Alan Wong’s Hawaii Regional Cuisine – A cooking style that borrows from all the ethnic influences found in Hawaii using freshly farmed ingredients from the land and fish from our seas. Enjoy our favorite local flavors we grew up eating and Taste Hawaii. *Please inform us of any food allergies or special dietary needs at least 72 hrs in advance. Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: Alan Wong's return to Honolulu landed with much fanfare at The Kahala Hotel and Resort, where chef de cuisine Spencer Yamanaka carries forward the James Beard Award-winning chef’s legacy. The "Soup and Sandwich" sets the tone: chilled tomato soup alongside a grilled cheese layered with kalua pig and foie gras. Then order the ginger-crusted onaga with miso sesame vinaigrette and Kahuku corn. It goes best with a passionfruit mojito. Oceanfront views and a refined but unhurried room complete the picture.

We are so glad the restaurant reopened! Da Bag has been my all time favorite and it’s still superb. Steamed Onaga is fresh, moist, tender, and tasty. Service is personal and attentive.

We have excitingly been waiting for our reservation at Alan Wongs and it was better than we anticipated, as we had fond memories of the pineapple room! Service was first off, very kind and made us feel welcomed even after I had added two more to the reservation. First off, the bread in itself was a standout and you add the butter and another dip, that alone will have you coming back for more. I had the RR ranch prime grade Steak (RR may as well mean Rolls Royce)and it was top notch, just flawless. We had shared crab and shrimp Gcakes! Excellent, avocado and Ahi, excellent, the kalbi entrees Excellent and my daughter had the ginger crusted Onaga red snapper! We were taken care of by Charlotte and you are in the best of hands with her, seriously a Pro! So yes the whole evening from valet to table service was excellent and would be hard to beat from any restaurant in Honolulu. Thank you.

Attentive service from check in through meal service, without being overbearing. Inventive, fresh, tasty seafood panna cotta appetizer and seafood main courses. White and red wines by the glass were available and was enjoyed. IMHO, fish does not need dim sum style shrimp/pork hash topping. Hot from the oven rolls had a nice crispy exterior and a soft interior, which was enhanced with the moderately spicy aioli. It was tempting to just keep eating the rolls! We did not leave room for dessert unfortunately….. next time! Thanks for a lovely evening!

This was our first visit to Alan Wong's, and from our experience, it will not be the last. Formerly known as Hoku's, the fine dining restaurant became Alan Wong's about 7 months ago. The ambience was very nice, since it's right next to the beach. The large windows enabled us to watch a couple of para-surfers enjoying their time in the water. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't too friendly, but it was not pouring rain, so the surfers seemed safe. We were celebrating my birthday and as an appetizer, hubby ordered "da bag," a clam-lover's delight. I did not partake as in my old age, although I have an appetite (I do feel hungry), I can't eat as much as in my younger days. For his entree, he order a ginger-crusted long tailed red snapper, which he enjoyed so much, he just about licked the plate when he was done. As for myself, I ordered a kalbi-style twice-cooked short ribs dish. The meat was so tender (I mean, it was twice-cooked, after all), the meat fell gently apart once I inserted my steak knife into it. It was sweet, juicy and delicious. I couldn't finish my portion and had what I couldn't finish packaged for later consumption. The service staff was friendly and welcoming, made great suggestions and very efficient. Although we can't afford to come every month, we will certainly book this place for another special occasion.

This was the first time we were there, and we highly recommend it !!! Every dish we ate was delicious ...Dunganess crab & shrimp cakes, shumai terracotta, tuna poke, lamb chomps with coconut crust, and tuna prepared with ginger & corn which was for red snapper...but I switched it up And they were great about it. Our server Daniel was phenomenal! They also have a wonderful libation list. Danielle at the front desk was also accommodating! This was our first meal on our vacation...and was the perfect way to start it !

Service is excellent. Food good +. Best Crab/Shrimp cake. Grilled cheese and tomato soup good. Sandwich was a little greasy. Coconut desert was great!

It just doesn’t get any better. The entire crew, the most humble, talented chef that thinks outside the box and that’s very rare. Easily our favorite restaurant in the United States at this time.
