The Crown is an independently run award-winning freehouse in the heart of Hastings Old Town, open at 11am every day. Our kitchen is open 12-4, 5 till 9. We serve modern British food in a friendly informal environment using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We create dishes from scratch, including homemade bread, fish from the surrounding seas and seasonal veg.We serve local real ales & craft beers, wine and a specialist gin and whisky selection and delicious coffee.'High Top Tables' refers to our high tables with bar stools. You can book a table for drinks only.Dogs are welcome, 'paws on the floors' please.Children welcome, we have a kids menu.For allergies & intolerances, please let your server know before ordering. We serve our full menu on a Sunday, but it is not a traditional roast dinner. Please call us if you are running later than your booked time.Table bookings for 2 hours for up to 4ppl; 3 hours for 5+ people. Tables from 7pm onwards are for whole evening.

    We needed some adaptations due to allergies and the staff and kitchen did an excellent job...food is interesting and tasty, not pretentious so always a delight to get something which is classier that 'pub-grub'. Seating quiet couples next to vocal large groups would be the only thing to ask about - but that's for the customer to ask about not the Crown to foretell

    A really lovely experience. The food was superb; it felt like a combination of home cooking and fine dining. The best I've had in St Leonards. We had the excellent set menu; highlights included a starter of home cooked Manzo di Pozza (succulent slivers of beef) and a main of chicken, ham hock and leek pie for two, with perfect crunchy pastry and melt-in-the-mouth chicken, full of flavour. Delightful desserts of baked custard with fresh blackberries and home-made strawberry sorbet. Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly service. I can't wait to go back. Including drinks and an extra dish of exquisite sausage roll, we spent under £40 each.

    Franco and Rosa are simply superb Italiano restaurateurs and cooks. Their food is at the top of the range in every category a d servings are ample. Always a delight to enjoy their food! Gregg and Caroline Egen

    Always great food here and we weren’t disappointed this time round. Great portion sizes, extremely tasty and all freshly cooked within view. We had the mackerel pate (a turn favourite) king prawns (6 large prawns as a starter so enough to share) the Diver sole which was divine abd the wild bass which was so filling. Great service and good ambience.
