On arrival was informedr restaurant wasn’t open! - did not open until evening. member semed not to believe I had a booking until shown the confirmation email. He then accepted I was correct and led myself to large bar area, with no customers/diners present. He explained to his colleague who was there. that we were a party for lunch. She seemed confused. By now I was reluctant to stay, I politely informed staff that I was unhappy with the circumstances and departed. Fortunately we managed to have an excellent meal at nearby restaurant.

Disappointed,main meal only warm asked for a replacement which was definitely hot. Had to pay for extras like bread to serve with prawn cocktail and potatoes and chips to go with the main meal.

Food delicious, the calamari starter particularly. Praveen looked after us very well. Room a bit bright, lacking in atmosphere. A lovely evening though fir a family get together

We visited for a work meal and we all had a great time and enjoyed the food and drinks very much. The only small issue keeping it from being a wholly outstanding experience was the time it took for the food to come out, it seemed to take a long time for the mains to arrive. The staff were friendly and happy to help and did a great job, and the chefs also did a lovely job on the food. Overall, I would definitely recommend the restaurant and would come back.

The food was really lovely, and I had one of the best cocktails I've had in my life. The ambience is what you would expect at a Malmaison, and the music is always at the right volume for a nice meal. Our only complaint was that we were served by about five people, most of whom seemed to be in training, so we were asked if we wanted something else or if everything was okay about 20 times during a two course meal. Twice would have sufficed, and it didn't seem like the manager (whoever they were - it wasn't clear) didn't know who was in charge of which table. Again, amazing food and ambience but service could have been smoother.

This is an attractive restaurant in the heart of Leith, a lovely waterfront suburb of Edinburgh. Our food was acceptable, but service was poor. In addition to indifference from our servers, we were charged for an unordered main dish as well as a 5 pound (unadvertised) charge for bread! Gratuity was added to the bill as well. When asked about these charges, our server told us the restaurant's policy is not to mention the extra charges and wait to see if the customers complained. There are several other better spots for dinner in Leith. If you go here, be sure to review your bill in detail.

Not having much like in Edinburgh recently. We ordered steaks which were OK, not great, just OK. My wife ordered a chocolate fondant for dessert. Waiter said that the regular chef was off, so it may take longer than usual. Fair enough. 25mins later, he comes back and says he's had to bin the one he made as it was a disaster. Couple of espressos on the house. Fondant eventually arrives - solid in middle. Deleted from bill. Need better chefs. Won't be going back.

Nice setting not to noisy for time of year and staff were great so all in all a good night and will definitely be back
