This has grown to be my go-to spot. I haven't found pasta better than Floriana's, and the ambiance is like being in someone's house. I will continue to go back, recommend the gnocchi.
Beautiful, cozy ambiance with excellent service. Incredible homemade Italian food - the lamb gnocchi is one of the best dishes of all-time! Ideal restaurant for small groups, as the restaurant is inside a renovated DC townhome, and therefore not many tables did more than 6. There is a space upstairs that can host a large group for private dining. Will definitely return!
Excellent food and service. Great menu, from classics to new twists on old dishes. Recommend!
Fantastic food and atmosphere. The restaurant is in an old brownstone house and there are two levels of dinning plus a front patio. We are lucky to live near by, in Dupont Circle and eat here every couple of months.
Was looking for an intakian restaurant and trusted the open table reviews. Was very pleased with all the food we got. Black gnocchi, calamari and the arancini were exceptional. For dinner we had Sunday gravy which was way to much food but excellent. Also had the Tortelloni Mignone and lasagna which wee also fantastic. Service was awesome and the atmosphere was like eating dinner at nanas house. Lively and cozy with a fireplace on the main floor. Would definitely go next time we are in DC
The service staff were so friendly. Food came out in a timely manner and was presented well. They gave us a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary and congratulated us on multiple occasions. It was so sweet. The only thing I would say is that it is definitely a little bit cramped and some of the dishes lacked a bit of depth of flavor. Otherwise, their pasta was made well and the ambience was nice.
This is our 2nd visit and it was as wonderful as the first time. The food is excellent, the service first rate and you don't feel rushed. We arrived for a 7:30 reservation and didn't leave till almost 10:30 so we had time to dine, enjoy the food and the company of our friends.
Parking is awful as there is no valet and its street parking in Dupont Circle. There is a parking garage about 10 blocks away though.
Gerar place and great food.
Cozy spot on a rainy day, great food - though brunch menu limited, personable waiter.
Food was amazing and the service was just as great! Will definitely go out of my way to come back!
Had a great time introducing friends to one of our favorite spots in DC! It took a little while for our server to initially come by our table, but once they did the service was great. He had excellent recommendations for our friends and all the delicious food was brought out swiftly. It was the perfect spot to post up with friends, wine, and good food on a cold, rainy night!
Wonderful night out celebrating a birthday. Thanks.
Excellent Italian food. Soup superb. Great value on the wine, recommended by knowledgeable waiter.
Calamari app was giant but greasy. Sauce on Lamb Ragou had split, they offered to make a new one but we declined (we never send things back). Lamb was comp'd by manager (a nice, but expected gesture considering it was sent back). Dining room was really loud.
Downstairs bar is great, would go for that but not dinner, food is overpriced and of lower quality than many of the competitors in DC.
Great lasagna and helpful staff. Enjoyed the dinner. Bread was not so great, but the calamari rocked!
We celebrated a birthday and the food and service were first rate. The risotto and lasagna were both particularly good as was the calamari as an appetizer. We definitely will be going back.
Good experience. Could have been better but will likely give it another shot. Lamb gnocci was excellent.
The restaurant is in a converted town home, so it is small but that’s the charm! It’s very romantic as the lighting is dim, however it is on the smaller side so be ready to sit close to the other guests. Food was delicious and the service was great too. Cute bar downstairs if you’re waiting for your table.
Charming neighborhood spot that doesn’t disappoint. Chef was an A+ guy and the service was spot on.
Had dinner there twice on our DC weekend trip. The food was delicious and the service was great!
Perfect window seat for 21st anniversary
Wonderful meal, great service. Will come again when traveling to DC
Nice upscale Italian menu. Service attentive. Good value.
A scallop entree should be served with at least 3 scallops. My dish had two scallops and the risotta was soooo bland.
The server also only discounted one bottle of wine, not the two we ordered (Wednesday night half off bottles.)
Michael, our server, was wonderful! My colleague and I had the potato and fennel soup starter and the salmon for the entree. Well-done Floriana team! It’s a DuPont gem and I will be back!
Used to love Floriana but their lasagna is mushy now and the service is lackluster. They couldn't be bothered to serve our dessert beverages with our actual dessert.
Such a great Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is intimate and the food is phenomenal. I enjoyed my 41st Birthday dinner date with my wonderful fiancé.
We will be returning!
Great! We also went to the bar and it was awesome!!
Food is ALWAYS amazing!
Host was a little rude, but our waiter was awesome!
This place is excellent. It's authentic Italian food but with very reasonable portions - you'll leave full, but won't feel like you'll need to be wheeled out afterward. The wine list is amazing - you really can't go wrong with whatever you choose here. The only reason I gave service four stars was because they took our wine list after we ordered a bottle, and we were in and out in an hour (and we weren't rushing). Some may see this as a good thing, but we were fully prepared to stay and take our time. We probably would have if we had ordered a second bottle of wine. Regardless, will definitely be going back!
Our dinner meal was terrific. We started with an arugula salad that was very good. I am vegetarian and had a mushroom ravioli with a wonderful, tasty, smooth sauce. After I finished eating, I still wanted the flavor to continue. My partner had the duck dish. While the duck was a little too rare, the flavor and sauce were very good. My tiramisu dessert was good but not the traditional dessert that I love. The restaurant is in a house, the rooms are small, a little noisy at times but in general our dinner was a great experience and we definitely would go back if we are in the area again.
We were visiting Washington from Canada and didn’t really know any place for a romantic dinner on our last evening of vacation. We went online and used OpenTable to do our booking. It was an excellent choice! Fun, authentic, romantic. A great evening !
A venerable Italian gift to its neighborhood, this was a cozy find for visitors in the Dupont Circle area. The staff knew how to comfortably seat and take care of guests. Our supper was well-paced with a lively fresh spicy pesto and bread to begin. A good steady wine list with some excellent Italian iterations at typical restaurant markup. It happened that we dined on a Wednesday when all wines were 1/2 price by the bottle. They did sub a 2015 Barbera d'alba for the menu 2014, but that was a minor matter. Well executed pasta, steak, salads, gelato and espresso.
This was our first visit to Floriana and it didn't disappoint. It was a moderate November evening and we decided to sit outdoors after being seated next to the cozy indoor fireplace. Manager Matt frequently visited our table and we enjoyed chatting it up with him. The calamari was a sizable portion served with marinara and delicious. My scallop and shrimp risotto was tasty and my husband enjoyed his steak. We topped it all off with tiramisu. The service was top shelf. A truly enjoyable evening and we will return!
Food was very good! It is a tad dark inside restaurant but other than that everything was suberb
Food, atmosphere, and service was on par! Enjoyed it!
Food and service are always very good. Unusually noisy this past time - which made conversation a little challenging.
