I had a reservation and got seated quickly and the Trout Parmesan is my favorite and was absolutely delicious.
Both of us had omelets - they were fabulous! Definitely try the fries, they were like small fried potatoes with a really good seasoning!
The double fried chicken wings are crunchy and delicious
The crab cakes were amazing. Supposedly the oldest saloon in DC, however it moved around a lot, so I’m not sure it can actually be considered that. Probably the best meal we had all week! Service was pretty good, a little slow at times, but the food came out super fast.
A classic restaurant that continually provides outstanding service, good food and a great setting for any occasion. One of my go-to restaurants when I am in D.C.!
Our server was excellent. We made a reservation for two and were seated at a table for two that had two other tables close on each side. Meanwhile, a booth was available and when we were not seated there figured it was reserved for a party of four. Then a party of two was seated there after us. I would have liked to have been asked our preference. Would have been nice.
Outstanding atmosphere, food is great and the service rocks.
outstanding , i been going there for 25 years, never disapointed
2 visits-The food was Good, the server was mediocre both times, 2 different servers. Both were dry, uninterested in providing good service and lacked personality.
I have visited this establishment on several occasions and have had the best dining experience each time. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Old Ebbitt Grill.
Excellent service and fantastic food. We enjoy a dinner with quiet surroundings.
What an honor to dine there! Great DC EXPERIENCE!!
A DC icon that people wil flock to regardksss of reviews. I’m glad I went but I don’t know if I’d go back.
It was crazy busy on a Sunday lunchtime. We were seated 15 mins after our reservation. Service was quick but the host was not welcoming. I had corned beef hash cake but it was burnt underneath and not hot. My family all enjoyed their meals so I think I just got a bad dish.
Egg Benedict Chesapeake was wonderful. Very nice restaurant with lots of character. $18-25 avg meal. Very much worth the visit for a special occasion.
The Old Ebbitt Grill exceeded my expectations. It is in a touristy spot and has been a DC staple forever. The food was great and our service was excellent. I will definitely be back.
Historic restaurant in the heart of Washington DC near the White House
It was busy but not crazy. Even with a reservation we had to wait to be seated, but it wasn’t any more than three or four minutes. Always love the half price oysters.
It's cool. Great.
We made an open table reservation for 2 PM and showed up 20 minutes early. For people with no reservations there was an hour and 45 minute wait. We were seated at exactly 2 PM close to the maître d’ stand and quite noisy. The host graciously re-seated us in a quieter area of the restaurant. I’m sure that that was not easy under the circumstances. The food and the service were outstanding. The Old Ebbitt Grill enjoys a well-deserved excellent reputation.
This is one of my favorite restaurants that I frequent a lot.
Nice place, the service was outstanding and the food good.
It really is two restaurants; one in the front, and one beyond the back doors in the atrium of the office building. We had a reservation and sat in the latter. It was quiet and civilized. The front, however, which we were fortunate enough to only walk through, is a total zoo. It was loud—really loud. It was crowded—really crowded. So crowded there was barely room to enter the check in area through the revolving door.
The front is a terrible tourist trap to be avoided at all cost. Perhaps our reservation accounted for our good fortune to escape the front. Perhaps we were just lucky. In any event, I would not go again without assurance we can sit in the atrium.
Our waitress was friendly, unrushed, and professional. The food was just ok; forgettable and maybe a bit disappointing. The prices seemed slightly high.
We were uncomfortable because of the noise. My date kept complaining that he couldn’t hear me across the table. Suggest adding features that control noise. Otherwise it was great but the noise did diminish our enjoyment
Wonderful experience. A little hiccup to start as our reservation wasn’t ready and then apparently given away to someone else but was corrected as soon as I brought it to their attention. Our server was wonderful and food was fantastic. Will come back next time we are in the area.
We saw a mouse running around the dining room. My friend got food posioning the same night. Will never go back or recommend to anyone visiting.
Unbelievable service! Great ambiance!
Great food. Oysters are amazing! Love this place! The wine list is great and they have a wide variety of different foods available.
This was a great lunch with out of town family! Very authentic Washington spot. Food and service were superior. We will definitely be back!
Glad to have had a reservation. Worth the experience.
Great place for dinner! Make a reservation- it gets busy!
Don't miss this historic gem nestled right next to the White House and walking distance to theaters. You cannot get better oysters anywhere. If you want quiet though, this is not the place for you. I will go again and again whenever I got to the theater.
Very inattentive service. Sweetener for iced tea never arrived. (Had to ask to borrow from nearby table.) Sole half refill of iced tea had no ice. Waitress never asked how food was. Had to ask another waiter for side of ranch. If I get her again, I will ask to move tables.
We love the Old Ebbitt. It has great ambiance and cuisine. It does get crowded after 12:30 and, therefore, noisier.
Old Ebbit is a long time favorite that I’ve been going to for 25 years! Since my first visit in 1997, it has never disappointed and consistently serves great food in a great atmosphere!
Always a great place for a meeting or social event.
Good. But has been better when I’ve been before. Crab cakes are always great. Service was a bit slow this time too.
3rd most busy restaurant in the US. Across the street from the White House and Historic Buildings. Hopping place. Comfortable atmosphere. Good food and service.
Any visit to DcC includes a meal at Ebbits grill. Great menu and service
Our waiter was very inattentive, and we were seated next to the the silverware drawer where the waiters got the silverware from, so very noisy and busy. The group next to us, that came in after us got their drinks and menus before we did. The food was very good, but the ambiance just took too much away for me to recommend it.
