Palmer's American Grill
lovely dinner- restaurant week - wanted to try something new and very nice
This was a weird experience. It was restaurant week and Palmers is a participating restaurant. We made our reservation on the Restaurant week website and it went through Open Table.
We tried to get 6 or 6:30 but nothing was available so we took a 7pm reservation at a high top table. Not a big deal.
So, we get there right at 7 and are told it will just be few minutes. Awesome! Then the hostess comes over and apologizes to us because only a regular table is available and she asks us if that will be alright. Score!
So we sit down at about 7:05 and order a glass of wine and ask for the restaurant week menus because the ones the hostess gave us are the regular ones.
The waiter brings us the proper menus and out wine.
As we start to discuss what we want, the waiter comes back and imforms us that in order to get the restaurant week deal we had to have been seated by 6:30.
We politely tell the waiter that we made the reservation through the Restaurant week website and at no time did a time restriction come up. He leaves and speaks to his manager and then returns and allows us to order from that menu.
So the funny part:
I don't know if I've ever been served and had my plates cleared so quickly. They were trying to take plates before we were done with them! It was actually comical.
Now, we get it. They weren't making much money off of us and they just wanted to move us along and for some bigger spenders in those seats.
From our perspective though, it was great. We didn't want to stay out late (although if we had been served a bit slower we might have ordered another glass of wine) and we had no problem being rushed because we understood the restaurants position.
So long story short. We got there at 7, were seated at 5 after and had eaten 3 courses and paid our bill and was out the door at 7:50!
Food was good too!
Food and drinks were good. Waitress was non existent! Saw more bus boys then the waitress.
My husband and I were coming from a funeral service, And we’re hungry. So I asked open table to find the best restaurant for steak using my current location, and palmers came up. We selected the only seats left which were high top in the bar. We actually like the seats and I booked us a reservation online. Our reservation was in 10 minutes, and the directions said we would be there in six minutes. Perfect! And so was everything that followed as you can see by this review.
We had a wonderful Anniversary Dinner. Service was terrific. Our waitress, Jelyca couldn't have been nicer. Food was delicious, definitely a place to return to.
The waiter Abe made the night. He had a great sense of humor and made our dining experience more enjoyable
our table ready upon arrival. restaurant week menus used. courses came quite fast, maybe a tad too fast. main courses and dessert portion sizes a little small and not all hot. not rushed out when having coffee. waitress most helpful. a very busy friday night.
First time there, we had a great time, enjoyed the food and service. Great value. We will return.
We were given 3 menus Restaurant Week, Ladies Night (Thursday) and a la carte. The Ladies Night menu was less costly than Restaurant week, had more choices and offered a $20 bottle of wine.
Food was outstanding and plentyful. My only complaint was the noise level, not the fault of the Restaurant. And yes, the tables were packed with ladies. I counted only 6 men there at 630, all tables full.
I guess the Gentlemen stay clear on Thursdays.
Restaurant location is very difficult to find when using a GPS.
Food tasty, service was good and atmosphere was nice.
Unfortunately, the steak I ordered came room temperature. When I was able to find the waitress and tell her... she stated she would advise the owner. Whether she advised the owner or not... I would never know because no one came back to us.
Also, we dined on Wednesday night. It just so happened that there was an advertisement in the paper that was promoting drinks on Wednesday’s for $5 and $6 in addition to specialty martinis for $9.00. How I read the promotion was that only the specialty martinis needed to be purchased at the bar... if the ad had this promotion specifying ON TOP of the ad ... “at bar only” I would have agreed ... but “at the bar” was only in the lowest portion of the ad below the $9.00 martinis. So my $5.00 or $6.00 drink cost me $10.25... that disappointed me as well.
Cie la vie!
The service was great. We arrived a few minutes early. We were missing 2 people in our party and they seated us anyway. The food was was a little disappointing as it was just ok.
Always a great dining experience at Palmer's. Good food, good service and good drinks!

Had a wonderful evening
Food excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent service and food. Good variety of choices.
our table for four was ready for us as we arrived. waitress over eager and a bit intrusive. not too interested in how we were doing and once served. runners had no clue which table to go to or who got the food. food was good. prices are high. this is long island. it’s a good restaurant but not a five star fine dining one. prices should be lower accordingly.
Anniversary dinner and the owner was kind enough to take care of our coffee and dessert
Good if you’re 80
Food was ok not great
Ordered Lobster Bique wasn't bad just no lobster I it. And not 2 minutes later dinner came out, ordered the pasta with filet mignon it was missing flavor pasta was cooked perfect but the dish needed salt or seasoning.

Great veggie burger.
Disappointed they were out of their French toast.
We went with our family to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
It was a last minute reservation and we added an extra person 2 hours before the meal.
The management was accommodating and the staff was friendly and efficient. I will recommend the restaurant to others.
It was very pleasant. The food was delicious. The staff was accommodating and attentive. Brought friends who were there for the first time and they were happy with my choice, I’ve been there many times before. It’s consistently good.
Haven’t been here for awhile but thoroughly enjoyed it. Thursday evening 3 course special was really great and our server and bus person were terrific.
