Chef Zach Pollack, of the critically acclaimed Silver Lake restaurant Alimento, is bringing his second concept to the East Side of Los Angeles with Cosa Buona, a restaurant that will celebrate Italian-American cuisine and the modern pizzeria. Housed inside the former Pizza Buona space which dates back to 1959, Cosa Buona continues to showcase Pollack’s inspired Italian dishes with an L.A. sensibility. Here, Pollack’s focus turns to expertly crafted antipasti, salads, and pizza, as well as a selection of both classic and playful interpretations of Italian sandwiches available for both lunch and takeout. Served in the restaurant’s convivial atmosphere, Pollack’s menu emphasizes the best versions of familiar favorites by using mindfully sourced ingredients from local artisans and growers complemented by a selection of natural wines from Italy and France.

To be in a restaurant with no one else on a Saturday night is weird, we ordered a ton of food at 8:30 and then they told us they were closing the kitchen at 9, the music was loud, the food was decent, our waiter was really nice, but I’ll never go back for dinner again. Who wants to be in a restaurant alone, that tells you the kitchen is closing when they bring your food, where there’s no Saturday night ambience for a pizza/wine spot?

Manager and Waitress were gracious and attentive. Hostess was rude beyond comprehension. Food Is great.

Food is delicious. Atmosphere is eclectic and inviting. My only minor issue is the reservation I made (for 2) was not honored due to limited seating availability. Hostess was accommodating, staff had a slight attitude, but no major issue.

I’ve been here before and my partner hadn’t. The taste of the food was magnificent the service however left us feeling like we aren’t of value. After entering we received waters and our menus. We decided what we wanted about 20-30 minutes pass by and we still haven’t had a server come to our table. About 40 minutes in I ask the host if we could get a server. She said this was odd and reassured us we would get someone soon. The server checks into the tables around us who already have food first and takes an order from someone who came in about 20 minutes after us. She asked us if we wanted drinks but never came back with them, then later asked us if we were ready to order food. Upon ordering food despite me ordering an appetizer she took away the empty plates that had been on the table since we arrived. She didn’t even give us our food or check in again but I saw her serving tables around us. We had to ask someone else for the box and we didn’t even get offered a dessert menu. I’m quite saddened by this experience because it was my partners birthday and last day in the US before he leaves on a business trip. We had to go across the street for drinks because the ones we ordered never came

Nice space and interesting menu. However virtually everything we ordered was completely overpowered with salt, seasoning, and chili. Very disappointing. Simple flavors where you can actually taste the main ingredient would have been so much better.
