El Rincón de Rafa is Manchester"s longest-serving independent Spanish restaurant, having been in the city centre for 22 years. A family run establishment, El Rincón is regularly described as a 'hidden gem' and offers a relaxed, authentic experience, brought to Manchester from Málaga by owner Rafael Cabrera-Vargas.
El Rincón offers a large range of tapas and main courses (including paellas) and a fully stocked bar with a huge variety of Spanish beers (both bottles and draught) and wines.
The off the beaten track but central location of El Rincón (close to the Hilton hotel - turn down St John's St from Deansgate and take the first right) ensures an unbeatable authentic Spanish atmosphere, but with hidden nooks and crannies for a more intimate feel.
The restaurant doesn't accept bookings for two, seating couples at a number of tables on a first come, first served basis. Customers are also welcome to visit just the bar for food and/or drinks.

A happy atmosphere in authentic surroundings which is great value for money for the larger groups and the house Rioja was very good. We had a great time and would recommend it.

Pleasant venue. We had a selection of tapas - three each. It made for great variety and all were very tasty. With drinks and pudding the cost was about £25 per head which I thought was good value for the amount and quality of tapas.

Having read others reviews and know some people who have been here was really looking forward to some great food , unfortunately it was less than average in my opinion , the food was barely warm , we had to send the kebabs back as they were cold in the middle so clearly not freshly made/cooked , just reheated ( not what I expect ) , the service was good although we did feel like they were rushing us as barely gave us chance to look at the menu , but I suppose I'd rather that than poor service. I wouldn't recommend and I won't be returning there any time soon. Maybe I'm picky but my benchmark is evuna that never fails to impress me

We booked this restaurant yesterday only to be told when we arrived that they no longer accept bookings via Opentable and we should complain to them, not the restaurant! We did get a table but only for 1.5 hours so spoilt the evening slightly, as we were celebrating a friends birthday. Food was excellent as always, just would have liked more time to eat it!

Terrible service. Booked a table for this restaurant on opentable.co.uk and we called to confirm our reservation. They told us we should have called them to make a reservation and that there were no tables available. They proceeded to blame us for using the booking website they signed up to, telling us that if we had a complaint to take it up with opentable. Since this was a Saturday night, and all restaurants were fully booked following this altercation, we had to cancel our dinner plans.

The Tapas at this restaurant was delicious we couldn't fault it. However the waiting staff did not serve us very quickly and it took quite a while to even get a drink served. Also when we came to order a sweet they only had 2 types of dessert. Not even any ice cream. And it wasn't even 7pm. The restaurant didn't have very much atmosphere. Food excellent though.

We experienced terrible service from the moment we sat down at our table. The food came out 1 or 2 at a time & there was considerable delay between each tapas coming out. Apart from the pastas bravos & meatballs The food was generally very poor & the last 3 dishes came out so long after we had received our first tapas that we had lost our appetite by then. At no point did anybody come to ask us whether everything was ok nor to ask if we would like any other drinks. Overall a terrible experience that we would not want to repeat.
