not.
After I arrived I had to wait a while to talk to my server. My choice of wine had to be cooled. They brought the first course before the wine, something I have never experienced. The courses were brought by staff who seemed to shove the food on my table rather than serve it. The server had very little time for me. The noise was deafening even though it is a tiny restaurant. The food was very good but too salty.
Fantastic service, Amazing experience!
Ask for Michael and you won't be disappointed. Whatever you choose for your meal you can't go wrong.
I been a client of Floriana for yeeeeeeeaaarsssss and not planning on changing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have gone by this place many times. I finally went in. Its fantastic! Its a little loud but you get used to it. I will certainly go back again.
Floriana is an excellent Italian restaurant. It is quite a find in DC where good Italian food is hard to come by. Everything on the menu is delicious. The diver scallop, shrimp risotto was fabulous as was the lamb gnocchi. The lasagna is beef and cheese and the ravioli was delicious. All pastas are made there and served al dente. Salads are big enough to share with one other diner and the bruschetta included several types of tomatoes. Desserts are super too. We have not been disappointed by this restaurant. Also, this restaurant serves everyone, they are woke. The only downside is the noise level.
The food was outstanding and the service exceptional.
1/2 Price Bottles of wine on Wednesdays is a good deal.
Nice pasta! They cook the pasta al dente. When you want is more cooked just ask
Great neighborhood restaurant. Quality and creative food for the price. Our service was less than outstanding, but I would give Floriana another chance. The food was delicious.
We had high expectations after several good reviews. However our orders were misinterpreted on three occasions and we felt the quality of the service and food to be disappointing.
We were offered a free dessert as compensation but by that point we were ready to leave.
We like this restaurant for the overall pleasant dining experience. However, this time the small salad I ordered had about 3 oz of greens and very little other ingredients. By comparison I order small salads in many other places, but none have ever been this tiny. To the restaurant’s credit, at my request they did give me more greens at no extra charge. But the value is just not there anymore. Excellent service!
Very good food. Service, while pleassnt and willing, is not particularly polished, e.g., the protocol for serving wine seems to be missing.
Family dinner with carnavors, veggies and picky child. Service attentive. Food was excellent. Ambience was a little dark but low noise level. Chosen because we need to cater for all food types and have a catch up family chat which all worked. Highly recommend and I was able to get a table for 7 on day of dining yet the restaurant was full. Little surprise to have a 20% tip applied but then I am British. Great place, great food.
Great, as always. A fun place to take a visiting friend, as the locale is perfect for people-watching. The food is wonderful. The ambiance is terrific.
We had a great time! Service, food , and atmosphere were all perfect for celebrating our anniversary.
Food was outstanding! Every appetizer and entry were exceptionally fresh. The lamb and gnocchi dish was super flavorful with the gnocchi like soft pouches of dough. Dining outside was great. The bartender and wait staff were fun and helpful. Definitely going back.
One our last meals before moving to Colorado and had to have the black gnocchi appetizer one more time. The remainder of our meal was just as memorable and made more so by our fabulous waiter. Try to get an outdoor table on a beautiful evening and you won't regret it.
Excellent Food! Faded elegance. Good service. Attentive host.
We ate outside and had great food, excellent service and amazing weather.
Love Floriana. We love the half price wine nights and the staff is always professional and helpful.
We went during restaurant week on Sunday when they also have 1/2 off bottles of wine. Their wine list is quite good. Every dish was delicious in particular the tortellini mignon, the squid ink gnocchi and the lamb gnocchi. The manager came around several times checking that we were being well taken care of and toward the end of the meal the owner came by to thank us for coming. We will certainly go back.
Food is amazing, and I love the ambiance. It's a converted house and the inside is nice and intimate without being too close to your neighbors.
Service was very friendly and fast. The food was average, which was disappointing because the menu looked so good. It was restaurant week but that should be no excuse for food quality.
Appetizers - burrata and mussels. Burrata needed coarse salt and pepper added to dish. Mussels and broth were excellent!
Entree's - gnocchi with braised lamb - gravy literally tasted like a beef powdered gravy pack from the store, it was way too concentrated I could not even taste the lamb.
Mama's Sunday gravy - not enough marinara sauce, meat was extremely chewy, overcooked and dry
Desserts - chocolate mousse and tiramisu both excellent!
Food is really fantastic and so is service. Only issue is it’s very very dark. Decor could be updated
My husband and I went to dinner at Floriana for restaurant week and also as a last date night before our baby arrives (could be any day now). We had been to Floriana once before with some friends and remembered that it had a great ambiance and the food was delicious. The restaurant is very cozy and beautifully decorated, the food is exceptionally good, and the service was great. Everyone was extremely professional and friendly. Also, the manager noticed (it's hard to miss) that I am pregnant and brought me a delicious "mock-tail" so that I could have something a bit more fun to drink than just water. All in all, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you haven't already.
Birthday was the occasion for my friend. We had a great time and happened to be there on half price wine night. Score!
Food was delicious- try the shrimp and scallops risotto! Great service, reasonable price
I often come to Floriana and I always enjoy my meals, but this time my service was not that great. It was not because of my server but it was because of how long we all had to wait for our entrees. The table next to us got seated 20 minutes after we arrived and ordered a long time after us. They had finished their entrees and desserts before our entree had even arrived. I understand that sometimes things can happen in the kitchen and it can get backed up, but while your guests are waiting, at least offer us something while we wait.
Highly recommend the food here if you enjoy fresh pasta. Ordered the lasagna which didn't dissappoint (especially since it was loaded with house made mozzarella)! My girlfriend had the gnocchi, also amazingly fresh. Ambiance, attentive staff, and delicious food moderately priced means I'll be back for certain next time I'm in DC. Thank you Floriana!
One of our favorites! A true neighborhood gem, we always enjoy it!
Unique Italian restaurant not far from Dupont Circle. It was unique in that it was not part of a chain, and it did seem to have authentic ingredients. The food was well prepared and we were definitely not rushed during our meal. Waiters seated us immediately, thanks to our Open Table reservation, and gave us options for seating. They frequently filled our water glasses from a wine-type bottle, a nice touch. We had plenty of time to enjoy our bottle of wine. I thought the wait staff acted very professional, something that is hard to define, but you know it when you see it. They were prompt, polite, and non-intrusive.
The restaurant is located in a "row-house" or town home, and has the original walls and staircase which made for a great atmosphere. We sat in front with a window view of the street. Tables are rather close, but still, you can carry on a conversation. There was outside seating, but on a balmy night, all seats were taken.
I'd recommend this Floriana for date dinners, or quiet evenings in DC.
Everything was excellent from the appetizers through to desert. Manager and staff will go out of their way to make sure you have a great dining expierence.
Best risotto I've ever had. One person in our party couldn't decide what he wanted and asked the server to surprise him. The server brought him two small entrees which were delicious and suggested the appropriate wine. Everyone in our party said they would return.
Always love Floriana! Love the food - try the Sunday Gravy. Such a cozy place.
