Amazing meal as always! We live in Las Vegas and travel to Palm Springs 4-5 times a year. Johannes is a must! Delicious food, great atmosphere, great drinks ( and lots of wine choices if you so desire), great and friendly service!

Recommend by a friend who was a restaurant owner nearby. She said it was one.of the top restaurants in Palm Springs, he was absolutely right. Made reservations for Wife’s birthday, and was very glad we did. Food, service, and atmosphere were FIRST CLASS. We both had weiner schnitzel which was outstanding, best we ever had. Chef Johanne constantly circulated the restaurant chatting with diners and insuring that everything was satisfactory. He was a very pleasant gentleman that only enhanced our dining experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT if in Palm Springs area. An 11 on a scale 1 to 10.

Masterclass in How to Ruin a Great Meal The food at Johannes was exceptional. The pork medallions were juicy and perfectly prepared. The Wiener schnitzel was everything it’s known for—crisp, tender, and outstanding. The kitchen earned every bit of praise. Unfortunately, the dining experience was ruined by some of the worst service I’ve experienced in years. We waited 42 minutes for our entrées with virtually no communication. By the time our food finally arrived, we had already missed the show we had purchased tickets to attend. Apologies were offered, but they were empty words. At no point did anyone make even the smallest effort to recover the experience. No manager stopped by. No gesture of goodwill. Nothing. To make matters worse, we were seated less than a foot from the employee service station. Throughout dinner, servers constantly rushed past us with stacks of plates, conversations, and nonstop traffic. It felt like eating in the middle of a busy hallway instead of a fine dining restaurant. Even paying the bill became an ordeal. We finally had to flag our server down because he had essentially disappeared. The final insult came as we were literally walking out the door. The server suddenly remembered it was my birthday and offered to package up the birthday strudel to go. By then we were already late, frustrated, and heading for the exit. The moment had long since passed. Great restaurants aren’t defined by how they perform when everything goes right. They’re defined by what they do when something goes wrong. Johannes served an excellent meal, but they completely failed at hospitality. I cannot recommend a restaurant that lets outstanding food be overshadowed by such profoundly poor service.

10/10 - highly recommend! Everything was absolutely delicious, the service was wonderful, and the owner himself was such a kind and welcoming person. As someone from Germany living in the U.S., I especially appreciated the Wiener Schnitzel, Käsespätzle, and Apple Strudel. Everything tasted authentic and was simply incredible, overall, chef’s kiss! We’ll definitely be back. Anyone who loves great food needs to make a stop here!

It seems to have lost its luster from the past! Relatively the prices were way up, and the value or quality did not really represent goulash $58.00. Nothing special basically brisket. Endive salad $20.00 a few leaves artfully arranged? Sorry always liked it previously!

Johannes Palm Springs rallies around waitress battling leukemia
Barrie Shulman, a longtime waitress at Johannes Palm Springs, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and will be out of work for at least six months. The restaurant community has already raised over $15,400 via a GoFundMe to help cover living expenses during treatment.
