In 2025, we proudly received the prestigious Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Originally opened as Phil’s in the 1920s by a notorious Chicago bootlegger, the Lodge has been beautifully reimagined, blending old-world elegance & modern design. Food was good; service a little slow which is unusual for this restaurant. Seemed very noisy last night.

We had a wonderful and delicious meal. It was Sunday evening and not to crowded. Our server Nettie was amazing and Cassidy made awesome drinks, too! Thank you.

Bootlegger's charges for a formal dining experience. Having dined at Bootleggers in the past, my wife and I had selectively chosen Bootleggers to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary. We were disgusted that guests were entering the dining area in bathing suits. Although there were multiple opportunities for staff to correct the issue, they did not turn away the beach guests. Never will we patronize them in the summer again.

Our family had a really nice experience at Bootleggers. We decided to check it out because of the name and had a great dinner. Walleye fish fry, salmon and a ribeye were all really nice, wine by the glass very reasonable with generous pours that you get in a Wisconsin supper club. We will definitely return the next time we’re up north.

Prices are just starting to go too high for what you get for your money. The food is good. The service is good. The ambience is great, but the price is too high,,especially not including soup or salad in the entrée price.It’s just way too high for the Tomahawk area and people visiting.

I normally will not leave a review if I have nothing nice to say, but our visit was a huge disappointment. We travelled 3 hours. My husband and I wanted to treat our parents to dinner at Bootleggers . We made reservations 17 days in advance. We were sat next to a loud bar area. We couldn't carry a conversation together at our dinner table because it was so loud. Our server rushed to take our order and then after delivering the meal never came back to check on us. We had to ask the hostess for help. No one to give us water, (hot day). The only meal we ordered that was properly prepared were the scallops, the ribeye steaks and fish were overcooked and dry. This was to be a celebration meal for our parent's anniversary, the talk on the way home was complete regret. What a shame.

We only go there every other month as our cabin is 4 hours away. This time we invited 2 other couples and it was fabulous. We had our favorite waitress Zoie who was there on her last night before going off to law school school. Food was great and Mark our host checked with us frequently regarding food and service. He even extended tours to the upstairs rooms. Only ding I have is with the bar. Seemed like the bartenders were all newbies at least ours as one of are party ordered an Irish Coffee and he said they did not have coffee??? Great atmosphere and great lake views. We will definitely go back.

I go here often and the food is always good, service is helmet but tonight I don’t know if the A/C wasn’t working but it was uncomfortable in the restaurant.
