For parties of 8 or more, we offer the Canon Fixe: a multi-course, family-style experience which features dishes from our seasonal menu, and is the best way to dine at Canon with a larger group. This menu is priced at $72 per person (not including gratuity, tax, dessert or beverages) and the entire party must be included. Where possible, we will accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies, and of course, you are welcome to add on extra dishes from our dinner menu.

Delicious food, not too stuffy for a Michelin-star restaurant, and very reasonable price for the experience (~$200 to feed 2 with 2 appetizers and 4 small plates, plus a bottle of wine, and tip). Parking is a bit of a pain, so plan for that. We are vegetarians (non-vegans) and shared the following dishes: tots, bread, radicchio wedge salad, sunchokes, summer squash, and pole beans. The sunchokes, squash, and pole beans were particularly great; the tots and radicchio salad we were slightly less thrilled about (but still ate up!). Sommelier service was excellent. Didn't sample the cocktails or dessert, but might return to try! Playlist on the patio was impeccable for Gen X indie music fans.

The food is always great here but last night we waited 20 minutes for cocktails and two dishes that arrived were cooler than room temp, one of which we sent back given it's high price point. The food is fine dining but the service isn't there any longer which is a shame.

Love, love, love Canon. The menu is always a surprise and the food is delicious. Every plate is so perfectly balanced and complex. Great service as well, and one of my favorite dining rooms in Sacramento.

From being greeted with a friendly smile to enjoying a refreshing Chai Again cocktail and topping it off with a delicious dinner prepared by Chef Sean, Bucky and the Canon team made for a perfect evening. I’d highly recommend Canon!

Dinner was a bit pricey but not outrageously so. There were no vegetarian options among the main dishes but there were numerous vegetarian plates among their shared plates section. We got four different shared plates all very tasty, nicely presented and with good portions. Two in our party had main course dishes--again very well cooked, not skimpy portions. The waiter was engaging and pleasant. Cocktails too were a bit pricey but, I have to admit, pretty darn good. So why only three stars and not four or maybe even five? Slow. Very very slow. Maybe we were there on an evening when some of their staff didn't show up, I don't know. The folks at the table next to us said they waited twenty five minutes for their desserts to arrive. One of the other parties got tired of waiting for their check to arrive and finally sought out the waiter for the bill. Waiting for the main dishes to arrive, we were at the point of cancelling our order and going to Zelda's for pizza. We tracked down the waiter who said that the order would be "right out" (ten more minutes). Again, maybe it was an off night staffing wise. Everything doesn't have to be immediate, right now and on demand. But this was, well, slow.

We started with drinks which included champagne served in a white wine glass. Champagne was old as you could tell it was not very bubbly. We had the nectarine salad for a starter and the trout and steak as well as the squash for the plate. The nectarine and squash entrées were very good. The steak was great, the fish was not good at all. Heavy handed. We had the Tennessee pudding for dessert which was very good. Our waitress was terrific and the ambience was fantastic. We just wish the meal was better. Overall it was a nice night out. Just think they could do better for the guests at this price point.

High energy, attentive staff, excellent food and wine selections, served sequentially, giving us time to savor the small plates over an hour and a half, 1/2 price bottle of chef chosen wine a great accompaniment. A great spot for a farm to table dining experience.

Came here for a date night. The inside was loud but we sat outside on the patio and the noise level was perfect. We had the tater tots and focaccia bread appetizers. Tots were delicious but the focaccia was outstanding. I could have eaten 2 loaves. We shared the nectarine salad, summer squash, drumsticks and albacore. Everything was good but the nectarine salad and summer squash were superb. Service was great. Definitely coming back.

The wife and I had been meaning to go here for some time, so we went for a special date night. In the end, this was just ok for us. Food-wise, we agreed that nothing we ordered stood out as being better than what we have had at other decent restaurants around the area. Most of the small plates we ordered were some savory preparation of (insert thing) served in a smear of white sauce (yogurt, blue cheese, etc.). It was sort-of the same trick throughout. And since you keep the same plate throughout the meal, it all blended together and started tasting the same. Meanwhile, the service was fine; efficient but not impressively so…friendly sometimes. And almost everyone was wearing street clothes. I understand unpretentiousness, but this came off as just not being focused or polished. One further downside is the infernal parking situation. Canon is on a street with largely 1 hour parking, and given the activity in the neighborhood, diners should be prepared to circle and jockey with other drivers for blocks around to find an appropriate spot. On the upside, we thought the drinks were largely excellent. Moreover, the total bill was reasonable for a “nice” restaurant and we felt like it generally added up fine.

This was my 2nd visit to Canon but the first time did dinner. The menu was creative and included the bounty of the season. The service was attentive but not overly so. The food was delicious. I’m sure I’ll be back!

My wife and I celebrated our 20-year anniversary and decided to try Canon. It was a recommendation from a friend. The atmosphere, the service, and the food were excellent. We will be coming back to try some of the other dishes.

Once again I am surprised by the slovenly appearance of servers. dirty ill-fitting jeans, grungy running shoes...although better than Willow where our server gave us the full Ackroyd/Belushi plumber look. Sat on the patio and it was uncomfortable. There are no good tables for two. The Albacore tataki, lightly seared was gray. Corn croquettes were on the sweet side but good. Lamb Pave as explained; smoke lamb, shred, compact shredded lamb into a brick, crisp and serve. The sides were nice but the meat could have been any meat. Lacked real lamb flavor. Service was lacklustre at best. How this place rates even a Michelin mention is beyond me.

The menu choices, quality of presentation and taste of our food, and service were fabulous. The only negative was that the sun shinning through was so bright on our indoor table that I had to wear sunglasses and squint to see my wife across the two top table. They did all they could with shades but it was still a distraction from enjoying the end of our meal. But, regardless, we enjoyed and will certainly return again.

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic dinner for her birthday last night! This was our first-time visiting Canon, and the atmosphere, food, and service were exceptional. Our server provided wonderful suggestions for the small plates, and main entree (all lived up to her recommendations). We ended our meal with the Tennesse Pudding, and the Goat Cheese & Mulberry ice cream (both were incredible)! We'll be back!

An amazing summer menu when we dined. The menu was a great length--not overwhelming. The shareable plates were great and we were not overfull, just perfectly satisfied. We ordered pickles, oysters, heirloom tomatoes, nectarine salad, trout, peach Tennessee pudding, and chocolate almond pave. Everything was amazing. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I understand the Michelin star rating--will for sure be back!
