We had a great lunch and our server (Nate) was very knowledgeable and kind.
Took my date there for a quiet brunch. She loved it. I've been going here for years but felt great to hear her compliment the ambiance, service, food, and memories it triggered from her time in Europe. Great restaurant.
The food was OK. I expected more. Not sure I will go back....
Noise level was great
Food was excellent
Waiter didn't rush us
This is a French restaurant....Dessert souffles should be a standard item. But generic flavors not some off the wall flavor that sounds cutsie. stick to the basics.
Birthday. Celebration. She gave a complimentary dessert Nice!
We are new to the area and found Mon Ami online... we went for my husbands birthday and what a fabulous choice. The food (carrot ginger soup, salad, steaks, Delicious baguette, steamed spinach) all were wonderfully cooked and seasoned. The waiter struck an excellent and very comfortable balance between attentive and giving us time. He was polite, made excellent suggestions and made sure we had everything we needed.
Upon hearing it was my husbands birthday, he brought us a delicious chocolate mousse...
We will definitely enjoy coming here again.
We love Mon Ami Gabi Reston. This was our first time to dine there during Covid. Except for the unfriendly female server who took care of our table setting at the beginning, the main friendly waiter served us very well. He let us feel welcomed. We felt comfortable despite the very beginning of unfriendly seating experience. Food is phenomenal as usual. My husband and tow teenage boys ordered different beef dishes respectively. They were all tender, properly done (our boys are particular about meat doneness), and excellent seasoning. I ordered one of their signature dish, Trout Almondine. It was perfectly cooked with a proper seasoning. All of us enjoyed the excellent entrée (buttered escargots), delicious side dishes (green beans and pomme purée). Green beans had excellent crunchiness. All 3 desserts we ordered were superb: Banana pudding with caramel sauce, chocolat mouse, and crème brulée. It’s totally a good value for its excellent dishes. I just wish the ambiance could be a bit better but we understand it’s different from before because of Covid. We’ll definitely go back. Bravos pour chefs de Mon Ami Gabi Reston!
Great food, great ambiance. Been going to Mon Ami Gaby for years and they nail it everytime
The server had the appropriate level of attention and the owner was very gracious. Our reservation was initially was for Thursday but was canceled due to weather. So,we rescheduled for Saturday. Because our reservation was cancelled by the restaurant, the owner comped our drinks. This was a most pleasant and unexpected event. Mon Ami Gabi has become one of our go to places.
Unbelievable. They quietly add a “Covid Fee” to your bill. Okay, in their defense, they add a statement saying that if you want it removed, they’ll do so. First, how many people would ask? Second, how many people check their bills that closely that they’d even notice the charge? (I didn’t discover the charge until after I had left the restaurant). Third, when I add a gratuity I add 20% of the total (easy math). In this case, unbeknownst to me, I’m adding a 20% gratuity to the Covid Fee!
Perfect all around. Thanks again!! MMG
Restaurant has gone downhill. (Perhaps understanding in the COVID environment.)
Bread no longer free ... and it was stale. We sent it back and it was stale again.
French fries were cold and limp, not crispy like they used to be.
We have been many times before and it has been consistently good. However, this time I cannot say the same. The Skate fish which was the specialty of the day was literally drowned in butter. I could barely finish half of it because it was so greasy. The fries seemed thicker and were also greasy and soggy.
Perhaps my husband and daughter overlooked this item on the menu but they could not find the steak frites with the Béarnaise sauce. I hope that they wouldn’t get rid of this item. They ordered the steak aux poivres but it was just fine.
On another note the service was great and everyone at the front was very nice and professional.
Service was great, my gf did get a bad paper cut from the place mat!
Day after Valentine’s Day...to avoid the crowd. Everything was great.
The big heated tents are still up. Makes Covid-19 dining MUCH safer!
The quality of food was just ok, not at the level it was prior to (pre-COVID)
Another great experience here. Food is so good. I had beef Wellington which is amazing to have a beautiful piece of steak wrapped in flaky pastry. Cooked perfect.
Another person had the caesar salad with grilled salmon and loved it. Our third person had their favorite - croque madame which is a crusty grilled ham and cheese.
And we splurged and had dessert. Chocolate mousse is heavenly light with pearls of cocoa and a dollop of whipped cream. I had the apple tartin which is amazing with the baked apple on a flaky perfect crust.
Yum! Cant wait to dine here again!!!
I went for Valentines day. I have been to Mon Ami a few times, and honestly, not sure why I go back. The food was average, the pricing is high. Not many options for a vegeterian-only two fish meals on the menu.
Great food as always. Love the atmosphere. Staff was great. Made a reservation online quickly and easily. Tables were nicely spread out. Liked the fact that the tables that were not in use were removed so were were skipping every other table to create the distance. This make the restaurant have a normal appearance without making it obvious that Covid is still around.
I had an incredible time. The food was delicious. Definitely going back.
Very enjoyable - newly opened for Happy Hour, with somewhat higher prices than pre-COVID. Went from HH appetizers and libations into the dinner order at the bar table, so most convenient. Chateaubriand was good, not excellent.
Always a great experience here! Glad they have the French toast back on the menu!
Be aware that they charge a 5% Covid surcharge. Not going to help people want to support this restaurant right now
The Prix Fixe is great value and a real treat. Excellent food and service.
waiter was not so attended to us.
had to wait for steak sauce after we were dons with the food.
We frequent Mon Ami Gabi regularly as it is a great place to relax with a great menu and service.
delicious brunch!
All in all a great night out... food was good... the ambiance was nice. All four of us had the Restaurant Week special. Very nice. More than enough food. Good selection. Couldn´t be happier.
Great service & food
It was just okay, thought there would be more French options, didn’t realize it was a steakhouse. Service was somewhat inattentive and slow. Even the bread cost extra.
Everything was great! Looking forward to coming back!
The lobster bisque was good but served rather cool - should have been reheated. The beef bourguignon was over-the-top delicious!
I went for lunch on Saturday during restaurant week. The food was very good with the exception that everything was served at room temperature; not good when you are eating lobster bisque or salmon. It seemed like the staff was overwhelmed by the amount of people which is why I did not send it back. It was disappointing however I will be go back and give it another try.
Great ambience and fantastic food. I finished my entire plate. Enjoy the experience.
would have been nice to have bread offered while we waited for our meal.
Restaurant week.
Lunch for restaurant week love their French onion soup and tried there take of ham & cheese sandwich with sorbet for dessert
I went for the winter Restaurant week lunch menu. We had the onion soup, salmon, steak fritte, chocolate mousse I would have been disappointed had I paid the "normal" price. The onion soup broth could have used more caramelized onions/flavor; the salmon and the sauce were good; the tiny potatoes that came with the salmon had no taste, they were almost mushy and the french fries that came with the steak fritte were soggy. The steak fritte was supposed to be "medium rare" but was quite "well done".
The pecan turtle bar was very good and the chocolate mousse was good.
We were not offered coffee with our dessert (tho I saw later on the menu that coffee or soda was included with the restaurant week meal) and there was a large piece of glass under our table...obviously a glass was shattered previously.
I thought our waiter did a decent job until a couple of business men were seated nearby. He obviously was putting out more "effort" to earn their tip. I get that...BUT...my check and credit card sat on the edge of the table for at least 10 minutes until the other couple asked for their check and I had to get his attention to pick up my bill or he would have left it again. As it was, he returned their bill and credit card to them before he brought me mine...I did tip him more than 20% because of the pandemic but wait staff need to realize the restaurant week was the perfect time to "pull me in" with great food and awesome service.
Warm and friendly greeting and we could see social distancing protocols were in effect. We were seated in the middle dining room and felt comfortable sitting in a booth with distance between other diners. That was the highlight of our dining experience.
Our server acted like he couldn’t be bothered with us for the rest of the evening. Halfway through dinner a table was set up in the center aisle and two diners were escorted to sit there. I did not feel as if they were 6 ft away and there were other options for them to sit. The restaurant offered outdoor seating, which was fine and it was a very cold night. At 8pm the wait staff began to clean the outside area leaving the doors open! It was freezing! A server walked right through the dining room with 3 dirty and full garbage cans, obviously to take them out back to clean them and then walked back through again with them when emptied. We weren’t to be deterred though and ordered dessert. I was given a large soup spoon to eat a slice of cake. I couldn’t find anyone to ask for a fork and made do with the spoon.
Needless to say, our experience was lackluster and disappointing given that this is one of my favorite places to eat. It may be awhile for us to go back.
