Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day. A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink.     We love going to the Lodge. We know the staff and they make a point to say hello and chat with us. I had the Bolognese and it was delicious. My husband was jealous. He ordered the chicken, which is always good. Enjoyable evening.

    Bar of America never disappoints! Poke Nachos are a MUST! Prime rib is cooked to perfection as usual the Ribeye and Filet Mignon. Service is always great. Nicolas was very attentive, friendly, and knew the menu. A must when in the Tahoe/Truckee area.

    Loved listening to the music in the bar and our waiter was “the best” Didn’t get his name but he was French. It was a sibling reunion and they came from Utah, Washington Hawaii and, of course, California. We all loved it. Thank you Looking forward to next time.

    Delicious food! We started with the pretzel bites...our "go-to" favorite especially because of the yummy Timber House beer cheese sauce for dipping. Craft cocktails...specifically the Cosmopolitan are excellent. Hubby had a Timber House burger with their signature Bourbon BBQ sauce and I had the Sockeye Salmon. As always, a fantastic meal! Eat and drink here...you won't be disappointed!
