Atmosphere was so comfortable and enjoyable! Pizza was good enough, but this place is a great spot to enjoy a meal! Staff was fantastic. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends.
I love the pizza at Alto Fumo, formerly Faccia Luna. I really don't understand why they changed the name? If in an effort to "rebrand" nothing has changed except the name and a few additional food items. While I love their pizza, it's one of my favorites in the area, the restaurant is quite disappointing. The restrooms are gross and the dining room feels dirty. Luckily last night it was nice enough to eat outside. Great location great pizza but for me it's an eat and run kind of place.
Enjoyed Delicious food and fun outdoor dining for send off dinner for our adult kids
Good pizza, although we went there for brunch and they no longer have a brunch menu. Good food though!
Fast and casual and always good
I had a reservation for 9:00 and was fine waiting a little longer to sit outside on the patio. However, the hostess completely forgot about us. Several people that came in after us were seated before us. It wasn't until the bartender said something to the hostess after we had been waiting for almost 45 minutes that we were finally seated. The bartender was great and was tipped very well but the rest of the staff there is pretty incompetent. The food was average and not worth the wait. Will not be going back.
Great happy hour prices but poor service. We sat outside and waited 15 minutes to be greeted even with multiple servers coming in and out. By the time someone took our drink order we only had time for one happy hour priced drink. Drinks took another 15 to come out from the bar. Mojito was small but made very well and only $4 on HH. Pizza was good but not good enough to make me want to return.
Good service but pizza wasn't the best. It was good, but there's other Italian pizza in the area I would go to instead. Wanted to try because it was newer to Arlington. Marinara for the fried ravioli was flavorful
I had a very pleasant and flavorful meal with my neice on a Sunday evening. The food was excellent (toasted ravioli appetizer; lobster ravioli entree; killer chocolate cheesecake) and it was a real pleasure to be able to sit outside. I will definitely be back.
Great wait service, friendly team. We loved our pizzas, and I loved my beet and goat cheese salad. The tira misu was mediocre, but you don't go to these places for desserts. I would definitely go again!
We had ordered two orange crushes from the happy hour menu when they came out one was very light and filled heavily with liquor and the other heavy with orange juice, after a few minutes the waiter came out and I explained that we would like to send these back and get two beers. After a few minutes he came back with our beers and a few minutes before our pizzas came out the bartender came out to question us about what was wrong with the drinks. I am have been a chef for over a decade and I manage a highly successful restaurant in dc and this service today was lackluster and combative , it was my wife and I’s first time there we live in Ballston and sadly we will not be back.
The staff was great! They were nice enough to play the Caps game with the sound on.
Great overall experience. We had a large party and they were accommodating to the space we needed.
The food and service were excellent. We were a large family group and they accommodated us nicely. We will definitely be back.
Food and service were great as usual. The staff and owner were super friendly and accommodating. Loved it.
The pizza was INCREDIBLE. It took forever. We knew it was fired and would take a while, but the restaurant was not busy and it took much longer than we expected.
Service wasn’t ready and food was not good. Very overpriced.
Overall just a miss. All the pastas were “meh.” Maybe we’ll come back and try the pizza.
Really good beet salad and pizza!
Pasta and Pizza really wasn’t all that impressive. I expected a little more for an Italian restaurant.
Pasta with pesto cream sauce was amazing! Pizza was delicious as well
We had wanted to try Alto Fumo, in part because the owner live in our Arlington Neighborhood but also because we had gotten excellent reviews of the place. When we wanted to meet with another couple over dinner we thought we'd give it a try. The service was attentive and the food excellent. One of our friends had the grilled Salmon which came with homemade pasta that she raved about. I had the Stromboli which is a bit different an more like a Calzone without the ricotta cheese. (Which is also available.) My wife had the vegetarian lasagna which she really enjoyed.
All in all we will definitely be back.
This still feels and tastes like the old Faccia Luna. Same artwork on the walls, even! Food is dependable and good. All our pastas, seafood and pizza were top notch. My main gripe is that the noise level is just too much. I could not hear my girlfriend's voice from across the table. And I don't dig the TVs, which seem like an odd addition to a cozy Italian restaurant. If you want to have a meal engaged in meaningful conversation with your family or a loved one, this is not the place. If you'd rather be in a loud environment where your kids are zombified by the TVs and you don't care to listen to anyone around your table, make your reservation today!
Fantastic food at a very reasonable city price. The pizza and pastas were perfect. The homemade desserts which we got to go were amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meal and our service was always right on with drinks being refilled and a waiter who was on the spot.
This is a newer re-brand of an existing restaurant and unfortunately, underdelivered for us.
Starting with the drink menu, they show a strong selection of craft beers on menu, but many were out (Caboose was out but still listed at the top of the beer menu) and mis-labeled (Port City Wit was on tap, but Port City IPA was on the menu). This resulted in us getting the wrong beers because we ordered "The Port City" expecting it to be an IPA as it said on the menu. The waitress did not clarify the beer had changed or was mis-labeled.
The bright spot of our meal was the pizza. This place as GREAT pizza!
A close second was the Calamari Cesar Salad. A really unique item that was well received!
Otherwise, the food was simply OK.
Their sandwiches say they come with "fries" on the menu, but our sandwich was delivered to our table with potato chips that were clearly not made in house.
The Bruschetta appetizer came with generous pieces of toasted bread, but not enough tomato topping for the amount of bread provided.
Overall we'll probably come back for Pizza, but our expectations were that the refresh of the restaurant was going to deliver a truly great Italian spot in Clarendon. On that front, it fails to deliver.
The best pizza in Clarendon by far
We enjoyed a very good meal at Alto Fumo!
The mussels were fresh & tasty in the white wine sauce.
The house salad & Arugula/Beet salad were fresh & dressed well! Vegetarian lasagna, spaghetti & meatballs were delish with a nice pomodoro sauce! The jambalaya was seasoned well with a nice spicy kick.
Service was attentive & timely.
It was a perfect casual pizza apps and wine with friends
Very yummy! Loved the salmon with pesto ( which tasted homemade and like fresh basil)!
I went to Alto Fumo with a friend for brunch. They had great food options and the food was delicious. Their house made cannoli was absolutely fabulous. It is on the pricier side, but pretty average prices for the area (in the heart of Clarendon). Service was really great, but my friend and I were the only people there on a Sunday afternoon. Service quality and noise level may be different when the restaurant is busier.
DC has either Neapolitan Pizza or Dominos/Jumbo Slice. There is Petes and Wise Guys which definitely hit the spot, but Petes is overpriced and Wise Guys is a little expensive. Alto Fumo provides great standard pizza that makes me feel like I am in Philly or NJ area. Overall nice dining experience. You can tell they are a newer restaurant and working out the kinks, but that did not bother my party or me one bit. They are eager to please.
I cannot comment on other dishes aside from my mom's dish. She had the mussels with white wine, garlic and it was very tasty.
I definitely recommend for a pizza night.
Excellent pizza! Staff was very friendly. We genuinely felt welcomed and well-cared for.
We use to love the pizza when this place was called Faccia Luna, and fortunately the quality of the pizza is still strong. We also tried the fried oysters, which left something to be desired, and the chocolate mousse which was terrific.
Our server was friendly and extraordinarily responsive. All-in-all it was a great dinner.
Food was average. The serve was very nice.
