Giovanni's is some of the best Italian food I have had! The environment is cozy, family-run. Prices are reasonable.
Very intimate restaurant with excellent food. We enjoyed our dinner here!
This a solid traditional Italian choice. All of the expected items are on the menu. The staff is very nice. It is small but very quiet at lunch.
I was seated at a bench seat and asked if it would be possible for the two of us to get a table with chairs. The hostess couldn't have been nicer - she told me whatever made me most comfortable. Great service, very nice people and the seafood pasta! Out of this world. Great value too. I have found my new favorite Italian restaurant!
Everything was delicious. The calamari, the fried mozzarella, gnocchi, chicken parm and eggplant parm. First time coming to this restaurant and found it by accident. Will definitely be coming back on my next visit. The staff were extremely friendly as well.
Small, quaint restaurant with authentic Venetian food and great service.
The service and food is always amazing. Patrice is great and always make sure that sure dining experience is remarkable.
Great food and atmosphere
Excellent food and atmosphere.
This place was AMAZING. From my time traveling in Italy, I felt like I was right back in the heart of Sicily with the wait staff and the ambience of the entire restaurant. My boyfriend and I had the most romantic dinner, and the food was incredible. Highly recommend!
Lovely place, great service and delicious food. What’s not to like?
My favorite spot when I'm in town! Service is always warm and friendly, food is well-presented and always delicious. Such a different vibe from most DC restaurants and hidden away just as a jewel should be!
Food was excellent! No one was there and decor needs an update.
Food was delicious. Service was good although we didn’t get the table we requested. Definitely going back.
This is a wonderful little space that doesn't feel cramped, and instead is so incredibly welcoming. The staff is fantastic, and the food is phenomenal. I'm definitely coming back soon.
Visited whilst on holiday from the UK. Great little Italian restaurant with a good varied choice of authentic Italian food on the menu. Food very tasty and good portion sizes. Seen some reviews saying it’s on the pricey side but I’d disagree, I think it’s a very reasonably priced menu. Gem of a find and nice and cosy. Would definitely come back for a meal if visiting Washington again.
The restaurant was crowded with pre-holiday lunch patrons, so it was noisier than usual. I ordered the LINGUINE Frutti di mare alla San Marco. The clams and mussels were very tender, but the shrimp and octopus was overcooked and tough. The kitchen needs to be reminded to pay attention while sauntering the dish to avoid over cooking. Otherwise the lunch was really good.
Excellent seafood pasta and great service. will go back there with my kids.
Food was absolutely amazing, and service was wonderful. Best (AMAZING) Melanzane alla Parmigiana we've found in DC!
I had a solo dinner during a work trip. The food was delicious and the staff attentive. Small and quiet place to decompress. Cozy and homey decor, rather than trendy and impersonal, which contributed to simple and comfortable ambience.
Excellent food and service in a quiet place with lovely ambiance!!
Food and service were both superior.
This is a cozy, old-fashioned Italian restaurant in the downstairs of a townhouse, therefore it is definitely not accessible for persons with disabilities. There are homemade pastas — we split a generous portion of gnocchi di patate— tender veal dishes, fish and seafood. Service is friendly and efficient. If you’re looking for good food in a casual setting where you can actually have a conversation and not spend a fortune, consider Giovanni’s Trattu.
This place is a treasure, a quiet dining oasis. The music is soft and very retro Italian American. Pasta dishes are made with fresh ingredients (no canned clams in vongole dishes). The salads are kind of dull, but prices are reasonable and service is excellent. No complaints.
Our dinner was amazing! We loved the small and personal feeling tonight. The food was so delicious and the service was just lovely !! Thank you for a lovely evening 💜
We’ve been eating here for special occasions for years, and the food and service has always been stellar. Our most recent dinner here in Nov of 2018 was just as delicious and delightful as ever.
Service so, so pasta over cooked. Grossly over priced for the value you receive.
Let me put it this way: the first thing we do after booking a trip to DC is make dinner reservations here. The food is delicious and authentic, service is excellent and the setting superb. We wish we could get there more often!
Absolutely authentic gem! Tucked away on a small street...and down a few steps. Clean, fresh, and attentive staff. Food was very tasty. Love this old school restaurant! Will recommend and return.,
Great service, food was very tasty. Portions ok size ( ot too big or small). Small place that reminds me of some of the small NYC italian restaurants . Nice gem in Dupont neighborhood.
I've been in DC for 11 years and have searched high and low for Mama's style Italian; I'm originally from New York. I can't believe it took me so long, but I finally found it!! It was delicious and the service was great. I felt like I was in a restaurant in Little Italy in NYC. From the ambiance to the food that was delish, it was just an amazing experience. I would recommend it to anyone.
Authentic Italian food, served with fresh ingredients. Decent wine selections as well.
We loved the ambience and the food! The staff were very accommodating to our multiple changes in reservation.
This is a consistently reliable local Italian (Venetian) restaurant. Quiet, good service and value.
An intimate restaurant and really good Italian food
We love Trattu; the food, the service, the ambience, all are terrific.
Wonderful food, wonderful service, wonderful restaurant!
This is a lovely little restaurant with great food and a super friendly staff. I had the gnocchi which was some of the best I’ve had in years. My husband had a great veal milanesa. Both of our dinners were delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We were in DC for the wedding of a friend and ate dinner here the night before the wedding. To our happy surprise, the wedding party had also chosen Giovanni's that evening. The food was excellent, service perfect and all in all it was a wonderful dining experience.
He food was good. The restaurant itself had a musty smell. Not the best but by far not the worst.
