Outstanding when it comes to quality of food, delightful service, and good value (for San Francisco). The only downfall is that you are practically touching elbows with the diners next to you. No, we were not at the communal table. We had reservations. But our table was barely 1 inch away from the diners next to us. People, and servers, we’re barely getting past us.

Location is convenient and the decor is nice, but I don't think we will be returning to A Mano. The service was lacking - we had our dirty appetizer plates sitting in front of us until after our mains were served. The tables were also really small, so having these extra plates and a water pitcher made everything feel really cramped. The food was fine - nothing special but not bad either. Honestly our favorite part was the bottle of wine.

The location was perfect for going to Herbst Theater! We were able to get same day reservations. Our service was fast and friendly. The menu was lovely. There were many delicious looking entres to choose from. Our selections were so wonderful. Our server listened to the order in which we wanted our food delivered and did so accordingly. We'd go back in a heart beat!

Appetizers were good. We ordered the olives, focaccia (pass), meatballs, arancini, cauliflower. The bucatini and bolognese were good, not great. the margarita pizza I was told was good. the burrata salad looked fine. The Nutella sundae was the best part of the night. Panna Cotta had good texture, if you like orange marmalade, then you will like the flavor. I am not a huge orange marmalade fan. The other chocolate dessert was also good, like a chocolate mousse but not as tasty as the Nutella Sundae. The portion sizes are reasonable and the price is fair.

a Mano is a go to place for a dinner before a jazz concert, symphony, opera or ballet. The food and cocktails are excellent, and the service is as well. They are very accommodative when you have to rush to an event.
