We drove up from South Orange County to meet with longtime friends from Ventura County. The ambiance was delightful, the food and drinks were excellent, and we couldn’t gush enough about the delightful Mary, our server. It was a special occasion, and Anayas was part of the great memory made last night.

The menu was interesting and varied and the food prepared well. Seating when not in a booth was like sitting on a plank of wood. Server seemed overstretched. When she could be with us, she was very good, knowledgeable, and friendly, but there were large gaps between order and drink delivery, and also drink order and comeback for meal order.... Won't necessarily need a repeat.

I really want to like this place, food and drinks were pretty good quite expensive, but the service was god awful, party arrived at 6:30 and got promptly seated took food orders and good didn’t arrive till 7:45 after we finished it took way too long to get the check I had to actively get up and search for people to get our check, did not leave the restaurant till 8:40.

We had another great experience at Anayas Restaurant. My family and I celebrated my wife’s birthday. The food and drinks were great and our server was fantastic. Thank you, all.

Service was great. Wait staff were very attentive. Food was horrible. We went on Sunday at noon. To save waiting time because we had to be somewhere, we did the buffet. The food was dry and several items were missing. When the empty chafing dishes were brought to the staff's attention they were too busy to replenish the chafing dishes. $70+ for two people who found little edible or available, was a lot to ask for. But I still tipped generously because the serving staff were wonderful.

Food - shrimp was overcooked. Cochinita pibil was very good. Fajitas were wet. Burrito was excellent. Chile rellenos were very good. Beans were tasty, rice was dry, chips were okay. Service - was friendly and competent. Chairs - were incredibly uncomfortable. Noise - For the first hour, we were the only party in the room and we couldn't hear each other, the music was so loud. There were also huge TVs in each room--so unnecessary. Just let people dine and look at each other. Provide good food and ambience. You're not on the hook for entertainment (as if a Spanish-language reality show is entertaining). Value - $520 for 9 people, 8 of whom had a cocktail. That seems like a lot for fair-average Mexican food. Bottom line - there's so much great, authentic Mexican food in Southern California, we don't need to go back to Anaya's.
