Great meal. And it’s kosher
The steak and drinks were delicious! But the appetizers were not great
Absolutely fantastic experience. Thoughtful, interesting menu, great service and awesome ambiance. The best meal we had in a very long time. We had watermelon gazpacho soup which was great for hot weather, arancini which was delicious, and short rib gnocchi which was very flavourful.
Cocktails were very cool as well.
Very noisy - service excellent
We had a beautiful and amazing experience, the most delicious food and great service in the US
Amazing experience. Great service. Food was very tasty
The food and ambiance was absolutely amazing! Would definitely recommend.
Great service, perfectly sized potions but lacking in creativity and overall heavy food. Desserts and drinks were the best. Service is on par with one star Michelin.
Delicious, interesting dishes. Excellent service. Amazing experience. Highly recommended!
Excellent service. Food and ambiance were A++
Service and ambiance were top-notch.
Food was amazing. One of my colleagues was not the most enthusiastic about their steak, he said it was a bit dry.
But overall was absolutely delicious and fun!
The Mixed drinks and desserts were especially exceptional!
Food was very tasty. Recommend the steaks, lamb riblets and rack and the fried potatoes. They had a very refreshing watermelon soup. Deserts were very nice as well especially the chocolate cake. Servers were very friendly and attentive but a bit overwhelmed.....service with a smile. We ordered mixed drinks but had to remind them twice to bring it, it finally arrived late with the entrees. Very busy for a Monday night.
Loved the open kitchen behind a window and a pleasant surprise to see a young female chef running the kitchen in what's typically a mans works. Whoever you are the food was great and more power to you....go girl! If you have a chance when things calm down each night I think you should come out of the kitchen and walk the floor and introduce yourself to the patrons. Am I right that you are a rarity?
Tables were somewhat close together and the noise level was very loud indeed! Better place to come with a celebration crowd than a romantic evening where you just want to talk.
Expect to spend about $150pp for dinner without wine.
Would you recommend Barnea Bistro to a friend? Yes, but...
I've been here before and experience was great so expectations were set high. Several things went wrong which is why I'm even bothering to leave this review.
1. Appetizers and drinks were excellent.
2. Dessert itself was very good.
1. Ordered the Poulet Sauté and have never had such a dry piece of white meat chicken before. Almost inedible and all for $45.
2. We ordered after dinner cappuccinos which were undrinkable. We were going to a show so decided against having them remade but honestly they were so bad that it couldn't have just been a one time mistake.
3. We were there for our anniversary and had requested a quieter table. They put us next to a family with two very active kids making tons of noise. Really not enjoyable.
In all, the menu is interesting, the service was good but for what they charge the things that went wrong really are not acceptable.
Not sure when or if we'll be coming back.
Great Food and drinks especially the purple violet drink
Delicious, classy, awesome experience. Very accommodating for dietary needs
Honestly the best kosher dining experience I’ve had in a long long time.
Is the food inventive? No. But it’s classic, consistent, and expertly made. every bite was great, and service was impeccable. The place is incredibly well designed...something kosher restaurants rly have been lacking.
Only downside is that only mevushal wine can be drunk (even if you bring your own) but that’s something to take up with the masgiach.
Pricey, so save for special occasions and business meals.
Coq au vin
Strawberry dessert (while its still strawberry season)
Definitely recommend to friends
From the amazing drinks and bethel, to the gracious welcome and kadie, from the incredible service and Anthony, to the awesome coute de bouf, veal and josh, it’s been a great evening!
Fabulous restaurant!! Great food, great service, wonderful ambience!
One of (if not "the") best kosher restaurants in NYC. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Cocktails were creative and delicious. Service was professional, gracious and well-timed. Will definitely be back!
Food was just ok not much flavor. Not impressed.
Great food, great service. Strongly recommend!!!!!!
The first part of the experience began with their website. I really enjoyed reading the story of Josh's dream, as well as learning about the staff and their backgrounds. Once we arrived, I loved the branding, from the custom plates to the uniforms. The ambiance is truly remarkable, and the location is excellent. The service is attentive and truly top notch. Be careful opening the front door, as it takes more than normal effort. I would have liked to see a more moderately priced Cabernet on the menu than the $27 a glass Dalton Reserve. A house cab should be closer to $15 a glass in my experience. My wife loved her dry aged steak and the cauliflower appetizer. It was an enjoyable experience.
The staff was outstanding in every way, but the food was pedestrian and overpriced.
The place is going down the drain
Food is possibly the best kosher meat in NYC. However, despite spending $230 for 2 people with no drinks...I left hungry.
Food was excellent ambiance nice. service i found a bit uneven
Every detail, excellently managed. Friendly, sophisticated staff all around. New favorite dining spot.
Very tactful and pleasant service in addition to outstanding food. I really enjoyed the lamb riblets and short rib gnocchi - very fresh and flavorful, and attractive presentation. The carrot cake was also superb - not too sweet or soggy at all. Do yourself a favor and check the prices on their site first, as it is a very expensive restaurant. I enjoyed it, but one should prepare for the cost.
We went for our anniversary, but was not our first time. We ordered appetizers and mains to share, and were not disappointed. Food was amazing as remembered, service was attentive and kind, bringing our food out at just the right times. They gave us champagne in honor of the occasion and wrote on our dessert.
Fabulous experience! Food was amazing- the delmonico and cauliflower are a must try. Great service and ambience. They gave us champagne on the house for our anniversary!
Can’t wait to go back!
Lovely alfresco birthday dinner. Our first time here, but definitely not the last!
From Paris to Israel to NYC, gorgeous Barnea leaves every restaurant experience I have ever had in the dust. From the sublime cocktails to the original culinary feats, we were delighted. The service was excellent and the portions were generous. We cannot wait to come back.
Loved cauliflower appetizer and large portion as well, and the fish tacos were delicious. Sparkling water gratis a very nice touch! Lamb chops and veal chop more medium than the medium rare ordered, but very good. the sides should have been served hotter but tasted excellent.
Already looking forward to my next time back and will order many more appetizers.
I was were here with two business associates I am a regular
Fantastic! Fine food - happily surprised to discover such an excellent new Kosher restaurant on the NY dining scene!
Great restaurant and portions. Also fantastic service. They fill it up and it gets pretty loud though.
Fabulous experience, sat outside , waitress was attentive and oh so nice. Food was excellent
I tried this restaurant at lunch for something new in the neighborhood. The service was poor. Friendly servers but only two persons for the whole room. The food was average but nothing that was memorable. I am a foodie and so was disappointed. For the prices charged it’s not good value. I won’t bother going again.
Lunch is great there- quiet and great food
