Ordered 4 apps: spring rolls were good; pork dumplings were too salty (too much soy sauce); brussel sprouts were burnt, bland and not fit to eat; rainbow roll was just okay. Would not go back. Ray's Waikiki is SO much better and not that much more expensive.

Do not eat here!!! The food was terrible - the butterfish was over cooked and over sauced, the drinks tasted like bath water, the crudo had so much garnish it hide the limited caviar and roe, the pork bao was so fatty there was no pork. Our waiter was lovely but the manager and the hostess were beyond rude. To say the least it was a beyond disappointing experience and a waste of money. Eat anywhere else but here.

Its was a little tricky to locate, but such a great experience!! I would go back for the curry dish that I ordered. And the hubs really enjoyed his hearty burger. Live music was a bonus.

Cocktails and appetizers were great. Our waitress Kimmy was really good and guiding us on appetizers. Now the bad part. Steaks really overdone, fish also overcooked. Entrees overall just didn’t measure up. Maybe it was just a bad night but as I was entertaining customers I was embarrassed as I was the one who recommended we go.

Was there for happy hour, ordered Brussel sprouts, chicken, ribs and poutine, also the 3 tacos Tuesday special. The tacos were very good, but they were beat by the small plates, the sprouts were the best I’ve eaten, but everything was excellent, good waitering and bussing too, excellent experience.

The food was exquisite. Played beautifully and the tastes were amazing . Garrett our server was THE BEST. Honest and knowledgeable plus just a very pleasant fun person. Will definitely be back and will definitely request Garrett!!!

We always get amazing service at Eating House! The Misoyaki Butterfish was in point and they were also able to whip up an off menu Vegan dish that was very tasty! We would highly recommend Eating House to anyone looking for a great local style upscale meal while in Waikiki!

The food was absolutely amazing. We did the date night special, it was a lot of food for the price of it. Everything came out hot and tasted delicious. All staff was very attentive, making sure our drinks stayed full and clearing any empty plates from our table ASAP.

One of the best meals I've had on this trip. The poke medley was fresh and flavorful. I had my fish sautéed with the risotto and I ate every last bite.

Eating House 1849 is an unbelievable experience. My wife and I had the 8oz filet mignon with Yukon gold mashed potatoes, crispy grilled Brussels Sprouts, veggie medley and Lyonnaise potatoes. The filets were cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. The temperature of the food was spot on. The wait staff was very attentive. If you are in Honolulu visit the Eating House at the international market place (3rd level) on Kalakaua Ave. You will not be disappointed. Make sure to make reservations.

Roy’s 1849: Best Burger, Best Bar Hangout!!! Thursday night was Lewis and two Sasha’s manning the fort. Drinking Honolulu brewed Cocoweizen Pilsner. Live music. Can’t ask for more Aloha!!

Everyone in our party of five selected a different entrée, and everyone was beside themselves with how wonderful the food was. I can’t eat gluten, so I am sometimes disappointed with choice but at the eating house it’s never a problem. There is even a fantastic chocolate dessert that I always order and it never disappoints.

Celebrated my birthday last night at my favorite restaurant. Greeted with a little "Happy Birthday" chalkboard on the table, we continued to the Sundown Supper and Happy Hour favorites. The lilikoi mojitos were wonderful as were the mango cocktails. The pupu platter served with the Sundown Supper of egg rolls, spare rib and the bao wrapped pork belly never fails to delight (almost a meal in itself) and the fresh catch made to order (I chose grilled with the risotto) was amazing. They brought me a complimentary chocolate souffle to celebrate my birthday and of course the Sundown Supper came with little pots de creme with a lilikoi topping, always wonderful. Our other guests had an assortment of the pupus on the Happy Hour menu plus the excellent burger/beer combo. The service was so nice and friendly and attentive, as usual. The entertainment was really terrific. Eating House 1849 never disappoints. Thank you all, absolutely love Eating House 1849!

Taco Trio Tuesday!!! I’m hooked. The three fish tacos magnificently brought to you by the 1849 Back Da House Gang are marinated black cod (Butterfish), seared and spiced local caught ahi tuna, and tempura macadamia Kampachi. Ask my favorite Aloha barkeep Audrey for some Siracha to give it that extra kick and excuse to drink another Cocoweizen Pilsner brewed right here in town. Every night is great here at Roy’s Eating House but Taco Tuesday, Island style, is very special indeed!!

Really enjoy sitting outside with shade and nice breeze. Service was excellent. Food was good but just not as memorable as I would expected from the other reviews. The poke was over saturated and a little salty. The sautéed mahi mahi with beurre and truffle risotto was really good.

I like this concept better than the traditional Roy’s. Food quantity is outstanding as standard for Roy’s, but the different styles and combinations are more diverse and tastefully interesting.

The manager has noticed that I’ve been there frequently twice and sent a free appetizer and a free drink in appreciation. I travel for business and usually find one restaurant that’s my favorite and settle in for the duration. On Oahu, that’s been the Eating House. The manager noticing me and sending freebies is icing on the already well decorated cake! Highly recommend!

If you’re craving for that ultimate burger, Roy’s Eating House has the best in paradise!! The 1849 burger is just a fantastic blend of local flavors and beef/bison stacked up high and a formidable challenge to finish. Their fries are great too, even better “Poutine” style with that rich short rib gravy. I’m getting hungry just writing this as I always dine here at the 1849 bar on my last night, repeated this tradition sixteen times in the last two years or so……they do things with a lot of Aloha here!!!
