The dinner was excellent. I had the tagliatelle and my partner had the lobster ravioli. They were both awesome - though I thought mine was better :) Our waiter was perfect, very attentive but no over bearing and great with the wine selection. We had a cocktail before dinner, wine with dinner and an after dinner drink. Also both had appetizer, entrée and desert - all excellent. The price was around $275 which I thought was pretty incredible given the quality and service. Highly recommended

my wife and I ate there, after an absence of several months, and were unhappy we hadn't been back sooner. The shared pasta was great, as was the tricolor salad and grilled octopus. The rhubarb/plum tart was fantastic. One glass of wine, a shared entree, salad and appetizer was $81, and that's not expensive at all for dining in a fine restaurant.

A destination with sophisticated décor and comfortable seating. Since Chef Loris Navone began at Bibiana, I have been there at least a dozen times. The food is lovely, very close to the preparations one would expect in Italy, but often bumped up with a new interpretation of an old standard. I have several go-to appetizers: the Tartara di Tonno, the Carpaccio of beef, and the farro salad. The Crudo of house cured and smoked swordfish is my favorite. Each pasta preparation should be tried as I have been fortunate to do. The specifics of the sauces change with the season or with market availability. I'm partial to the Cavatelli, most recently including lemon ricotta, stinging nettles pesto, and mushrooms. On the current menu I have found the Anatra to be the most tender duck I have ever eaten. It is summer-y, accompanied by pickled green strawberries, chanterelles and pine nuts. When in the mood for red meat, I am delighted with the Cervo, tender farmed venison with rhubarb, blueberry and chocolate in the dish, Exquisite. If you are interested in the desserts, I can't be much help. After a meal of the foregoing, there is no room for my dessert course. We have shared a buttermilk panna cotta with various summer fruits, so I know the quality and creativity are consistent through the menu...

Bibiana is my go-to spot in DC. I travel from NJ every week to DC and more often then not when I need to host a client/business dinner my choice is Bibiana. Helpful, friendly and attentive are all works I'll use to describe the staff. Food is upscale Italian with interesting twists. Wine list is exceptional. Not to be missed.

The food is great. Asparagus risotto with black truffles was just perfect. This is an excellent choice for either a casual dinner or special date or family gathering. We had family visiting staying at the Grand Hyatt, and it was a wonderful choice, easy for them to reach, and better than some of the more hyped places in City Center. The maitre’d was
very lovely to us, including our 2 preteens.

The food and service were excellent. Bibiana has a similar problem that many lovely restaurants have - they don't consider the size of the plates as compared to the table. For our group of four, we ordered three small appetizers to share. The food was beautifully presented in very large serving dishes that were much bigger than the actual food they contained. With our stemware, water goblet and small plates to eat off, we couldn't fit it on the small table. We were constantly shuffling items around, knocking things over, and begging the wait staff to carry plates away.

Will this prevent me from going back? Absolutely not, otherwise, there are not many restaurants that I would go back to. I just wish they would stop doing this.

The (relatively) new chef, Loris, has turned this place around. The plates he puts together blend flavors perfectly. It's not often I can say it's so good I can't think of how to make it better! Imagine raving over meatballs (first time for me) with his polpette della nonna because the flavors are so balanced, or the tuna tartare. And the venison crusted with pepper and CHOCOLATE(!). Delicious.
And I do hope the apple pie (really a tart) I had during restaurant week becomes a staple on the regular menu.
It's generally quieter in the separate room off to the left when you come in.

Caprese salad was very bland and tasteless. There was hardly any basil, the balsamic mixture tasted watered down and tasteless. They offered for me to have something else, but I declined.

Summary: nice place, but not a great value.

We went during restaurant week, so we ordered off of that menu (three-course meal for $35). I ordered the octopus salad, the ravioli de carne, and the torta di mele. My friend ordered the burrata salad, the tagliatelle alla bolognese, and the gelati e sorbetti. All of these were good, though I don't think any of them blew us away.

Our server—well, server/s/—were polite and friendly, but it was hard to keep track of them all. The person who took our order was different from the person who refilled my drink, who was different from the person who brought out our food (and in fact, I think different people may have brought out the different courses of our meal). I realize this is sometimes how it goes in a restaurant, but it felt disjointed, and it made me feel like our table was just part of an assembly line—not the personal focus of a dedicated server.

The noise level was good—a mellow hum. Seating was well spaced. Each table had a real candle too!

The biggest drawback would probably be value. I realize we went during restaurant week, and I realize it's DC, but the portions were tiny. I think I received three or four ravioli? After three courses, I wasn't even close to being full. My friend fared better, but she had come down with a cold, so her appetite was sapped in the first place.

It's an expensive restaurant (for a millennial), and if you want to have your hunger sated, you will pay for it dearly. I'd probably go back, but only for a really special occasion.

Some friends and I came for restaurant week dinner.The salmon was made perfectly, not over cooked. But the service was phenomenal! I will definitely be back.

I visited this restaurant during Restaurant Week. Upon arriving at the restaurant I was greeted and seated. The food came out promptly; wasn't too hot nor too cold. my entree the swordfish was wonderful. The server suggested I get it cooked medium and he was right. It was cooked beautifully. Would definitely go back.

Four friends had a wonderful lunch on Friday. Warmly greeted. Waiter was spot on. Business lunch of 3 courses for $27 was a real deal - servings were generous and there were nice selections. 2 of the group had that. Another had pasta and carpaccio. I had the salmon which was cooked just the way I asked for it. They were gracious about giving us separate checks. This restaurant is a keeper!! And none of my usual nits - our plates were cleared when we were all finished and not before. Two had dorade and there were two servers boning them at the same time so no one had to wait nor did it get cold. There is absolutely nothing not to love about Bibiana!

Our server, Jared was particularly friendly and knowledgeable. Alex, a manager was very welcoming. The food exceeded our already high expectations and the wine list was extensive.

I took a friend to lunch; she had been through a lot and we just wanted to relax with a calm, good meal. Our expectations were exceeded. She had a "summer soup" that was a very unusual and delightful shade of green; my Caesar salad was perfect. We both had the fish dish as our main, which was cooked perfectly and filleted at our table. We had caramel and hazelnut gelato for dessert. We both took food home and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It was just what we needed and the service was outstanding. A little hard to find -- it's in the back of the building that's addressed 1200 New York Avenue (old Greyhound station) but worth searching out. I will go back!

This restaurant has been around a long time and there is a reason it competes well with all of the new flashy restaurants in the neighborhood - reliable, quiet, elegant and nicely done food. Its become my go-to for business lunches because of these things - I can hear my colleagues and know I will have a pleasant experience. Service is always solid. Food is also - and generous portions.

Service was excellent. Very attentive, careful not imposing. We were very satisfied with the food quality except the shaved black truffle. It was tasteless and not having the known aroma that the truffle usually carries. For $15 extra it was a waste of money.

My colleague was late to the restaurant almost 30 minutes. The wait staff was incredibly cordial... absolutely no pressure or any display of displeasure.

When my friend finally showed up the waiter hung around just out of sight but seemed to be at hand as soon as I turned looking for him.

The appetizer (smoked swordfish) was exquisite - very flavorful and simply delicious.

The entre I had was excellent. I had ordered steak prepared a certain way (that I like). The manager came to the table to inform and explain that the way they cook would not crisp the steak to the level I asked. He gave me a choice of another dish (I stayed with the steak which was done to perfection).

In short, the staff was ubiquitous but non-intrusive. The food was great, the noise level low enough for me to easily hear my friend across the table.

In short.. I would go there again in a heart beat.

Enjoyed another wonderful meal at Bibiana! They had some new summer menu items including a watermelon gazpacho and shrimp carpaccio that were refreshing and flavorful! Also enjoyed a turbot with a fried zucchini flower and grapefruit gelee. I highly recommend Bibiana for its creative yet dependable cuisine!

The best Italian dining DC has to offer! The staff is sensational, friendly, articulate and attentive. I called to ask about parking and they quickly addressed my concerns. Two splendid martinis started the evening. A crisp, well dressed and presented Tri-Color salad was shared with my date. We also shared delicious pasta entrée. For our final selections, I had swordfish encrusted in pistachios she had the branzini. Taste, exquisite! We shared a dessert and she had the espresso and I a cup of black coffee. We topped the evening off with a glass of cognac. Nothing could be finer DC dining on a Saturday night!

We had an outstanding meal and fantastic service at this restaurant. The food was inventive and tasty and the presentation was lovely. We started with the Gambaretti and beet salad appetizers, then had the veal, Gruyere stuffed gnocchi, and tagliatelle Bolognese entrees. All were amazing. We shared three desserts recommended to us and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and courteous. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Food preparation and Service was excellent!
Wine was overpriced but good selections.
Risotto was fabulous and the Bronzino was very tasty and the Octopus was the best of all!
