Got the avocado toast was ok, mushroom croquettes were ok, the paella totally disappointing, no taste, dea pieces of chorizo at the bottom of the rice..
Our server didn’t offer refill or dessert, he was busy talking at the bar.
This is my third time at Fig and Olive Fifth Avenue. I think they recently their menu as I was not able to find the dish I usually order. I ordered the fig And olive salad and I was really disappointed. It tastes very sour, only sour flavor. Vegetables don’t look fresh. I probably won’t go there again.
I love this restaurant! It has become my go to! The food is always great...their fig and olive salad is amazing as is their Chateaubriand and citrus chicken! Do not get me started on their desserts which are the best! Their appetizers are great...especially the cauliflower and their signature crostini's are the best. But what really special about this restaurant is the staff. From the amazing hostesses who great you with a warm smile, they seat you quickly, are able to answer questions about the menu and expected serving time. They are a great first impression. Followed by the dinning staff! Everyone is very personable, they are extremely knowledgeable and will give you suggestions if asked and why they chose to tell you about that. I have had Mario on several occasions and he is super helpful, funny and attentive without being overbearing. Great guy! But the others are just as great from getting you salt and pepper, clearing your plates, delivering the food always with a professional style, smile and service. The chef's prepare everything fresh and with such flavor profiles that I am always happy with anything I have had. It may sound cliche but they make you feel like you are welcome and the most important people in the restaurant when you are there. One final thought the atmosphere is inviting, it's well lit with natural light as well as their fixtures, the decor is fun, modern and clean. The noise level is moderate everyone laugh, eating and enjoying themselves and the food but not to the point of distraction it is respectful with out being stodgy or uptight. I would give this restaurant 5 stars any day!
Our first time. We wanted something different that everyone could enjoy and they did a great job. The restaurant was very clean and looked to be well attended to physically. The food was very good. To Start I had the cheese board and the others had scallops. For the entree I had the wild mushroom rigatoni which was delicious, others had rosemary infused lamb chops, salmon, and a vegetarian dish that they all reported as delicious. The drinks were generous and the desserts (the cheese cake) were perfect. We had a birthday celebration and Brandon our server was terrific, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Made us all feel very comfortable. We will definitely be back. Thank you making our recent dining experience an enjoyable one. See you next time.
Very enjoyable. Chic ambiance and attractive surroundings, food was outstanding in all regards. Service was straightforward but not exceptional; the only real fault I can note is the food came out too quick - -the appetizers came out virtually the same time as the drinks, and the entrees came out before we were done with the apps. So definitely felt rushed in that sense, but the quality and presentation of all our order was quite special, and reasonably priced.
Fig & Olive has creative cocktails, a very user friendly wine list and a range of food choices that cover all
“American fare” // All of the appetizers (and we ordered a lot) were well done // The menu could be a little more creative // Food choices were well done - but, in a safe zone //
Inattentive, awkward service. At brunch took 15 min just to get someone to say hello so we could request coffee. Regularly rushed to take plates as we still had food in our mouths. Food was good but not worth going back for the poor service.
We've been to Fig it's also worth saving space for dessert. Make a reservation on OpenTable.
We were seated as soon as we walked in (great!). As it was a 6pm reservation, the place was empty (except for the bar). Service was atrocious! The waiter immediately arrived at our table and asked whether we wanted wine or drinks. We asked for the drink menu as well as food menu, and also asked for water. The waiter immediately came back with the drink/wine menu and didn't even give us time to open the menu before again asking us about our drink order - feeling rushed at this point. The crostini appetizer was good, but my main dish (short ribs) was ill prepared (way too salty and an odd tasting red wine reduction) and very fatty. I was still eating (fork and knife in hand) when they came to ask whether I was done - I wasn't. This happened three more times in the next ten minutes and the restaurant was was still relatively empty - inconceivable! When I was done with my meal, no one came to take the dishes for 46 minutes (yes, we timed it - lol). We were in the restaurant for 1 hour and 40 minutes (drinks, apps, entrees and dessert), and nearly half of that time was waiting for the table to be cleared and the rest being pressured to order quickly. Needless to say, we won't be back! Such an unpleasant experience!
Fantastic food. The only downside was the unattractive and awkwardly sited restroom.
I am a big fan of Fig and Olive, and have been to the location in Westchester many times. The 5th Avenue location at lunchtime is significantly louder and more crowded. The food was good and we both had very expensive salads. Our server was very efficient and accommodating. Go later in the afternoon if you want it a bit quieter.
I had a reservation for four people on a Wednesday night at 715. I arrived at 710 and told the hostess. I wasn’t seated u til 8:10 after going up to the hostess multiple times and asking when we would be seated she kept saying we’re next we’re next and we were not seating until fifty minutes later and no accommodations were made at all. Very ridiculous be waiting for that long of a time. food was delicious and ambiance was beautiful
Excellent food and service. Convenient to 5th Avenue shopping.
I requested to be on the second floor because it was too noisy but they told me it was not possible, and the second floor was almost empty. The food was ok, but I expected more of the ambiance.
Hi, this was my fist time there and we were 6 ppl and 5 out 6 did not enjoy our dishes. I was expecting the food to be better especially for the cost. Ambiance was good.
My mom & I booked dinner reservations before a show and they were accommodating towards the service and time that we wanted to leave the restaurant. The food is spectacular!
This place has been going steadily downhill over the past year or so. At lunch particularly, the check in with the host/hostess is a nightmare-- overcrowded, uncomfortable and always running a wait despite your reservation. Because I work nearby, I'm normally a lunch customer. But I went for dinner recently and it was a nightmare. Half the upstairs dining room was being used, very awkwardly, for an office cocktail party, while the rest of the seated patrons had people milling around their tables. After an hour or so of that, the staff was ordered to reset the dining room with the regular tables and chairs, which necessitated moving things in from the service stairwell. As it was under 25 degrees that night, this meant a bone-chilling gust of wind blasting through the dining room every time the door to the stairs was opened. By 9:30 pm, the staff was busy putting out the candles and giving every indication that customers should call it a night. Perhaps F&O would prefer to keep expanding their business to more suburban neighborhoods where their staff can be at home in bed by 9pm. But I think they're done in NYC. This restaurant has become this generation's Sizzler.
We were seated upstairs. The music was crazy loud and there was nowhere to escape it as there are speakers over every table. The server was overly doting to the point of annoyance. The food was average at best with a high price tag.
We wanted a place to have a nice conversation in a lovely atmosphere before a Broadway Matinee. We were very pleased with our experience. The location is perfect for anyone seeing a show in the W52 area, it’s away from crazy Times Square yet only two blocks away.
That said we much prefer the 14th Street location ambience. Even though this location emphasizes Fifth Avenue, the space is tight. Also, the food is good, and being away from Times Square is worth it to me, but several of the entrees plus the cocktails, were overpriced.
Love the food. Great wine. Loved our server too
My partner and I went to Fig + Olive for a date night as we were visiting NYC soon after Xmas, and the whole experience was outstanding.
The staff went above and beyond to cater to our needs, even hand crafting specialist non alcoholic cocktails for us. The food was amazing - cooked to perfection and peppered with an array of flavours. Even the bread comes with artesian orange balsamic glaze, which was sensational.
Pricing was reasonable, everything was wonderfully presented, and the decor was wonderfully elegant and truly gave an authentic Mediterranean feel.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND - NEIGHBOURHOOD GEM
Celebrated the birthday of two friends this past Saturday and it really was a great night. The seafood dishes were fantastic (salmon, sea bass), but the 4 friends who shared 2 chateaubriand felt it was nothing special, specifically the mashed potatoes falling very short. Our waiter was nice, and they even sent out two desserts for the birthday guests unexpectedly.
We would definitely come back in the future, but maybe not on a Saturday night when it is so busy.
Very mediocre food. We had some of the crostini’s and they weren’t bad, actually pretty good but
As Fig in West Hollywood the server always makes you feel special, on 5th Avenue we had to wait more than 10 minutes for the server to even show up. They failed to deliver their famous bread with different types of olive oils until our first course was well under way. Additionally, the waiter failed to describe the oils but just left them on the table instead. The food was more or less of the same quality but it just didn't feel as good given the entire non-food experience. Instead of an upscale restaurant I am used to in West Hollywood, this 5th Avenue location felt more like a nicer version of Denny's.
Our dinner was amazing! I loved the ambiance and will definitely be coming back when I’m in town in the Spring.
Great place. The sorbet was heavenly.
Overrated, the place is really nice but the food is only okay as such I didn’t feel the value for our money.
Food is good, service is fast but the noise level is too high. Not ideal for a business lunch.
The fois gras crostini was to die for!!! I had an after Christmas dinner with a good friend and everything was delicious. Drinks for different and delicious, my salmon was excellent, but her risotto was out of this world. I can't wait to go back!
Terrific food and service.
Lunch very popular but food disapointing. Very high noise level when at its fullest. Not conducive to meaningful conversation. Service was professional and the decor was very pleasing. Considering the other options in the area that would provide better food, I would not return.
Food and service was amazing!
6 of us for dinner, food was good nothing that really was outstanding.
Too noisey for my liking and tables too close. Very good service.
Just the most wonderful food and attentive friendly service
Good food and great ambiance. Service nit super attentive. I kerp on coming back but the noise level is terrible. It kind of destroys the conversation
Friend and I enjoyed burgers while walking around nyc. She loved the salmon burger but did not like the texture of the salad. I had the lamb burger- ok but not well seasoned and enjoyed the watercress salad. Both enjoyed the roasted potato “fries “ wished there were more and they needed salt.
Everything was very good except my dish - mushrooms risotto- was too salty.
