   Surpassed expectations and bring your appetite! The setting is old school-ish (very nice) and although you initially get the impression it may be noisy due to table configurations it was not. Service was beyond fantastic and as above, bring your appetite: antipasto was superb, salad (Caesar) and appetizer (calamari fritti) were plenty for two and the entrees...YUM! Some reviewers felt it was a bit pricey but considering the quality of the food and portions, we felt it was well worth the cost. Also, they take GREAT care of you; they really do.

   Outstanding dinners. My husband loved one of the best lamb shank dinners he has ever had. My fresh halibut and asparagus were perfect. The servers were friendly, and attentive. Will definitely return.

   Terrific evening! Lovely table facing street (albeit not for persons too heavy as quite narrow, but we loved it!). Staff were friendly and professional, food was excellent, sommelier was very accommodating, chocolate cake desert was perfect. Overall a great experience.

    They are back in full force again. Great food, same original recipes as best I can tell. Warren took excellent care of us. Very enjoyable dinner. Great cocktails, food, and desserts. Will be back soon. I enthusiastically recommend it!

    The North Beach Restaurant is a San Francisco icon. The food is always excellent, with great seafood, house made pasta and the best quality veal in San Francisco. The cocktail program is innovative and the wine list is good. The servers are professional and friendly and the setting is very nice. This is a great place for locals and tourists.

    We’ve been coming to NBR for more than 20 years, when we come to San Francisco. Jim took care of us last night and the service, food and drinks were exceptional. It was louder than normal last night due to a large, loud party but that is not the typical vibe.

    Wonderful as usual. Food was fantastic and the service was great. When we inquired about the napkins that have s buttonnhole for tucking into a gentleman's shirt and where to buy them, the manager went and found some "retro" ones with the North Beach logo and sold them to us for $5 a piece. Wonderful, unique and useable souvenir! Typical of the customer oriented ethic. .

    I want to say that North Beach is one of my family's favorite restaurant in existence and that still hasn't changed. That said I'd like to offer some constructive criticism: Firstly upon entering we were greeted by the staff as usual and were quickly seated upon telling them of our reservations. The only problem with where we were seated and I admit this was more of an "us" problem, my family and I are admittedly on the "larger" side for weight and height. And so with the table we were given we were rather squished against the wall. To be fair, the view from the window was great and all we had to do was move the table 2 or so inches but it was still an inconvenience. We then ordered calamari appetizers and were quickly given a rather large (and pretty looking) platter of calamari suckers and tentacles. They were seasoned wonderfully but were a tad over cooked and so the texture on most were rubbery. Along with that, one of our diners ordered a martini and while I personally can't speak for how it was, they did complain that the olives in it were old and not frim. As dinner was brought out we enjoyed it but one of our diners was peeved that all the "sides" like vegetables and such were separate and a la carte. The reason he was peeved was because he wanted some veggies with his meal and because it was a la carte, it was a rather large serving that he couldn't finish. And on the subject of large servings, the calamari platter was very large, so much that I and another diner couldn't finish our dinners, for that I would suggest the menu might offer a clue to the size of the plates or how many people they think it might feed. The only other thing of note was the plate of someone's dinner was severely chipped on the underside and we worried it might break if used more. But aside from the things mentioned, the dinner was wonderous and the service was 10/10 5 stars service. I hope the restaurant stays open when I grow old and I take perhaps my kids there to enjoy it.

    My girlfriend and I went for our 5 year anniversary, and we had an amazing time. I want to specially recognize our waiter, Damian, who was extremely attentive and made our evening extra special. Seriously, some of the best service I’ve had at a restaurant, and the rest of the staff was extremely kind and friendly as well. Would definitely return!

    We first visited The North Beach restaurant in Mar 1971, on our honeymoon, and we've been going back ever since. Let night was a celebration of our 52nd anniversary, and we wanted to return to our great memories from 1971. The food was still outstanding, with our favorites, splitting an order of ravioli, saltimbocca for her cannelloni for me. Sharing a bottle of Champaign and an affagato dessert for me with a special dessert of the night for her. My only disappointment was the Zabaglione was not available last night...its been our favorite go to dessert for years. The staff was wonderful from the reception by the maitre de, to the wonderful service from Yahir, our waiter. Finally I want to commend the wine director, Indy Singh, who not only helped us with the selection of wine, but remembered to pay tribute to Lorenzo, the original founder and owner of the restaurant.

    This restaurant is outstanding! From the moment we walked in, we felt at home- the maitre d, our server Jim and their crew gave us the best service- lobster tail appetizer outstanding, California halibut - perfect and even anisette for the espresso!
