Nick's Riverside Grill
Saturday and Sunday 11 am-11 pm
**Bar is open till 2 am most nights
Food was good, service acceptable. Very loud, we were sitting so close to other diners we could hear their conversations. One weird thing happened, a diner next to us was served a medium well steak when he ordered a medium rare steak. I saw the steak (sine we were so close) and it was definitely not medium rare, so he sent it back. The waitress came back and said the chef said it was cooked correctly...WHAT? I have never been to a restaurant where the chef disagreed with the customer. Needless to say, the manager got involved and I think all sides were satisfied. But the gentleman did not get to eat at the same time as his family. Otherwise, the restaurant was okay. We were there only because we were going on a cruise afterward.
This place was extremely loud and a little dirty. The food was only ok, but not worth the price.
It was our anniversary. I tried to request outdoor seating but was placed in a small patio far below looking out onto the water. We were also told they could not seat us (even on the small empty patio) because the kitchen was backed up. I tried to negotiate with the young lady at the desk but that did not work. After dinner we went for a walk and found the larger patio up the stairs out by the water with plenty of open tables. Very disappointing anniversary dinner. Oh!! Why do we click on special occasions when they make no acknowledgement of it.
Nice river front location. Very impressed with the mussels. Perfectly cooked and cleaned. Loud and casual environment. The noise of children and sports fans in the bar was more than I would choose, but the food was solidly executed.
Nick's Riverside Grill was a disappointment. It is in a prime location on the waterfront in Georgetown, and it's very expansive, large indoor areas, bar, upstairs, and a big outdoor patio. On a Saturday at lunch time in was nearly empty indoor and sparsely filled outside. Perhaps because the food is just so-so.
Service was friendly, but a bit haphazard. All items ordered had 'odd' twists to them. An appetizer of edamame - typically steamed and maybe salted - came with a spicy sweet sauce poured over them, making them nearly impossible to eat (VERY messy to pick up, which is the only way to eat edamame) and did not work at all with this normally delicious legume.
Shrimp cocktail - the prawns were indeed large. But again, not sure what the sauce concoction was supposed to be. Over sweet and overwhelmed the shrimp. They were better with just lemon squeezed over them.
Nachos - obscenely huge portion - suited for about half dozen people. The chips were not fresh. Stale or soggy where sauce touched them. Really a big mess.
We will not bother coming back. There are many better options around town.
Great views and very tasty food, I will definitely return for other menu items.
The food was excellent. We loved the steak and the salmon. Well seasoned and perfectly done as requested. The only thing we didn't like was the noise level; it was difficult to hear each other.
Showed up on time for our reservation, but had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. When we were finally seated, I saw 7 or 8 empty tables that just hadn't been set yet. As for the food, the bison tacos were excellent, but the baby back ribs were extremely dry. The server was mediocre. The Saturday night crowd was similar to what you would expect to find at Hooters. My sangria was ok, not bad but nothing special. I think this place is more of a meat market than a restaurant, at least on Saturday night.
Perfect for sitting along the water. Not overly pricey but good food.
Service was exceptionally friendly and efficient. I will be returning there with a large group after my daughter’s graduation later this month
After 17 minutes sitting with no wait staff,
A great place for drinks and hanging out with friends at the bar or outside on the patio but not for dinner where you would like have a conversation. 4 Stars seems too high after dining here. The server was the best part of the experience. She was late coming to the table after we were seated but once she arrived she did a good, not great, job. The entrees were good but a bit overpriced. It’s a very loud place.
Reunion with friends from out of town
I was expecting more from the food for the cost.
Food was excellent. Had lamb chops and my wife had tortellini. Both were cooked just right. Key lime pie was very good too. It is a bit loud due to the hard floors and glass walls, but it wasn’t distracting for us. Definitely going again.
We ate here for Valentine's Day. We were surprised at how empty it was that evening, but it worked great for us since we tend to not like crowds/noise. The restaurant was calm, had great ambiance, was perfect for conversation, and had awesome music playing. I had the crab cake sandwich, which was okay (had great fries), and my boyfriend got the carne asada, which was delicious and very colorful. Great wine & beer menu. I'm sure it's livelier on other nights, but we enjoyed our quiet valentine's date!
The food and service were fine. The only problem was the noise. It was VERY loud. We ate there inside in January so the experience outside by the river may be very different.
The prix fixe was a great value which I strongly recommend.
I had the spicy mussels on a friend's suggrstion and it was great. We were seated on the glass roof area and we cold during the meal.
Great place for a quick meal; Views are fantastic and the food is good;
We looked at the reviews for this on Open Table and they looked really good. The location has the appeal but the restaurant is riding on that and it feels as if they’ve not put any effort into the food here because they have a captive audience. Food was food chain type fare. Really unimpressive and basic.
Every thing was perfect!!!!!! Management (Ricky)was awesome so was the Bartender that waited on me!!!!! The food was great just need bigger T.V.'s for watching the skins play lol
Awful overpriced food. Horrendous service.
Sat outside on a busy Saturday--my expectations for service were pretty low given it was crowded. However, service was generally MIA from the beginning of our visit. Food was pretty mediocre and really no effort to check in on us during the meal, refill waters etc. Good place to hang out and drink, but I would avoid the food.
Awful experience,rude waitress
Vouldnt hear each other from across the table.. People were walking around and had their bacsides in our faces while trying to enjoy overpriced not that good tacos
Bar had Raider fans that crowded into the dinner area. Restaurant staff should have kept them to the bar area.my dad's 75th bday party celebration was memorable for the wrong reasons. Disappointed.
The atmosphere was very chill, which I liked. The service was great and our food came very quickly. Will definitely eat at again.
Great food and friendly service, beautiful riverside dinning. However, only reservations for inside can be made ahead. Outside dinner is a first come first serve basis.
Service was expected to be much better - food orders were completely messed up and one of my family members didn't even get to eat her meal at all. There was an issue with the seating - we were a group of 5 squeezed at a table meant for 4 - not as comfortable as it could have been.
Terriable service followed by terriable food. Reservations mean nothing here, we were sat right next to the bathroom.
The service and location are both great, but it is definitely overpriced considering the quality of the food. Much better options in the area!
Just okay.... a little overpriced .... better dining options around
Great service! We had reserved an inside table, but they graciously moved us to an unreservable outside table, and added space for four unexpected friends to join us. The crab cakes were wonderful. And, of course, the view is amazing. The interior was VERY loud when we ended up inside due to rain. Not a place for a quiet dinner.
We had a friend from Buffalo in town just for the evening. We came here for the riverside view which includes the Kennedy Center. But I was pleasantly surprised by how good the service was (before checking in the person in front me was given the hostess an earful about the poor service his group had received) as well as how tasty the food was. Lots of wine and beer selections though it is strange that some of the beers can only be ordered inside. (Nick, you should fix that!) All in all, we had a good time catching up while enjoying the food and view.
Maybe a bad day for a carne asada. The meat was tender, but probably marinated for 5 mins before it was cooked. The rice was cooked well enough but the flavor was like a washed out rice-o-roni. I wouldn't order it again. Service was good and we were seated promptly. Maybe just a place to get drinks for me in the future.
Great food and the key lime pie was awesome!
The outside patio area was very crowded. Was expecting a nice romantic dinner over looking the river. Food was better than expected.
The food was mediocre at best, the service was below average for the price we paid. The only thing that was worthwhile is the view: right on the river between Georgetown and Kennedy Center...
2nd time visit. Did not disappoint. A very popular venue.
Good location in Georgetown, service could have been a little better. Food was very good and good value for the area. Inside is noise than outside but it was too humid on the evening we were there. Would suggest reservations on the weekends for sure.
