Restaurant Blauw Amsterdam is a restaurant that introduces guests to all the wonderful flavors of Indonesia. The restaurant specializes in a particular style of dining called rijsttafel. This is essentially a large collection of small plates meant to be passed around and enjoyed by the entire table, much like Spanish tapas or Japanese dim sum. Rijsttafel literally translates to "rice table" and is called that because most of the options are sat on a bed of rice. At Blauw, guests pay a set price and then get to treat themselves to the seemingly never ending parade of dishes. Diners can expect to see all sorts of Indonesian dishes such as goat satay, fish curry, egg in sambal sauce, roasted coconut and spicy shrimp.
