Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day. A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink. Enjoy a contemporary menu with the fresh flavors of California and a dash of Mexico, utilizing the bounty of our local and organic farms. The Golden Gate menu is updated seasonally.

    Loved listening to the music in the bar and our waiter was “the best” Didn’t get his name but he was French. It was a sibling reunion and they came from Utah, Washington Hawaii and, of course, California. We all loved it. Thank you Looking forward to next time.

    Had so much fun bringing my girlfriend here for her birthday. Everyone was so kind and sweet. We are not skilled in art whatsoever and the staff helped explain everything and were very helpful. I will definitely be coming back. :)
