chicken and waffles was ok. salmon omelet was very good.
Went out with friends. Food was excellent, not crazy expensive and we could actually hear ourselves talk! We will go back!
Always enjoy coming here for brunch with our big group of friends. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating.
Love this restaurant so much, but my last experience was less than ideal. Made a reservation for 5 people. They sat us upstairs right under the televisions at a 4-top and had one of us sitting on the edge of the table with no option of moving tables. The service is normally fabulous but tonight it was pretty bad. Even the food was mediocre compared to previous visits. My guess is it was an ‘off’ night. I definitely recommend trying it out but I’d request a table downstairs or in the back of the upstairs. I will be taking a break from bringing out of town visitors here for a bit.
Great service and food!
Friday night dining. Exceptional. Thoroughly enjoy Lavagne. The duck and spaghetti bolognese were delicious. The salumi board a dream. Bravo!
This place was amazing! We had really great food, service and half price bottle of wine! I would highly recommend for some great Italian food!
The service was excellent, the food was good but our friend complained of heavy salt in his omelet. The noise at Brunch was off the charts. The 4 of us could hardly hear one another. The restaurant needs to invest in sound protection on the walls. With all the hardwood and brick, there is nothing to absorb the sound. ☹️
Locally sourced Italian, creative choices on the menu, pleasant, enthusiastic wait staff. Reasonably priced. Part of a Barracks Row restaurant scene that is finally giving DC eaters a destination that isn't NW.
Loved the homemade pasta and 1/2 price bottle of wine on sunday
Best brunch deal in DC!
Lavagna continues to maintain their high standard of hospitality.
Great food, friendly staff
Service was great! Went twice and unfortunately the food wasn’t as good the second time as the first, just a bit too much salt on the salmon omelette. Mimosas are great tho and a wonderful area!
The food was cold, and wasn’t good. The service was pretty good though and he did a good job and making sure we were taken care of. Only problem was the food wasn’t good so there wasn’t much he could do! Lol
From hand shaped pasta to perfectly spiced sauces, Lavagna has it all. Don't miss the treats in the salume like home made strawberry jam. Compare the sweet jam with the hints of vinegar in pickled asparagus and green beans. Try the Chance the Grappa cocktail.
For me food is most important and this was very tasty and a pleasant experience
Exceptional prompt and courteous service. Attentive without being intrusive. Perfect menu with delicious home made pasta and chocolate budino!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
The food and service were very good but the portions are overwhelming and, therefore, unappetizing.
Great food! Awesome Pasta Dishes, and Mussels. Can't wait to go again.
Lavagna was great! We had a great meal, with generous portions, so we took doggie bags home & had the leftovers for dinner the next night. I had seared rockfish over Brussels sprouts and sauteed mushrooms (my choice of sides) and it was cooked perfectly. All of the service workers were very friendly and attentive. My only disappointment was that I wanted typical Italian tablecloths instead of just plain wood for our tabletops (it was our anniversary). That's not their fault, of course! Will return and recommend to friends.
Casual Italian restaurant with good food and good service.
I picked this place because of reviews. It did not disappoint. Meeting a classmate that I hadn't seen in 48 years! Our waiter heard us talking about the occasion and brought us glasses of prosecco to celebrate. We had a great reunion and a fantastic meal!
Out of town from Ohio. We were looking for a local restaurant with character. What a gem we found in this restaurant! Service was friendly and informative. Food was excellent. Highly recommended. We enjoyed the primavera, Bolognese, and chicken dinner.
Great food and fantastic service. Our server Mario was attentive, friendly very helpful and professional. We will certainly return.
We had a special seating request for a member of our party with a disability, and the hostess was very accommodating and kind. Our server was super knowledgeable and attentive. And the food was delicious!!
Went here for a Saturday brunch with an out-of-town friend around 1:30-2 and found a seat on the patio. No problem getting in. In hindsight, we might have picked the inside table for the A/C. The tables are far enough away on the patio to not be on top of one another or in each others conversations. Shout out to our wonderful waiter Mario who was a lot of fun and humored our questions. Everything is made in-house and the quality shows.
Highly recommend the Crab Risotto. Savory and delicious without being heavy. Definitely get your $ worth. Raspberry Italian soda was absolutely refreshing.
Lavagna keep the mimosas filled the entire brunch but my friend ended up preferring the Jet Fuel when all was said and done. She also had the Chicken and Waffles and sung its praises too. She was too full to eat everything in one sitting!
Will definitely check out for a future meal! Definitely blew away my expectations and was a great place for an out-of-town person.
Had brunch today and it was amazing. Wonderful food and bottomless mimosas were such a deal.
Been there, done that. Always excellent people, food and wine.
Fine place for special occasion.
The food was wonderful! We had a great waiter too. He was friendly and attentive. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
A friend of mine and I took his mentor out for brunch and thought to take him here. He’s picky in that he doesn’t like stuffy food, but he LOVED his biscuits and gravy. My friend had the omelette with goat cheese and spinach (DELISH), and I had some of the best eggs Florentine I’ve ever tasted. If you don’t mind a large and loud crowds, I would highly recommend this spot.
Amazing food- the omelets and pancakes are to die for! Great portion sizes, great coffee, great service! Also, a lot of outdoor seating perfect for Sunday afternoons.
a friend had sunday brunch here about a month ago and insisted we go back. it is not in or near my 'hood so I suggested a few other places. NO, she insisted Lavagna. Ok, Lavagna it was. Nice place, we did the outdoor seating. noice levels were ok, except the occasional siren from an emergency vehicle. Oh, well. Service was fabulous. food was very good. streetscape was entertaining.
I was not only NOT disappointed, I was glad I made the effort to go.
Excellent as always. We love this restaurant. Very good food and very community minded.
This was the best meal i had in my entire week in DC our waiter was wonderful the food was outstanding everything about this experience was fantastic this will also be on my list of place to stop when I visit DC in the future
Delicious wine, great happy hour and fantastic homemade pasta!
We enjoyed a wonderful meal here. The homemade pasta was exceptional, as was the sauce. The rustic bread and a nice wine list rounded out a lovely evening.
Good venue in the up and coming 8th St corridor of Capital Hill.
Menu provided a good variety of dishes. The homemade pasta is a standout.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. Great spot for a first date, or for deep conversation.
Meals weren’t great. Service was rushed. Nice atmosphere though.
