   We went earlier than our booking time as it was a shocking day around Maleny, rain and heavy cloud. We were welcomed and shown a table. I was seated in front of an open main door and felt the chill. My wife liked her fettuccine prawn but my beef burger was very basic, meat and cheese and no salad, not even a lettuce leaf. The restaurant was very noisy , from a large group beside us .

   Lovely Venue. Perhaps on a less busy day the service would be better - but staff were friendly - just too many customers to staff ratio I think? So very long waits. Cold food after waiting for cutlery etc. But super friendly staff and lovely venue.

   Great place for busy Mother’s Day. Food outstanding, location excellent. Staff were really friendly- there just weren’t enough of them, so service was very slow. 2.5hrs for lunch with kids, bit long. Also no table service for orders. Wines awesome!

   Hi, Sadly the service let things down here, staff were very much overrun, out of their depth and inexperienced. Two options for a main dish on a set menu was poor and the Pork was very fatty. The ‘dance’ club music wasn’t exactly a calming Mother’s Day ambience and so therefore I felt overall this was overpriced. Not too sure whether I’d be back, I do think the flagship menu looks interesting however… I am undecided whether I would recommend this to anyone but as there is no maybe option I shall tick no.    We were on time for our 12h15 lunch. We were seated immediately and received our entrees/bread from the set menu. However, I had to pay extra for the wine taster. I ordered $22, while a glass of wine or beer for $ 30 was included in the set menu price. We then have to wait more than an hour for our main course. Then after that, we waited for 45 minutes for our dessert, which after requesting three times, never arrived, so we left. We felt ripped off as we had to pay $ 54 per head for a set menu, but the service was pathetic. This is on Mother's Day!! If it were not that we had to pay before we got our food, I certainly would have refused to pay. This is such a pity, as the venue and ambiance are amazing.

   Came for the Mother's Day lunch. Service was below average. Took 30mins for mains and 45 minutes for the dessert to come, after having to ask twice. Yes, it was busy, however noticed a lot of other tables that came in after us received their meals before we did. A very average Mother's Day.

   Took my mum and nan here for Mothers Day, unfortunately we all left disappointed. The set menu was delicious, can’t fault the food or the wines! However, the quality of service and wait times between each meal. After waiting an hour for the last course, we ended up making the decision to leave as we had already been there for over three hours. We asked multiple times how long the food was going to be with the same “we are plating it up” response wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here unfortunately.

   A lovely location for a restaurant that is lacking a few things, I think the location actually allows this place to be classier and more expensive with a less pub like menu. From wait staff that were all young and a bit disinterested, to sauces coming out in plastic containers you’d often get at a takeaway fish n chip shop, to sponsored umbrellas, this place really needs a bit of work. We enjoyed our lunch there but thought more could be done to make this place better

    Beautiful settling but very average service, will not return. Floor staff very friendly, but very understaffed. Food took 1 HR 45 mins to come, we were told a 45 min wait. Asked several times and were told it was on its way. When the burgers came they had no salad, just burger and cheese. Pumpkin salad also very average. Wine nice. Feel sorry for the staff!

    We arrived at 12:30pm for a prebooked lunch on Sunday. Our meal arrived at our table at 2:45pm. We had only ordered two salads - a Caesar and a Rocket and Pumpkin. The restaurant was understaffed and overbooked and couldn't cope with the number of guests who were dining. We won't be returning.

    If I could give no stars I would. Will not return to the Barrell. I had booked weeks ago for my husbands birthday for 8 people. We were seated at 12pm and ordered lunch just before 12:30 at 1:45pm we inquired as to where our lunch was and noticing the table behind us were only getting there meals 2 at a time and a bit of time between each 2 meals. We were then advised that our meals would be out in 10 minutes and that they had just placed our order. So we waited and at 2:15 ours meals still had not arrived we enquired again to be told they didn’t know how long the meals would be. We decided there and then that we would get a refund and try somewhere else as we were all starving we headed to the Maleny hotel where our meals were all served within 15 mins of ordering. such a disappointment.

    Accomodated a last minute change of time and number in party which was appreciated . However severely under staffed for how busy it was resulting in long delay with drink and food order - ordered two double mixed platters to share between the 2 couples and got one double & 1 single & were not able to then get anyone attention to rectify. Inside was a bit cramped due to busyness and queue for ordering as table ordering not available. Have wanted to visit this place for long time and not been open when able previously- will give it another go to see if this was just an Easter consequence

    Unfortunately being a long weekend the Barrel was not able to accommodate us with the full menu. This apparently was to do with the kitchen having problems. Our booking was for 1.15pm and we should have been contacted and advised so as we could have gone elsewhere. Drinks took over 20mins to receive and the back up menu did not cater for Vegans. The waiting staff were very young and could not answer questions. Over priced for what we were able to choose from. Disappointed as am a local and had other occasions that were pleasant.

    Placed a booking 4 weeks ago and rang to confirm seating inside! Arrived and told we couldn’t sit inside and we’re seated outside in full sun!!! A joke!!! On top of that, terrible limited menu again with no for warning whatsoever…. Got up and left in disgust!! Ruined our Easter!!!! Will never be back!!!

    We had difficulty booking online and via trying to call on the phone. When we arrived we were told that there was a limited menu. Our meals were very long to arrive and they obviously were understaffed. We got a refund on food that did not arrive at all.

    Very disappointed considering it was a special day - Easter. The Barrel offered an extremely limited overpriced menu that was sub standard and missing menu inclusions. The menu should have been disclosed at the time of booking to avoid alot of frusrated patrons. Staff looked stressed, overwhelmed and un-organised. The wait for food was too long and our table was forgotten. At least we could rely on the alcohol, which eventually came (after reminding the staff). Sorry, but won't be back in a hurry. :(

    We had originally booked an outdoor table nearest the playground but the weather ended up being very humid. The manager was extremely accommodating and arranged for us (as a large family group) to be placed indoors where there was air conditioning at such short notice. The service from him and all staff was outstanding and our group enjoyed everything about our visit that day. A few of the staff were very new but we found them to be polite and friendly and 100% doing the best they could. We have already booked another visit soon.

    Best hot chips on the coast! So good! Crispy, and miraculously crumbly in place on the outside, perfectly seasoned, soft on the inside. 5 stars for the chips! Paddles and Flights were fun, The staff were friendly and accommodating. We would have enjoyed the atmosphere more if the weather was better, but the barrel room was fun too. After a while it didn't matter, we were having a good time. Had Eggs Benny with salmon, Taste was excellent. presentation poor: the Salmon looked like it had slid straight from the microwave bag onto the plate landing exactly where it lay when they brought it out, slumped next to a hastily layered pile of lightly toasted bread, two eggs (they were cooked perfectly) and handful of raw spinach, topped with hollandaise... That's it .. for $25... Probably could have used some sides, hash browns, little piece of fruit (even a couple cold juicy orange slices), maybe a sprinkling of decorative parsley .. it was missing a finishing touch for added value. The whole experience was good, we left smiling and had fun.

    This vineyard and restaurant is so lovely and welcoming! A beautiful location and the grounds are immaculately kept. The staff are friendly and very helpful, making one feel at ease. The food and wine were very good value for money. Our anniversary was such a great day because of the Barrel!

    Exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff delivering an efficient and quality service. The wine tasting “flights” were well curated, we discovered some pleasing treats in the “premium” and “reserve” range. Double grazing plate was good, nothing too adventurous for the price, but the quality of the ingredients used was very good. The public holiday surcharge (15%) for food service was understandable, but it was also applied to take home wine bottle sales also. That to our mind was unconventional. Overall a very good experience, and we will make the Barrel a regular haunt.

    Lovely food here! The setting is amazing dining inside a barrel. However the staff were completely overwhelmed with the busyness - waiters were delivering plates to the wrong tables and our meal took 1 hour to come out. Felt sorry for the staff as they did the best however it felt very manic.

    We phoned ahead, made a booking, arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes early only to wait in the rain for 20 minutes before they found a table for us. It took 45 minutes for our meals to come out, which were disappointing in size and flavour. The waitress acted as if we were a total inconvenience to her day, and multiple waitresses had to get very close to us / stand over the top of us to see the table numbers which were written on scrap paper and sticky taped to the centre of the table. This occured with other diners meals, and our meals with the waitresses to other tables until their found ours. I've been looking forward to trying The Barrel for years, only to be left feeling disappointed with our experience.
