At its core, Echo Lake is a celebration of rum in all its styles, showcased through rum-focused cocktails and a selection of house-made rhum arrangé, agricole rhum infused with fruits and spices in the tradition of the French Caribbean. Highlights from the bar include the Daily Daiquiri (always $12) and the Freezer Ti Punch, Echo Lake's take on the freezer Martini by way of Martinique. The food menu skews toward the sea, with bold, aromatic dishes drawing on the flavors of the world's sugar cane-producing countries. Neighborhood folk love the bread, mozzarella and pasta which are made fresh daily. Your first order of business: Ordering a Peroni or glass of Italian wine. Then dig into belly-warming dishes like calamari, red beet and goat cheese gnocchi, and wood-fired pizzas (Time Out New York's Best New Pizza Joint 2007) .
