Traditional Mexican street food with a twist! @eljardin.sj is nestled off to the side in the middle of lively Santana Row! This is actually just a bar, but the “bar food” makes it seem more like a restaurant because the dishes are sooo good! 🔥 I don’t think I’ve tried a place where ALL of their slow-cooked meats were actually tender and juicy, cooked perfectly 🤌🏽 Service is excellent and the night we went, they had a DJ. Good drinks and good selection of tequilas. Ambiance was great. Seating specially at the bar could be cleaner specially the stools. Good was nothing fancy but good.

My husband and I took a friend there for dinner tonight. We enjoyed the food and the music. A lot of wonderful, beautiful people. Just enjoying the evening and having fun.

Love the atmosphere at this centrally located Santana Row restaurant. I had never eaten there. We found the service to be excellent. The DJ is fun with the music. Our cocktail was very watery. I had a tropical margarita. I tasted fruit punch and tequila and it was very mediocre if not poor. I had the layered dish with the poblano cream and the Tinga chicken. It was very bland. Our other meats that we had on tacos was also very bland the fruit sticks with Tajin and lime juice was just OK. That presentation was cute. The salsa and chips is insanely priced at $10. The salsa was tasty however, but overall everything was pretty bland and substandard.

Our food was amazing, and very well put together. However, we told the waitress to course out our meal. Meaning, we wanted our appetizer first, then our main courses with our sides. When everything came out at the same time I was genuinely confused. Our waitress had an attitude from the very start. She didn’t make any suggestions, and was clearly annoyed that we sat in her section. She clearly didn’t read the notes from the host stand, because when it came down to the end, she didn’t even offer dessert. When I asked for the dessert menu, she rolled her eyes, and I had to tell her we were celebrating my mom’s birthday. My parents almost got up and left in the beginning, but I told them the food was worth staying for. Not sure who she is, but I would highly suggest she gets a job that doesn’t involve dealing with the public. She’s clearly not a people person, and is in this position for all the wrong reasons - fast money. Luckily, I know how to handle situations like this, but I wouldn’t be so sure about the next family that sits in her section. Please re-certify this person, and emphasize the importance of hospitality. I fear that if this isn’t done in time, El Jardin will end up like many other restaurants in Santana Row - out of business and out of mind.

The food was very dry and not good. The server wasn’t very helpful as he was busy, but maybe they need more staff to better assist with picking items if we haven’t been, as this isn’t a typical Mexican restaurant they don’t have burritos enchiladas molcajete or known items such as that. wouldn’t return too many other nice restaurants, maybe only for a drink since drink was good.
