Superb as usual!
Comida muy rica!!! Servicio excelente.
Altamente recomendable.
Superior in all respects
Le Diplomate has exceptional, authentic French bistro food in a Parisian bistro setting. The service was excellent. Highly recommend the trout amandine. Tip: street parking easier to find on Q west of 14th.
Great food and great service!
Great venue. Great food. Reservations are hard, so we book a table a month out and then figure out what to do with it as time gets closer. You can be spontaneous at most places in DC--Le Diplomate is not one of those places. My wife said the Trout was one of the best meals she ever had. Wow.
Food and ambiance were outstanding! Service was completely attentive
The duck sarladaise was truly divine, but all the food, the drinks, and the service made this an unforgettable experience! I was transported right back to France and they made our anniversary brunch truly special!
The Eggs Norwegian was fantastic, and was one of the best brunch meals I have ever had.
We were so thrilled to have the chance to dine at Le Diplomate while visiting from our of town, that we took a 10pm reservation for outside. We ordered a bottle of champagne, cheese, appetizers, and entrees for all four of us. Our family of four was having a lovely dinner. Our waiter was knowledgable and attentive, and also very friendly, even telling us some great places to visit while in D.C. We finished dinner, and were then brought dessert menus. We ordered a dessert and coffee in a timely manner, and waited for them to arrive. Dessert came out first, coffee was brought a few minutes later. Within 2 minutes of our coffee arriving, a woman from the restaurant came over and informed us that we would have to leave. It was midnight, and the outside seating was shut down, and if we didn't leave they could potentially be fined by the city for not being closed. We were in utter shock. No one told us at the time of seating that we had to be out at a certain time. No one said anything to us during the course of our dinner. No one told us when we ordered dessert that we might not have time to finish it. No one offered us the opportunity to go sit/move inside so we could finish our dessert/coffee. What a completely disappointing way to end our last evening visiting D.C. The food was fantastic, but unfortunatley was completely overshadowed by downright rude service.
Perhaps I went into this particular restaurant experience with expectations too high. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I wasn't blown away. What impressed: cocktails, the before-dinner bread basket, the pommes dauphine, coffee & dessert. The wait staff was competent and proficient as well, and I quite loved the atmosphere. What left us a bit disappointed: charcuterie ($23 for appetizer charcuterie and it featured no cheeses - that was extra $), the entrees were good (not great- both my husband and I had lukewarm feelings about our spendy entrees) and I feel it was fairly overpriced in general. Something about this place makes me really want to love it... I'm just not quite there. Maybe next time I'll order a different entree?
Have been going to eat their for years. Just thought service was less then. Did not feel
Fantastic all around!! Great food, great service, just a little loud since it’s so busy
Always a go to spot
We adore Le Diplomate. As close to Paris as you can get in heart of DC!
Overall everything was fine but not great. No dish stood out as a highlight. We had the belon oysters (very briney), fois gras parfait (decent but did not come with enough bread for the amount of spread), steak frites (underseasoned) and the bouillabaisse (very small portion and a bit overseasoned). Given how hard it was to get a reservation, I had much higher expectations. The service was decent and the decor was very Parisian but it did get pretty noisy and became harder and harder to talk. There wasn't anything that made me feel like I would definitely want to come back but if someone else really wanted to go, I would go back because nothing was bad.
I asked the bartender to make me a cocktail with Lillet. He made me an excellent white negroni. Thank you!
Bouillabaisse was the plat du jour-- very good, but could dial back on the salt.
The gougeres were addictive and very flavorful. Will go back for the gougeres and cocktails.
The vibe is very fun. The restaurant is loud and the tables are close together. We were okay with that. It feels like a proper French bistro and is not pretentious.
We had a very satisfying meal and excellent cocktails before heading to the Lincoln Theater to see The Mavericks. A good night.
Great food and service as usual. We were initially seated in a very private outdoor booth but requested a more central location and we were quickly accommodated. Seafood platter was excellent.
Perfect last minute dinner for friends. Love the cabana and best cheese burger in town!
My parents took me out for my birthday, and I selected to celebrate at Le Diplomate -- as they have never been! From appetizers to desserts, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Neville was an attentive server, so please thank him for doing a good job!
Great lunch spot. Quick. Our sever Michael was thorough and knowledgeable!
A friend and I went to Le Dip for their birthday. Got a couple of drinks, a cheese board, and a couple of dishes. All of the food was amazing, and the service was great too (including getting some good food/drink recommendations). On top of everything, they brought a couple of free, extra treats for the birthday, which was a really thoughtful touch. The place is quite big and usually busy, so there is a decent noise level but one that did not affect our conversation.
Amazing! Escargot on One Thousand, would recommend for a nice dinner date out
We had a server named Jake and it made the entire experience.
The ambiance and decor was spot on. The food was delicious. And the cocktails were 1st rate.
