Chef Ann believes in fair trade, and it is her goal fill her shop with curated goods from her home country of Laos, highlighting and supporting artisans by procuring market goods at a fair, viable wage-supporting price. In addition to housing hand-crafted goods, The Shop will also be used as a Private Dining Space and features a state-of-the-art cooking studio in which Chef Ann will lead cooking classes and demonstrations. Chef Ann is excited to embark upon this journey and hopes to have the opportunity to take you along with her.

The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

Hola Arepa is a tropical paradise in the heart of South Minneapolis serving Venezuelan-style stuffed arepas and Latin American-influenced small plates and a mostly gluten free menu. Chef Christina Nguyen and her partner, Birk Grudem started Hola Arepa as a food truck in 2011 and opened this brick and mortar location three years later. They wanted to bring home the flavors and vibes they experienced on their travels through small beach towns in South America, Central America and Mexico. Complementing the vibrant flavors of the food are tropical craft cocktails including slushies and the best margarita in the city. Open 7 nights a week, happy hour everyday except Friday & Saturday and brunch on the weekends with a sunny patio open all summer long and a 4 seasons patio that is dog friendly year round.
