Ametsa brings the flavours of the Basque Country to the heart of Belgravia at COMO The Halkin. Ametsa’s approach is rooted in the traditions of Basque cuisine, pairing the techniques of Spain’s Basque Country with British seasonal ingredients to create a selection of light tapas-style dishes and heartier sharing plates. The result is a relaxed neighbourhood dining experience for everyone to enjoy, lunch or dinner. Ametsa’s Private Dining Room can be reserved separately for a gathering of up to 24 guests, or in conjunction with the restaurant for a larger function accommodating up to 68.

Reservamos a las 21:30 para cenar con la idea de pedir el menú degustación y enseguida nos dijeron que "a estas horas sólo se podía pedir a la carta", un feo detalle. La comida fue correcta, pero sin nada destacable. El sumiller fue muy atento y nos recomendó un buen vino. En resumen, empezamos mal con la negativa a ofrecernos el menú degustación a pesar de que nos dejaron reservar a través de OpenTable y cenamos correctamente, pero no volveremos por ese gesto. Hay más opciones en Londres en las que se preocupan más por el cliente: Streetxo, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, etc.

The food and service were excellent, although the prices are rather high and the menu is limited. A wider choice of items and the provision of cheaper options and "specials" would be useful.

A quiet Wednesday night (just two other occupied tables) led to a very subdued atmosphere, not helped by the focus on dim lighting. Food and service was excellent. I'd recommend, but maybe on a Friday or Saturday.
