Old Ebbitt Grill
On a recent trip to DC We were looking for a Family-friendly restaurant with good seafood. Old Ebbitt Grill’s oyster happy hour (6 different types of oysters, all excellent), and their something-for-everyone menu was delicious and ticked all the boxes. Waitstaff was attentive and helpful with recommendations. Decor was lovely. Atmosphere busy and lively, but we never felt rushed. Portions are good size and prices are very reasonable. We will definitely return.
Sat at the bar and Steve was fabulous!!
Truly exceptional experience from greeting to valet! The food was delicious we had oysters, scallops and crab cake. The pear sangria was delicious!
I was visiting DC and I found this under the most popular restaurants and made a reservation right away (I made a reservation for lunch, I wanted to go to dinner there the previous night but it was not available). I arrived 20 min before my reservation and was seated right away. I loved the whole mood of the place as well as the decor. We got seated in and area off to the side which was quiet, the middle was more noisy. The food I ordered came out very quickly and was very delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is visiting DC.
Great steak and eggs!!
Exceptional service and the food was outstanding! Loved it! Highly recommend!
Our experience was terrific. We had our our 10 year old grandson with us and he had a great time. Service was very good, never rushed. It was our first time there and my concern was, because it’s so busy we would be rushed to turn the table. Not the case at all. Also, scallops were great.
Our meal was half good, half not do good. The mussels appetizer we shared was delicious. My husband ordered happy hour priced oysters and steamed shrimp. The oysters were good, the shrimp overcooked. He told our server who did take the shrimp off of our final bill. I ordered their “signature” crab cake dinner. The crab cake was over breaded, the slaw was mediocre ... but the fries were very good. So kind of a disappointing mixed bag. We DID get seated just 5 minutes after our 5:30 pm reservation time - which doesn’t happen that often in this always very, very busy restaurant.
Food was fantastic, service was quick and everything was correct, friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely recommend.
Their Happy Hour oyster deal is good deal. It can get quite busy and reservations are a must. The service is a little slow because of the volume of people that they have to serve. We enjoyed the atmosphere, decor and history of the place.
Excellent as always
Very nice, felt a little rushed!
Beautiful, historic tavern/restaurant. Excellent food selection. I had the Chesapeake Bennie; delicious! It was crowded so good to have reservations!
Had a wonderful
Service was great our server was attentive and friendly the eggs Benedict and grits were top notch and the bloody Mary and oysters were excellent !!
Looking forward to going back next time in DC
It was so wonderful! Our server, Katia, was extremely attentive and engaging. She was very knowledgeable, sharing with us the history of the restaurant. She had great suggestions for the menu based on our tastes, and most of all, allowed us to dine. She was a delight! We never felt rushed. She made our experience exceptional!
This was not a dining. This was an experience!
The oyster happy hour is phenomenal! Raw bar, shrimp and lobster are the freshest I’ve ever had!
Good food and service. Wonderful atmosphere!
Love happy hour shrimp and oyster deals
Food was really good! Cooked to perfection, not over seasoned, not over cooked. Serving size was well worth the money spent. Service was great, wait staff stayed on top of things even though it was extremely busy that night. Only issue I had was that the tables where really close. It made it difficult to sit down without bumping into the next table. We actually had to move or table just to get out. The surrounding tables had the same issue. The customers ended up helping each other move tables just so they could get in and out. I will go back though. Next time I'll just ask for a booth. Statesville
Service was great. They did stall a bit in between starters and Entree. Besides that great time great food great service will go back.
Food was not hot, barely warm
Table had huge piece of foam missing, and they covered it with a cloth
Our waiter Justin was outstanding. The table was one of the few where we could sit in a corner and look out at everything. It was perfect.
Hadn’t been in several years. Seems to have suffered the fate of all Once unique things. Great waiter. But everything else like a conveyor belt.
One of the hostesses, a brunette; was rude and disrespectful. When she began to raise her voice, a colleague of hers, who was blonde with curly hair, stepped in and seated us right away.
Fantastic service. Fantastic food. Server had wonderful recommendations.
Whenever something came up and we needed it, the servers were quick to respond and fulfill our requests.
We had a reservation booked a month in advance. We were seated at a card table near the end of the back bar. Due to the small space (since it clearly wasn’t a regular table), the wait staff kept bumping into my chair all night. Terrible
We had a wonderful server who was quite attentive in spite of the number of tables she had. The food was great and she worked with the kitchen to accommodate my desire for a vegetarian pasta.
Seeing family and Valentines date 2020 with 2 beautiful women in my life
yes I would highly recommend Old Ebbitt's Grill we really enjoy this restuarant
The meal was great and the app really helped reserving a table. When we arrived we immediately sat down and enjoyed a good meal. The waiters were friendly and very helpful deciding of what to eat. Would def eat there again.
Great food enjoyed the oysters, crab cakes and manhattans!!
Dined on a Thursday night that was crazy busy and they still can provide the best food and service anywhere. The pricing is reasonable and we found everything done with care and the finest ingredients. I had the oysters Rockefeller - the best I can remember. My wife asked for steamed clams and although they are not on the menu - they delivered a dozen tender ones. My filet was perfect and my wife enjoyed her scallops. Yes, we are from the old school but it is a pleasure to have excellent american fare provided in comfortable surroundings and with attentive and efficient service.
We've been to the grill many times for both lunch and dinner. Always have a great time. Very vibrant (and noisy) atmosphere, excellent service from all the staff, and good basic food. They crab cakes are among the best. My filet was perfectly cooked. And, they have an excellent wine list, both by the glass and bottle with a good price range.
Wonderful date-night dinner for my wife and I before going to the National Theatre, around the corner. Bustling, busy restaurant: very full, with tables refilled as soon a party left. Food was generally excellent and tasty. I ordered my salmon done rare and it came out at least medium, but the meal was still great. My wife had the broiled scallops and they were prepared superbly. Waiter was friendly and perhaps a little too chummy - but both his food and his wine recommendations were spot on. Great restaurant for the "eating out in DC experience," but don't go here if you're looking for a quiet, private evening. Every table was full the whole time we were there. We will go back again!
Had to accept a 4:45pm reservation when 6:30pm was requested. Was given lunch menu which had a much narrower selection, particularly of seafood which is why we went there to eat. On the plus side, we were there at the right time for happy hour for mussels, oysters and shrimp. Overall experience was good. The ambience was great the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. Would go again.
Staff were professional. Very attentive to the customers request.
Birthday celebration. We started with the Farmhouse cheese sampler! Very tasty! Then we split a market salad which was perfect size. My husband had the Atlantic pan seared Salmon for his entree. It came with lentils & sauté spinach. I had my favorite, Trout Parmesan with hollandaise sauce. Always delicious! It came with garlic red potato & green beans.
Our waiter, Ryan gave us great service. He was attentive making sure our glasses were never empty. We totally enjoyed our meal at Old Ebbitt Grill.
