Lavagna - Washington DC
Lavagna never disappoints. Attentive friendly service and well crafted food and drinks, truly a neighborhood gem!
typical brunch options. Food was good. Not much that was noteworthy though. All in all, good brunch, good price.
Fantastic service and the patio was a perfect spot to brunch! One of my favorite spots in DC!
We were in town on vacation and were just looking for a place to have a family dinner. We came upon this place and had a really lovely dinner. The food was fantastic and the service really top notch. Chandler was delightful and steered us in all the right directions in selecting food for all of us, even the kids. It was a wonderful experience and we would definitely go back.
Amazing food. GREAT service. Our server was a delight. I guess I wish there were not TVs. For such lovely food and drink i would have preferred not to have the TV on. Otherwise a perfect night.
Great quaint place. It's not big but sure can fit a good amount of people. Great staff! We felt very welcome and well treated. Awesome housemade bread, butter, pasta, cured bacon.
Lavagna is our go-to place for a great dinner in Capitol Hill. We've never had a bad meal, bad service, or bad time there. The prices are great, the food is delicious and locally sourced, and it's a nice walk from our home nearby.
Would highly recommend Lavagna to anyone, and have taken many visitors/family there as well.
Overall, a nice place. Apple salad was nothing special. Provolone had two nice wedges of pan-fried cheese, but otherwise was unremarkable. Lobster risotto was OK, but a little shy on lobster (in line with $22 price) and had asparagus which was slightly undercooked. Ricotta ravioli with veal/pork was stellar, and lemon cheese cake was excellent.
The pasta and vegetables were perfectly cooked. The wine selection by the glass wasn’t extensive but seemed well selected for the menu. The waiter was friendly and attentive. We sat outside which was pleasant. We’ll go back the next time we’re in DC
I'd been to Lavagna a few years back and enjoyed the experience overall, so I was looking forward to coming back. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the last time. We were able to secure a table outside easily and received quick service, but quick became the theme of the whole meal. I recognize that we arrived at 1:30pm, which is on the later side for brunching, but it was still well within their hours of operation. We got our food quickly, but then had our plates and drinks snapped up before we had a chance to comment that we weren't finished and our whole table was cleared away, not projecting the warmest, most welcoming vibe. The food was good and the prices weren't bad but I'd probably go to another place on the street for a more relaxing experience.
Outstanding food! Incredibly fresh and well prepared. This is a must if you are visiting D.C. We found out after we arrived that it is very popular with members of Congress, too, so don’t be surprised to rub elbows with policy makers.
We had our Mother’s Day brunch and the food was delicious and the decor good. Hasn’t been in years and it is much improved.
Best pasta I've ever had.
Ambiance is great at this small place. Service was excellent wine was all Italian and very tasty. Value for meal was great. Will be back
Great table upstairs for a big group, table of 12
My favorite place to go on 8th street. Consistently delicious food and wonderful service
The food which is normally amazing was mediocre and the mimosas were horrible.
Fish and vegetables were outstanding. Decent prices for DC. Good wine too. Definitely recommend!
While my friend and I looked forward to our Easter brunch, we were disappointed in several areas. The food was good (I did think the omelet a bit dry) but....while I had made reservations, we were seated next to the kitchen. I know somebody has to sit there but, while crowded, I would have expected better seating.
My biggest complaint, however, was the noise level. I noted the choices on the rating were quiet to energetic. I don't consider having to shout to have a conversation with my companion to be 'energetic'...I consider it totally uncomfortable. If my companion was hard of hearing, we would have had to leave.
I know that restaurants think that lots of noise means people are having a good time but I don't and resent the idea that screaming a conversation is good.
I admit to being an older patron and know you aim your plan at younger patrons but those of us of an 'age' like to eat out, too, and resent being forced to deal with this kind of noise. Sitting next to the kitchen didn't help nor did sitting near large groups also shouting at one another (along with very loud laughter).
Sorry...but I will not return.
I had a great brunch on Easter! The staff was great. Originally we wanted to sit outside but realized the sun was too much and staff moved us inside without a problem! The food came out incredibly quickly and was delicious. The bottomless mimosas were also great. I do believe on here it said they were $12 but it is actually $15, which is still a good deal.
I was outside- service and food were terrific.
Only ever been here for weekend bottomless brunch. Consistently great food and service! Mimosas always refilled promptly and the menu items are very good. Only docking a star on value because they recently increased their prices by a few bucks on the bottomless. Now on par with cava or others at around $35pp
I had brunch here with some out of town friends. It was a fun place to get together and talk. The food and service were good, and it's in a great location.
Food was great and it was easy to get a seat. It was also pretty quiet for a DC restaurant.
Service was excellent. We ordered bottled water & half of a bottle left. The waiter capped the bottle & put in a carrying bag which was quite nice. Two of us had the barramundi which was very good. Two of us had the duck breast which was very tasty but not as tender as I’ve had.
We had a wonderful experience at Lavagna! Would definitely recommend it for small groups.
We had a nice post race brunch at Lavagna. Service was quick, which was great for us since we all needed to get home and nap!
Great food and value. Has always been easy to get a table. I'll be back
Another wonderful meal and lovely evening at Lavanga. Kudos to our server - Chandler. Steven, of course, always creates a warm, welcoming space.
Very good restaurant
The brunch was very good and reasonably priced. The service was excellent. The waiter kept our water glasses full, checked on us several times, and the food came out way faster than we expected. Would recommend to a friend.
Lavagna has the best brunch, pancakes were so good!
I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now and I was not disappointed. My mom and I went for an early brunch after church so it was still not that busy when we got there. I had the mascarpone pancakes and my mom had the arugula omelet and both were absolutely to die for. I will definitely be coming back for brunch and also to try out their lunch and dinner menus.
Great brunch! Excellent service! We really enjoyed it.
I had a great experience! I went for brunch and they were so accommodating and found us a seat on the patio. It was gorgeous out, the goat cheese omelette I ordered was great and came so quickly! Our server was very attentive and made sure our mimosa glasses were never empty. It was affordable and definitely would recommend for a casual brunch :)
We made reservations for my mom's birthday while she was in town. We were seated promptly and ordered the special appetizer (scallops and shrimp) before our main courses of the ravioli and two spaghetti bolognese. All were delicious! We will happily go back! The only small thing was when we were greeted they told my mom happy birthday and that she would get a yummy dessert - that never happened.
Terrific service, amazing authentic food. A little overpriced.
Attentive service and first class menu. This was a great evening.
The pasta is AMAZING. We loved the bread, too! Highly recommend.
We enjoyed this quaint place. We opted to sit outside on a wonderful Friday evening. Great waitstaff. Highly recommend!
