Great meal for our first visit to New Orleans. We had the three types of oysters, potatoes soufflé, fish almandine and the baked Alaska. The waitstaff told us all kinds of history about the restaurant and family, and allowed us to tour afterwards.

Such a disappointment. We were hoping for an outstanding evening at New Orleans' 183-year-old restaurant icon. But for us, Antoine's food was shockingly mediocre and served by inattentive staff, despite the restaurant's history and its expensive menu. A basic cocktail -- gin and tonic -- arrived containing 7-Up or Sprite, not tonic water. Once we caught his attention and insisted that g&t should not taste so sweet, our waiter sent it back for a second try. The new drink indeed was made with tonic, but I'm not sure it was crafted with any gin. Two of us had the dish featuring pompano, rice and asparagus. The thin filet of pompano was overcooked, as were the sad few stalks of withered asparagus hidden under the fish. There was no seafood in the seafood gumbo, only broth (and not very good broth) with a spoonful of white rice. Lamb chops with "mint jus" were dry and tough. It was fun to share the Baked Alaska dessert--an ice cream and cake concoction covered in meringue and oven-browned. Though he didn't invent the recipe, the original Chef Antoine in 1867 began calling the dessert Baked Alaska, referring to the United States' purchase of Alaska from Russia that year. The nickname stuck. Still, a tasty spoonful or two of Baked Alaska doesn't make up for a poor dining experience at top dollar.

Antoine’s has changed since COVID. The service and ambiance is still top notch; but the food that was once top of the line is no longer in my option. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits was very bland with absolutely no flavor at all. The fish almondine could have been served in any of the restaurants in Nola. Nothing about our meal stood out as exceptional.

If you are in New Orleans you have to go here! The jazz brunch was phenomenal. The service was amazing. Murphy and Meagan were so attentive, we didn’t have to ask or wait for anything. They were both so friendly and personable too! Else asked for additional sides that weren’t on the menu and they accommodated us without question. The food was outstanding, and the fresh baked bread is to die for. Murphy’s tableside coffee service is a must have! I will be back again.

Don’t make a late reservation after 8pm. Food was served cold, but no exchanges can be made because the chef left. I’m sure it would have been a good experience if we were able to make an earlier reservation.

We had one person not able to join us and one of the hostesses (long blonde hair) was quite obnoxious and seemed put out. It was totally uncalled for, she was such a snob. The gumbo didn’t have much flavor. The bread loaf seemed like a poor boy loaf that you could pick up at any grocery store. We expected better. The wait staff, in contrast, was wonderful.

First time in New Orleans wanted to try all the classic restaurants and Antoine’s fit the criteria. We ate in the large red dining room and loved all the memorable on the walls. The service was excellent and recommendations were spot on. We tried the 2-2-2 oyster sampler which was amazing and allowed the table to try all three choices. The lamb chop and fish entree were are favorite. The bread pudding was excellent and enjoyed by the table. We walked through the bar and noticed the display cases of past Mardi Gras royalty, was very interesting and glad we discovered. FYI when we walked in the first room where hostess stand is quite a bit louder and not as intimate so glad our table was in other room.

During a family vacation in NOLA we made reservations for lunch. We wanted to experience the history and character of one of the “great” restaurants. We brought dress clothes specifically for the occasion. To say this was a disappointment is an understatement. We were seated in the ugliest part of the restaurant (a white dining room). The chairs were worn, light bulbs were out, and nothing about it felt “nice.” Our waiter was unfriendly and rude. The host was cold and snobbish. The service was terrible. Food was fine, but nothing special. Our waiter was too busy to show us around, so we wandered unaccompanied and discovered the much nicer parts of the restaurant. Sad to say, but this meal was our single regret of the vacation. Never again.

We had the most joyful, delicious and beautiful meal celebrating my dad’s 91st birthday at Antoine’s. All the food was impeccable, but the dish I think I will dream about forever was the chargrilled oysters. Amazing!!!! The only thing more wonderful than our meal was the kind and attentive work of the waiters who went above and beyond to make our experience special. Thank you!!!

My wife and I have been coming to New Orleans from California for the last 13 or 14 years, and I can honestly say this was by far the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. Where to begin? The first server apparently was brand new. When my youngest daughter asked for a Diet Coke, he said “hold on. I need to write this down” and then came back. He then proceeded to take at least 30 seconds to write the words “Diet Coke.“ There were six of us. The first four main courses came out simultaneously. The last two came out almost 10 minutes later, so the four of us waited patiently as our meals got cold but trying to be polite. No comment from our server. No apology. Nothing. Then my wife’s meal finally came. In fairness, the food was fine. But before my wife had even eaten half of her meal, our server brought out the bill for our table. Just brought us the bill while we were still in the middle of the meal. No offer of dessert. No offer of coffee. Absolutely nothing. We had ordered baked Alaska for two of us but the remainder of us still planned on ordering dessert except it was never offered. And the baked Alaska came at least 10 to 15 minutes after the check did. We did not even know if they were planning on bringing dessert or not. On my way to go talk to the manager, I went in the restroom. Funny enough, I saw one of our two servers and another server and they were both using multiple expletives to talk about how much they hated working there. Truly. You cannot make this stuff up. Then I went and spoke to the manager whose name was “Raymond.“ I was very clear that I did not want a dollar off of my meal and did not want any concession. I simply wanted him to know what our experience was. I gave them every opportunity to make it right, and they simply did not do so. Very very sad.

We went to the Sunday jazz brunch. Band played about three times total in the hour we were there. Would play directly at somebody’s table for a few minutes and then disappear for another twenty. Service was ok, but we were expecting much more from such a well-known (and expensive) establishment. Saw the servers fingers in the water pitcher which was a bummer. The food took a little while to come out but it was busy which was expected, but it was not good. The shrimp and grits was completely unseasoned, neither of us could finish it. The oysters were pretty good. The soufflé potatoes were legitimately just fried batter, and there were not nearly a full serving. Just overall pretty upset with the experience — we ended up leaving early (without finishing the food) and went to another restaurant in the quarter. Maybe dinner would be a different experience, but the jazz brunch was really upsetting.

I went for the Jazz brunch and the jazz trio spent the entire time in a different room or on a break. Our jazz brunch consisted of hearing only one song. The food and service was excellent. Chuck and Bryant were great. However we were disappointed that there was as no music.
