Founded by restaurateur Marno McDermott and former Green Bay Packers player Max McGee in 1975, Chi-Chi's quickly became a beloved staple in the American dining scene. Initially opened in Richfield, Minnesota, the restaurant stood out with its vibrant Mexican "eatery" concept, enticing guests with family dining in a Mexican garden atmosphere and offering superb food and pitchers of margaritas. By the late 1970s, McDermott and McGee had successfully expanded Chi-Chi's into major cities like Cincinnati and Indianapolis, with future plans for further growth in cities such as Detroit and Tampa.

This is the Chi-Chi’s of old!! The food is fabulous, just like it used to be years ago. No one makes cheese enchiladas like Chi-Chi’s and the chips and salsa are delicious! I can’t say enough good things about this place!!

Our Food was good but we had to get the hostess to send a server to our table. Only a few tables had customers. We've dined here several times with no problems.

It's fine. It's more nostalgic than reviewing your high school yearbook.. Anyone of a certain age has memories of this place from an earlier time in their life. Margaritas! The food tastes like what "Mexican" food tasted in the late years of the 1900's (at least here in Minnesota.). Now, there are excellent REAL Mexican restaurants that have much better food.

I was impressed and so glad I now have a go to spot for the best food. Everything was absolutely perfect. The cherry lemonade was awesome and the warm chips and I had the short rib chimichunga with Spanish rice and my wife had the shrimp fajitas with sweet rice. To finish it off fried ice cream. Wonderful and will be back soon.

Fun nostalgia to eat at Chi-Chi’s, a favorite from the old days, but there is much better Mexican food available in the twin cities

We got a table outside and it was amazing. The server was terrific. I food was fantastic. I cannot wait to go back.

Was very busy. We had reservations, so no wait. The dining room was too noisy and the food only average. We liked Rojas better.

All four in our party were very happy with their meal selections. Our waitress was on the ball and honored all requests. Had a great experience!

The entrees were pricey and not particularly filling. They tasted fine. The guacamole was also pricey but you get a lot, it was yummy, and the toppings were great. If I go again, I'll probably stick with apps, maybe the guac and a quesadilla.
