Food service was very slow on a busy Saturday night. Street performer playing saxophone on sidewalk right outside the restaurant was awful and made it painful to eat outside. Waiter actually apologized to patrons for the bad music.
Skip this place. Took 45 minutes to even get bread. Food was subpar and service was poor. No followup for water , anything.
We have eaten there before and returned with friends of ours to introduce them to this lovely dining experience. They both enjoyed their food tremendously. We will be back again.
The dinner at Piccolo Bistro was excellent! The sole was prepared to perfection and the Caprese salad was comprised of fresh tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. Sitting outside was the perfect ambiance until a storm came up forcing us inside. This was done effortlessly and quickly. We were not rushed; allowed to linger over lemon sorbet and decaf coffee. My friends and I are looking forward to returning in the near future and highly recommend this dining experience!!!
Food, service and ambience were all wonderful! We wish they hadn’t taken so long to open our wine - but no big deal. It was a busy night! Burratta - delicious! GF pasta was excellent. Lamb chop special was delicious - small portion, but as expected with lamb chops - cooked perfectly medium rare. All six people in our party were happy!!😊
Cute place. Food is good!
Fantastic birthday dinner
We will be back!
We love this restaurant and keep returning because of the great food and warm greeting we receive each time from the owners! Our waiter was very patient as I have several food allergies and made sure that I could modify my order. This time however, it took quite long to get our main dishes(over an hour from the time we were seated) so we were a bit surprised, but still intend to keep returning.
Perfect, fresh pasta. Great, caring service. A nice outdoor covered patio space that is NOT on the sidewalk.
Food and service was great! Really enjoyed the meal. Had the tagliatelle Nero which tasted so fresh. Unfortunately unable to sit in the lovely outdoors patio because it was 95 degrees, but it looked beautiful!
We love this place. The food is delicious and the kitchen is so accommodating to our fussiness. It is a BYO and we never have a complaint. Quiet! So unusual in many places and we have comfortable conversations. My book club now meets here monthly because of the ambiance and food. Highly recommend
Authentically prepared Italian and Italian American cuisine. Wonderful flavors. Attentive service. Casual trattoria like setting.(in or out). BYOB. Above all very attentive service (thanks Marco). At the top of our list when thinking of places to go in Ridgewood.
Went here twice in one week- with better food and experience at lunch than at dinner. Lunch salads were good, along with superb broccoli rabe. At dinner we sat outside, enjoying being protected from the rain. Our octopus with garbanzos and roasted red peppers was tasty but overly salted. Mains were a slightly tough veal chop, served with tasty layered parsnips and carrots; chicken Francese that was fine, and papardelle in a lamb ragu sauce that was ok. Things seemed tastier at lunch- but service was superb; and the tiramisu was terrific. It’s BYOB which is always a plus!
You can never go wrong dining at this fabulous local gem. The food is tremendous and the service is outstanding
Always feels like home in this state of the art dining experience
We are regulars and wouldn’t have it any other way
Wasn't impressed with the food. The appetizer that was a special for the night. It was eggplant and it was burnt on the bottom and could not cut through it with a knife. I showed the waiter and he said nothing. I had the sausage with penne vodka. Vodka sauce was good, sausage not so good. Did not eat any of the sausage. Garden outdoor setting is nice, but not a place I would visit again.
We had lovely time and our server was excellent. He went above and beyond anticipating the needs of my elderly parents and extra guests and food allergies. Great experience.
We love this place but that night was disappointing. The waiter forgot about us. It took forever to get our dinners and they were dry perhaps overlooked but seemed like they were sitting for a while. We took people here and bragged about it beforehand and we had to go to the counter to get our check at the end of the night. Too bad. We hope they figure out what seems to be wrong because we loved it.
Picolo Bistro delivers excellence again! Wonderful evening with fresh, delicious food. Great value and we leave with smiles on our faces as we are treated like family
We will return again and again
Great food and sat outside which was an enjoyable experience!!
My husband and I made reservations for 8pm for outdoor dining on a Friday night, and while the ambience was nice that was it. It was extremely busy and we waited an hour for our appetizer (a salad) to arrive. We finally received our entree at 9:45pm. We thought after the long wait that our sea bass would be amazing, but it was nothing special. We ordered the same dish and both felt like the quality of the fish and sides did not reflect a dish worth $35. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but I wouldn’t want anyone to have a similar experience.
It was mediocre, probably will not return, it’s a shame because the outdoor dining area and the interior are both very cozy, but the food was just average at above average prices.
The food and service was great. We loved the outdoor seating area. The bronzino was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back to this Ridgewood gem.
We really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend the restaurant.
The food was okay but it took over 2 hours to get our entrees. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we didn’t eat until after 9:30. It would have been fine if they gave us a heads up that the kitchen is behind but nope they didn’t do that! Probably won’t go back again.
When we arrived the waiter came right over, welcomed us and gave us the specials. As items came from the kitchen, he showed them to us as he knew it was out first time. All good. We sat a bit then gave our order. That was the last we saw of him until after asking for him 3 times in the 20 minutes after we ate. No one asked how our food was so let me tell you. The eggplant croquets were adequate and covered with a vodka sauce. The Burrata was also fine. That was where it ended. My pasta was so over done that it broke apart as I brought it to my mouth. The salmon and fish specials were so dry and over cooked that only a couple bites could be eaten and the lobster ravioli had no lobster or lobster taste. When I asked my son about the squid pasta, all he did was shrug. We will not be going back or recommending this restaurant.
People there were really attentive and the food was really good. The prices were not over the top for the quality
There is a reason why customers return to a restaurant time and time again.
Great, fresh food at a reasonable price is a huge factor. But at Picolo Bistro that X factor is there which is described as over the top service where each meal is customized to the Patton’s preference.
The homey atmosphere and warm welcome truly makes one feel like they are coming home. There is a great comfort in quality food but this is matched with the kindness and sensitivity of the staff and owners of Picolo Bistro, our family’s Go To for a wonderful experience
It was an average meal.not exceptional, wouldn’t bring me back. Restaurant could use a renovation. Almost too dark.
This was our fifth time dining here and probably our last
We both ordered the special appetizer - no pricing given by our waiter. The grilled octopus was very rubbery!! unedible.
We also ordered the dinner specials (again no pricing) I had the osso bucco - very good
but the lobster ravioli with shrimp arrived tepid. The sauce was congealed.....
we were very disappointed. Our bill was $110. ! no dessert and BYOB
The service was very good but the presentation was ok but the plates for all 4 people was ice cold therefore the food got very cold very fast. Menu selection was just ok. They need to work on the menu and flavors of the food. They need a new chief, since the place is nice, the people were great. I feel they have a chance if they do something with the food.
Great meal. Table was ready on time. Server was very good. Food was great ... we both ordered specials. My slow w crabmeat was excellent. Sauce was great. Husband had lambshank over risotto. It was excellent
We will definitely go back. Homey small Italian w/ excellent food, good menu and great staff.
Everyday dining- the food was outstanding- service very good - we will be back
Once again a terrific meal. 1/2 roasted chicken delicious. Best Tiramasu is made right there and is perfectly scrumptious. Looking forward to return. Yum 😋
Birthday celebration. Party of 4 and everything was delicious. Service was good. Would strongly recommend.
My husband and I went back to Piccolo Bistro for the second time recently. The food was outstanding... just as we had remembered it! We were greeted warmly by the owner who remembered us and seated at a lovely table for 2. Our waiter was excellent and the service impeccable. He even came back with a complimentary dessert that I had mentioned I liked. The ambience is wonderful and I would highly recommend Piccolo Bistro.
This place is consistently one of the best restaurants in Ridgewood. Flavors are spot on, food is cooked to a degree of perfection and service is excellent. Value/price to pleasure ratio hits the spot. Date and I shared a salad, then he had veal chop (the best I’ve ever tasted), and I had salmon. InI had this before and have been thinking about it since...skin is potato chip crispy, and sides are perfect.
Celebrating two b days couldn’t have done it in a better place. We ordered one delicious dessert and they brought yet another different delicious one. So sweet. This was our 2nd visit a d looking forward to returning in two weeks. Celebrating yet another b day. Great food. Yum 😀
Nice spot and we had a nice greeting, table, and server. Unfortunately, the food was bland across the board. We had the fried calamari (heavily breaded and no flavor). We then had (2) specials: Almond crusted sole and a veal dish. The fish was unremarkable simply with sliced almonds. Not sure what the veal dish was but it tasted like a bad pot roast. It was a huge portion but was over very bland risotto. Desert was ok but by then we were jaded. Maybe we just ordered the wrong food, but I typically get specials on my first visit to a restaurant.
The food was amazing and was just the right portion! The owner and the waitresses are very welcoming. Would definitely recommend the bistecca steak, it was cooked to perfection. The outdoor seating is perfect when it’s nice outside. The desserts are also phenomenal.
