The portion for the price is perfect. The service was amazing and so was the dessert. I would recommend everyone to come at least once and try it for themselves. They have wide variety for any ones taste.
Service was extremely slow. The appetizer we ordered, the chicken dumplings only had 2 in each order, the other day there was 4 in one order so that was ridiculous
Waited an hour after reservation to be seated and order taken. Took a long time for food to be served.
So I normally come here and have never had a problem but this Sunday was the worst service by the hostess I have ever experienced at any of their establishments. She informed me when I checked in 10 minutes early for my reservation that they were running behind because I had requested outdoor seating and people were not getting up. There is no time limit for the table. Which is fine. I decided to wait. 30 minutes later I checked in and she assured me I was the next table to be seated outside. After this I saw 2 groups who came in after me be seated. When I went back in the lies began (1) “I texted you and you didn’t respond”, clearly a lie because I made my reservation through open table and you have my number, regardless of this the seaters were going outside and calling names (2) “the other parties had a 1;45pm reservation” this is clearly a lie because why did you tell me I was next. After waiting another 10 minutes (I have been waiting for almost an hour watching everyone get seated), I finally asked can I just have a table inside and we were seated. I can understand busy or if you made a mistake but don’t insult me by lying.
The waitress was amazing the food was great but I will probably just stick with Founding Farmers in the future.
Had a reservation for 2 pm brunch on Sunday. Didnt get sat until 3 pm food was cold from the buffet and was very lackluster in appearance. Server was so pleasant and made great recommendations for dessert
I had dined there before but never for weekend brunch. The food was good, and reasonably priced. They set up for social distancing. We appreciated that, eating and staying safe.
Our overall experience was good. We sat outside which was good and bad. Good because it was a beautiful day. Bad due to a large bug and bird problem - we came back to the table to a bee swimming in our ice tea. We were seated next to the water feature and the birds were taking baths, splashing around. Our server wasn't as attentive as we would have liked. On several occasions we had to flag down a server or manager walking by to order items. The food was AMAZING. The portions were small. Servers at the buffet look at you funny if you asking could you get a little more to the serving they offered. Despite these hiccups, I would highly recommend Farmers & Distillers to a friend - I would suggest they choose indoor seating and ask their server to bring everything included in the buffet that isn't on the food line.
Great brunch. Really appreciate the efforts to keep things orderly and safe.
The new precautions are great. Hopefully they will think about keeping the new service when the world opens back up.
We went for their weekend buffet brunch. We have done several other buffets during the pandemic and most restaurants have adjusted well but not this one. It was not a pleasant experience. You could tell the workers serving food were annoyed by it. They were doing the bare minimum. The buffet area is very small so everyone has to walk single file (which I understand) but you can't see what's coming in terms of food and the food was not labeled properly. They were also out of items which is a problem when you have been standing in line for a while to get served. Once you passed an item you couldn't go back unless you did the line again. I actually had to ask the person serving me if I had done something to upset him because I couldn't understand why he was serving me with such an animosity.
Back at the table the service wasn't any better. Our waitress kept disappearing for a long time. She never explained to us that we needed to order certain items through her (she only mentioned when we said those items weren't at the buffet). We asked for salt and pepper because the food was bland and she took 15 mins to bring that. I'm so flabbergasted that at a time when so many restaurants are hurting for business that you would find places with poor service. I'm out because I'm trying to support businesses. At least put a little effort.
For the price there are much better options. I do not suggest the brunch buffet at all.
Been here a couple times. Love the atmosphere and menu. The service is very slowww but this is not the server-ours was great each time we have been. Each time we have been everything takes a long time. 4 for dinner at 7:30 and it was 2 hours. This is not the first time. I am not sure why the service takes so long -maybe because the place is big??
Hi BSGALY: I am real sorry for the slow-paced service during your visits. :( We appreciate you taking the time to let us know that this has been your experience with us, and I would love the chance to connect about your feedback & turn around the poor impression we've left you with. I will send you a DM with my email address and thank you so much! -Amy
Great food, although my order was put in wrong, I still like what I got! Service was outstanding, and all his cocktail recommendations were fab!
We had hoped that this was a local place to eat with the local feel atmosphere. It was more like a national chain. The server seemed annoyed to be waiting on us from the minute she approached our table. The service was vert slow, beers arrived cool, not cold. Appetizers came room temp. Not going back. The food was similar to a national chain. Not much to remember.
Really enjoyed the food and service. Was really shocked though to get charged $3 when I asked for more bread for my appetizer! And that was never communicated to
Me by my server.
Server wasn't attentive and food wasn't good
Great experience for my family visiting from out of town
We went close to closing time. Which was weird we were seated but a little rushed. That was something new.
Thank you for your review, RAns and I am sorry to learn the service was rushed this time. We appreciate you letting us know, and our Management Team will take this into account & follow up with our staff that worked the evening of 9/25. We do hope to have you back again soon, and please call us anytime for a reservation: 202-464-3001. -Amy
Fantastic happy hour! Great small bites and cocktails for a good price.
10/10 :) One of the best restaurants in DC!!!!
WOW! Thank you, Caroline for your wonderful review and we really appreciate your 10/10 rating!! :) Whoo-hoo!! -Amy
Excellent restaurant I recommended for brunch. The food is excellent.
Enjoyed it. Seemed to have too few servers to accommodate both indoor and outdoor diners.
The Farmers' brand restaurants are among my favorites in Washington, D.C. However, this visit was did not live up to my expections. Farmers and Distillers' new COVID brunch process still needs tweaking. Patrons were asked to stand outside while waiting. Standing outside would have been fine, if not for the cool weather. When I expressed my concern to the host/manager about missing the brunch (our reservation was at 2 pm), he suggested that we order from the menu. We drove to the restaurant for brunch, and I called prior to leaving home to confirm my reservation.
Our party of 3 was finally seated 30 minutes after our reservation time.
Once seated we ordered the buffet, but we were also not made aware that several brunch items that were not found on the buffet line, could be ordered. The buffet stations were not all manned, so there was always wait.
Our faves fried chicken, lasagna, grilled grapefruit, were still delicious, but this experience left a lot to be desired. We will definitely wait awhile before visiting again.
Thank you, CaliGirlNOT for sharing your review with us. I am real sorry to read that our buffet brunch service was not as expected, and sadly this experience didn't really WOW you. :( We appreciate you letting us know, and I would love the chance to connect about your feedback. I will send you a DM with my email address. -Amy
Waiter (Jeffrey) was very rude and dismissive. After asking about some of the brunch options, specifically how patrons were getting their meals, Jeffrey responded to my question saying, “I don’t know anything about that. I don’t know.” At no point in time did he offer to follow up on my question and quite honestly it seemed as though he could care less.
I was shocked F&D is still serving brunch buffet style. Diners must line up around the inside of the restaurant (the spaces between those lined up did NOT seem to be six feet apart), then an employee would but on the plate what you ask for similar to a cafeteria. With the amount of people in the line and in the restaurant dining it doesn’t seem they were following the DC guidelines for how many people can be in a building. I’m so thankful for our server, Benjamin, who understood our concerns and went ABOVE and BEYOND for me and my family by bringing us food family style. He was INCREDIBLE and OUTSTANDING!
We of course chose outside dining for additional safety. With that said, it was very breezy and chilly so heaters would have been nice.
