BRIO Tuscan Grille - Fairfax - Fair Oaks Mall
Lunch: Sunday: 11:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Saturday:11:00am - 4:00pm; Dinner: Sunday - Thursday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm, Friday & Saturday: 4:00pm - 11:00pm
We’ve eaten here before and enjoyed it (atmosphere is very nice, especially outside). But tonight was an off night, which is bad for a Friday. They ran out of mussels which is fine except it took 20 minutes after ordering to find out. Then we ordered and 20 minutes later learned that they were out of risotto for the special halibut dish.
They made good and offered a free entree, even something not quite on the menu. So we ordered halibut with the lemon caper. Halibut was way over cooked, which is a shame because it was a short term special offering (you don’t want to screw up your Special). The side dish of Brussels sprouts was 1/2 burnt separated leaves; as if they had a large pot of them and this was the bottom scraping. The sprouts served with my short ribs (excellent) were perfect. Fingerling potatoes, excellent. Pesce Picatta, very good but under seasoned.
Again, management and server made up for the kitchen bombs so all in all it was a pleasant family dinner.
Food is always good. I had the Pesce piccata and my husband had the cabonara. both were good. My child ordered something she didn't like and they very nicely offered to get her a new meal. They were very thoughtful.
Great service, appetizers, and main courses. Herb chicken was fantastic. Brussels sprouts not so much. Will definitely return.
Phenomenal experience, food, and atmosphere. Alex, the general manager is exceptional, professional and very customer focused. We love this place!
Our second time back for dinner. Went on Monday night after Father’s Day, so fortunately, it was not crowded. Despite having a waitress trainee, she was great and so enthusiastic. The bread, crackers, steak, crabcakes, and vegetables were definitely worth the trip. Maybe a tad too much mayonnaise in crabcakes. But would order again. Great red wine by the glass, but a bit pricey. Would definitely return again.
Went there to celebrate Father’s Day with family. The food was great. Service was awesome! Overall a great place. Been there many times and will go there again.
We went to Brio for Father's Day. we had an early reservation so we were seated right away. When we were leaving it was getting pretty crowded.
We went to celebrate my daughter's graduation along with 9 relatives. The service, attention and enthusiasm from the server was outstanding. We really had a great time.
When Tuesday Wine discounts are offered, they should be more known to all staff!
The food was good. The setting is delightful. Highly recommend.
We keep going back here expecting a better experience, and every time we find it's just so-so. I really want to like this restaurant, but it's hit or miss. On this particular visit, we were initially seated at a table in the middle of the room. The noise level was so loud, I asked to be moved to a booth where at least I wasn't totally surrounded by conversations that ricocheted off the walls and ceiling. One thing they get right is the bread, hot and crusty sourdough(?) and some spicy crackers. I ordered a kale caesar salad which was pretty good, and a pork chop with a side of fettuccine. The pork chop was fine, but the fettuccine was about as bland as it gets. The sauce was nothing more than thickened milk with absolutely no flavor, no cheese. My husband's shrimp and lobster fettuccine was just okay. Our server, Daniel, hit all the marks doing an excellent job. He gave us time to look at the menu, and continually checked in with us. He kept our iced tea glasses filled and quickly brought us boxes and our check when we were finished.
We went for my son's college graduation- we forgot to make reservations (for 13) until a week before but we were able to make last minute reservations. Very accommodating. the food was very good. The servers were nice but no-one ever bused the table and we had piles of dishes - we started trying to hand them off so that we had space. had to ask for bread numerous times. we ordered grilled veggies with one couple's meal but it came out after they were through ( they took it off the bill at our request) we asked for bacon with a salad and it took quite a while to come out. But portions were fine and food was very good! We were very grateful for a place to host our friends as we are from San Diego, and taking them all home was not an option! It was loud, so Grandad took hearing aids out. but overall, we would do it again!!!
Awesome service and hospitality ! My graduation brunch was truly amazing because of your generosity and excellent service. The food was amazing as well as the mimosas. My guest enjoyed themselves as well. I will definitely visit in the future. Again, thank you so very much!
Friends visiting from out of town
Had a graduation celebration for 11. Wait staff was prompt and courteous. The food was delicious!! Everyone enjoyed their meal and the dinner party was a success!
This restaurant is located in the Fair Oaks Mall. The staff was friendly but not particularly attentive. The food was very good - we both had soup (lobster bisque). He had the chicken club and I had the mezzo pesto pasta. Both were very good. Pinot Grigio for me, house Chardonnay for him. Good lunch meal for $67 including tip.
We celebrated a graduation and the service and food was just outstanding! We tried three different seasonal specials, and enjoyed tasting each others' choices. Service was good from start to finish.
Despite the restaurant being busy on Mother's Day - service and food was great!
Once we were seated, everything was great. But even after setting a reservation a week in advance, we had a 45 minute wait to be seated.
On Mother's Day we had booked a table for 2 at 7pm on Open Table. Tuscan Brio called us to confirm which we did. We were a little late getting there but were there at least 5-10 minutes after 7pm. The place was packed and there were a large number of people just standing there in line. We were told that the kitchen was on overload and that it might take a while to get a table. It was suggested that we go to the bar and eat there. I said we'd be happy to wait at the bar but we did make a reservation and we would like to sit at a table whenever there was an opening. We ended up sitting at the bar and ordered some drinks. 30 minutes later we noticed that the number of people had dwindled but we had not been notified that a table had opened up. I walked over to the wait station and said that we had reservations for 7pm and that the hostesses said they would seat us at their earliest convenience. Speaking out loud to whoever at the wait stand was listening, I noted that a number of people who had no reservations and just showed up seemed to have been seated ahead of us. The staff then immediately found an open table for us and had us seated immediately. After that, things went just perfectly. Our dinner was delicious and the wine selections were wonderful!
My Mother’s Day experience was very dissappointing! We had reservations for 6:00 on the 13th! We have never had a problem before, however this was not good! The server did all she could with what she had to deal with, unfortunately made her performance below par! We were late getting our appetizers, they served salads before with one not real fresh and she had to wait on it! We had to ask the waitress what was happening! She said she would check on it
No explanation or apology. My filet was over cooked and the cheese garnish also over-done, it was very dry. My one son ordered the Medallions, which was over-cooked as well. My other son ordered the Chicken Melanese, He said it was way over-cooked,
And somewhat tough! Which shouldn’t be!
My husband’s vegetables were cold and my Grand-daughter also said her Medallions were very over-cooked as well! I can understand it being quite loud because of
The occasion and being very crowded! This was an expensive meal for 6 people, the total
Was way over-priced for the poor quality of the food! We should have complained at the time but I just wanted to get out of there and not cause a scene! That is my explanation and I feel that I needed to say something to you! As I said, quite disappointed! Brio was my favorite restaurant and I am upset about
Sincerely, Suzie Steward

Went for Mother's Day. They seemed overwhelmed even though our reservation was early (5:30). It took 45 min to get our food. No bread while we were waiting and we kept asking. Waitress said several times "I have no idea what they are doing back there, I will check". Manager even came table to table to apologize for the wait. Ordered bruschetta for appetizer.
The bread portion was not toasted. My main dish came and had no taste. Supposed to have pesto sauce -- no pesto flavor at all. A man sitting near me had the same dish and the same complaint. We both complained, I was told the pesto is "very mild' and mixed with some kind of a brown sauce. The brown sauce was evident but tasteless. No pesto evident at all. Requested they remove the dish from our bill, which they did and they comped us free dessert. The white chocolate raspberry 'gelato' was fine but tasted like ice cream, not gelato. Was incredibly noisy, though not their fault -- it's the acoustics of the place. We went to a Brio in another state and loved it. Don't think we will be back to this one.
We went for Mother’s Day. Was louder than usual because it was full. I’m the mom and chose it instead of some other popular steak houses my husband suggested. My daughter and I love the beef carpaccio appetizer. I like the braised short rib and we all love the chocolate cake dessert which isn’t a cake at all. Wonderful!!
We were a group on 9 for mother’s day . Food was very good as well as the service. Little noisy.
Our experience was absolutely atrocious. I made a reservation for 2:00PM and my family did not even get seated until 2:45PM. What was the point of making the reservation then?? Meanwhile, I was watching people who were most definitely not there as long as us were getting seated before us!! How does that make any sense?? My whole family was getting agitated at how poorly everything was running. I get that the hostesses were trying their best, but what kind of system seats ad-hoc groups before reservations??
Meanwhile, when we finally got seated, it took another 40 minutes to get our food. Utterly ridiculous.
I wanted to increase the rating for the food, because I at least liked my food (maybe because by now I was starving). Pesto Pasta was good and plentiful. My brother thought his Pasta Brio was average at best, which I agree with. The pasta tasted undercooked. And my parents' lobster and shrimp ravioli was too salty.
All told, it was a total mistake to come here for Mother's Day. Completely terrible experience. I try to maintain a clear head for bad dining experiences, but I don't plan on coming back to this particular location. Do not recommend at all.
I made a reservation for Mother's Day and I was surprised that we were seated on time not like last year though we had a reservation, we had to wait for a long time.
Food was great and great company.
Brio was great as always: food, service and atmosphere - but there was a mix-up with our Open Table reservation that was not detected and credited upon arrival even tough we confirmed it over the phone - it was subsequently rectified after Open Table inquiry.
Food was delicious! Salmon Fresca and Grilled half chicken. Only issue was that we requested a hightop table outside and when we arrived, we were told that those tables cannot be reserved so ended up on a sofa (uncomfortably- like eating on the sofa at home). I realize that the sofas are available and offer some ambiance, and in my opinion, are great for meeting friends and having drinks, but not for dinner. It would have been nice to have a "heads-up" on the website re outdoor seating restrictions and we may have changed our visit time to likely ensure our outdoor preference.
Brio is our go-to place when we want to go out for a nice local dinner and that won't change.
Open Table really worked for us. Brio also called to confirm. Seated us promptly. Allowed more than enough time to complete our tasty meals and celebration. Pleasant, polite servers!
Decor is nice , food is very good, service is great
Great food, attentive service, and [especially appealing for us!]willing to split plates to manage portion size. The bar team of Jamil and Amber is awesome, friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Jamil's chocolate martinis are the best, bar none!
Very consistent and very nice menu. Server was extremely nice.
Always a great place to be at, they treat you like family
The wait staff was very good -- they were quick to seat us and to take our orders. A couple of the people in my party ordered soup and found it very salty. One person ordered the salmon and the sweet potato was charred. I ordered from the gluten-free menu and requested the penne primavera -- it came with lots of onions (which were not advertised on the menu), and the widely spaced prongs on the forks made it difficult to pick up the pasta on the fork. The food was a little on the pricey side for what it was, but the ambiance was very nice so I guess that can be overlooked. Overall, I would say it was OK, but I probably will not be returning.
I found the hostess to be very snobby and unpleasant.
We love dining at this Brio - staff is friendly and competent -
We dine here every 6-8 weeks and always enjoy it. Recommend the spinach/artichoke dip or the calamari. Steak salad is great too. Tried the Mediterranean shrimp for a change - very good.
Excellent food variety, good service and outside seating made for a good experience
This was my first time at the Fairfax location. I went here because it was convenient, near the hotel, as I’m not a fan of the Richmond, VA location. This was a huge difference from my experiences in Richmond. Outstanding service - knowledgeable, attentive, funny. The salmon was excellent and the Pinot Grigio paired well. Large portions so you could probably split a meal. Very reasonable prices.
