Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Reston
Monday - Thursday: 11:00am - 9:30pm, Friday & Saturday: 11:00am - 10:30pm, Sunday: 11:00am - 9:00pm
Only drawback is the noise level. Wait staff, food, wine — all terrific. Proud to introduce friends to Cooper’s Hawk!
Our server Amera, was great. I took my sister there for her birthday and the food and wine were good. We enjoy this restaurant a lot and frequent it at least once a month. Carson, who does the wine tasting is also amazing, we look forward to seeing him every time we go.
I decided to come here for a surprise birthday dinner and was not disappointed. We will definitely be back. Especially for the wine flight.
Our server was excellent! It was only his 5 th day on the job but he was friendly and attentive.
One of our entrees (grouper) was a disguised block of salt. Ate 2 bytes before I realized it. Appetite was destroyed and ruined the evening.
We normally have a wonderful experience at Cooper's Hawk, but this time was a bit different - the service from our waiter left a lot to be desired. (The food and wine were delicious, as they normally are!) Going back to our waiter, he didn't bring a decanter for our red wine. When I asked if we could get one, he said it was only for the Lux wines (which is not true) and said they only brought one to the table for normal red wines when asked for (also not true). I ordered soup, and it never arrived at the table. After our meals arrived, I asked to have the soup taken off our bill. Our waiter blamed someone else that the soup didn't arrive and said he would take it off our check. It wasn't taken off the first check, and he blamed that on his manager. It was difficult to "work" with him in regards to our bill. He messed things up on our bill multiple times (like the soup). By the 3rd time, we just dealt with it as best we could so we could pay & leave. Luckily we have had numerous great experiences here, so we know this was (hopefully) a one-off with the bad service!
We felt our waiter was pushing us to order and leave.
Great food. Very nice waitress. Love the wine.
Started with the Mexican Drunken Shrimp which was very good. Then waited a very long time for our entrees. After asking our waiter was told they should be coming up soon but no other explanation for the delay. Then a manager came over and offered a comped glass of wine for the delay but again no actual explanation of what happened. I had the special, two small filets with a lobster tail. My lobster tail was excellent the best I've had in a long time. The filets however, were boring. Not much taste to them. I know that filets are not the most flavorful cut of beef but these had very little flavor despite the parmesan and horseradish crusts on each. Both filets needed salt and pepper to start. My wife had the filets also with blackened ahi tuna as an add on. Tuna was fine, filets same as mine boring and not very flavorful. We have both had filets at other restaurants that have had a lot more flavorful so I know it's not an issue with filets in general.
I visited this busy, upbeat place a few times and each visit was totally different. Once excellent, once pretty good and the last time it was fairly good. The food and wine is good but a lot of the experience depends on the wait staff.
It was my wife’s birthday and she and a son prefer to eat gluten free. They accommodated us very well. We had a 5:30 PM reservation, but they were already out of ribs. Maybe next time. There will be a next time.!
Always enjoy the food here. We brought some "first timers" here and they too were impressed with the food. Two issues this visit. We were seated in a section that only had one other occupied table at the time and were placed right next to that table and they were LOUD! Our waiter did move us we we requested it, bu it seems like we could have been seated a couple tables away in the first place. The other issue - waiter was a bit too friendly, talkative. Some ay like this, but we found it a bit much.
As a wine club member, I booked Cooper's Hawk in Reston to celebrate my husband's birthday. The restaurant was very crowded on arrival and we had to wait about 10 min for a table for our 8:15 min reservation. We were seated by the window which was nice, but there was a cold draft. During our meal, several guests at the next table put on their coats. We mentioned to the waiter who said that nothing could be done. My husband ordered the short ribs and pasta and I the medallion and lobster as mains and onion soup, which the waiter said was topped with parmesean rather than provolone, and the pork tostados. The waiter returned to say they were out of the short ribs. My husband then ordered the pork chop. The waiter returned again and said that they were out of the parmesean topping for the lobster and gave me a choice of horseradish or blue cheese. I said blue cheese.
The starters arrived. The onion soup was topped with what appeared to be provolone. Ok, not parmesean, but it was ok. Tostados were fine. The lobster and medallians came and the topping was horseradish, very subtle, but horseradish. Ok. Food was warm, not hot, but ok. We ordered desert which was also ok.
During the meal my husband mentioned it was his birthday and I had included it on the reservation. Never, was his birthday acknowledged. Overall, for a birthday, it was a rather mediocre experience. We have had other similar experiences - OK, not nice and definitely not great. Potential here, but perhaps a bit of success has resulted in a mediocre meal and service.
The service was AMAZING. Our server, Johnathan, was funny and very attentive. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us his honest opinion. Excellent customer service!!!
Last trip here. The noise level is ridiculous to enjoy your meal.
Great service from Will...made the experience interesting and enjoyable.
We always love coming here. Good food and fun environment.
This was our first experience at Cooper’s Hawk and it did not disappoint. From the food and wine to the exceptional service we had an excellent time. Being our first time our server Lavergne provided us with a bit of the history behind the winery/restaurant and was very knowledgeable about the dishes and choices of drink. She provided top notch service throughout our experience. We are thankful for the warm and welcoming 1st time visit and know that we will return in the future.
What an awful lunch experience - again, I keep trying but 90 minutes it takes for a business lunch (even from scratch as they point out) is way too long.. so slow... and one person specified her fish medium well, and an allergy to sesame seeds, of course after waiting an hour, it came out sprinkled with sesame seeds on her salad .. she tried to keep the fish part but after trying to "convince" the waitress those were actually sesame seeds (she didn't believe us), the waitress said i want to show the chef to make sure and took the whole plate ... then never came back with an update or status. We all shared our food with our friend and then wallah the waitress came back with a fresh dish... which the dressing ended up being sesame based (but no seeds this time on top!) and the fish was rare..... The waitress was like - it's good right!! We just didn't bother as we wanted to get out of there...
This seems to happen every time we go..
Great for cocktails and apps, but avoid the restaurant unless you have patience and time...
Nice restaurant with very good food and a huge menu. The only issue is the service. We had a large party and we had a reservation. We were seated 15 minutes late because, we were told our waiter hadn't shown up yet. The restaurant was pretty empty for early lunch so they could have seated us somewhere else. Two people got the wrong meals after we were all served they finally brought the correct lunches. We were there to celebrate a special occasion and I had purchased truffles from the lobby before everyone got there. I made arrangements with the truffle counter person, the hostess and our waitress to bring them at the end of our meal. I had to ask twice until they finally showed up when we were done eating. When we tried to pay we all used cash except one person who paid by credit card. When the waitress brought our bill she had charged the one guest for the entire meal for 7 of us and the cash was gone from the folder. We couldn't find her to straighten out the bill until I finally went in back to look for her. She did fix it but never apologized or really said much at all.
Everything is perfect. From the wine, to the food, to the service.
Great service and very good fun! We had a wonderful there. The service was good and entertaining. All of the food was very good. Dessert was good as well.
The food and the service were great!
Great service (Wesley was our server)
Good table in the back.
We went to Coopers Hawk with high expectations due to recommendations from friends. We were overall happy with our experience but did not experience the “WOW” factor we anticipated. Two of the 3 steaks ordered were overcooked which was disappointing and the sides we’re underwhelming. For the cost of this meal, we have had better. I don’t think we’ll return.
We celebrated my wife's birthday here and as usual everything was amazing. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience was memorable.
The calamari is delicious and very unique. The butternut squash soup was thick and sweet, an overall nice presentation for a chilly night. The short ribs, seafood risotto and chicken giardineria were all excellent. The table shared the roasted Brussels sprouts which were full of flavor and textures. Skipped menu dessert, but bought individual treats up front from the speciality case.
Excellent food, fast service, tasty wines. I heartily recommend this winery and restaurant.
Had a great outing with a fabulous Thanksgiving meal with my wife. Wine was excellent. Portions were generous and our leftovers were great two days straight. Looking forward to our next visit.
Chose this place for our "restaurant Thanksgiving" dinner and were not disappointed. A fairly-priced prix fixe menu with substitutions allowed made for a lovely experience. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted excellent.
Had Thanksgiving dinner here. Very nice restaurant but on the expensive side. Great Thanksgiving meal - large portions - butternut squash bisque, roast turkey, gravy, green beans mixed with carrots, dressing, mashed red potatoes, and pumpkin cheesecake. Lots of staff and very efficient service.
This is a great place to go for dinner before or after a performance at the CenterStage in Reston.
We made a reservation for a Thanksgiving Dinner without an expectation of anything. The food was better than expected and the service was as good or better as any place we have ever visited. It was a little bit crowded between tables which is really the only non positive thing I can say about it. We are very happy with our initial experience with Coopers Hawk and will return very soon.
This was an Excellent Choice for our Thanksgiving or for any other special lunch/brunch/dinner. Cooper's Hawk- Reston took us right at our reservation time and my family got a very nice booth for our Thanksgiving meal. Our waiter was very attentive, even as more diners came in and we were served very promptly and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Turkey and vegetables were standouts and we would recommend dining here for the very wide selection of offerings on their menu. And of course, who could find fault with the extensive wine list! 5 Stars.
My wife and I went on Thanksgiving Day, so this may have been unrepresentative of a typical day. Our greeting was underwhelming and despite our being among the first diners that day and having made reservations days in advance, we were asked to sit at a very small table next to the doors to the kitchen. We objected and were given a better table. The server was confused about the Thanksgiving dinner menu, but apologetic after checking to learn that her initial understanding was incorrect. After that the service was fine. The food was excellent, especially for the price. The decor is nice, but not memorable. There are large windows to the outside for a good portion of the dining area (not where we were seated), but the the view is mostly just office buildings. For people in the Reston area, I recommend this restaurant, but it isn't special enough to merit a long drive.
Excellent meal this time. Most memorable was our wait staff who went well beyond what was necessary for us to have an excellent meal and enjoy a few memorable wine pairings.
Love this place but soooooo loud!!! Food is always fantastic.
Food was great! Wine was great! Our waiter, Will, was one of the best waiters I have seen in a long time.
