Firebirds Wood Fired Grill - Gainesville
Food not cooked correctly on 1st or 2nd attempt. Hour for entrees to arrive and 22 min to get food recooked.
Server was slow and rarely came to table.
Been here 2 times, both times, had same problem.
Excellent service and good prices. Would like the center cut sirloin back on the menu.
Food is good. Table service is good, but call in your drink order before arriving if you want them before dinner. Bar is EXTREMELY slow.
Reservations for mid-week easy to get for the requested time.
Wait time for meal was almos 45 minutes and the place was not crowded.
Have had faster service on a weekend. Perhaps chefs were off. When food did arive it was prepared to perfection.
Always a favorite when ordering beef/
We have eaten here many times and this was the worst dinner we've ever had there. It took an hour to get our entrees. My filet was barely still warm and I think wrapped in bacon (I had ordered porcini crusted). I was so hungary by that time that I didn't want to send it back. Also the caramel sauce (comes with dessert) that is usually to die for was cold and lumpy. By then we had been there over 2 hours and just wanted to go home.
Nice restaurant. Great choices except no crab cake entree. Service was prompt and attentive. The ambience was very nice. We dined outdoors on the patio and it was a perfect evening for this rather than waiting an hour for indoors seating.
Food took over two hours to arrive. When it did come, it was luke warm. It will be a while before I try this place again
Last minute decision to go out to eat. Luckily made a reservation. The wait line was incredible. We just cruised in. Our server was excellent. Dinner was great.
This is a great place to eat and take your time. Friday and Saturday night the place is very very busy and food delivery takes longer than other nights. Outside seating is wonderful when temps allow. Outside seating is limited, make reservations!
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary! My husband said the shrimp was the best he’s ever had. The steak was great also.
Everything was great. Dustin the manager is a gem.
Visit Firebirds often - three stars because the special item was not really that special. I should know better because the specials in most restaurants usually are more expensive and not as good as the regular items. The Porcini Crusted Beef Filet was pretty dry for a filet and the vegetable portions were far less then pictured in the ad. We asked the wait staff what exactly the porcini crust was - they were not sure but insisted it was delicious. After a few more questions both admitted they really had not tried it. The SESAME ENCRUSTED SALMON came without the sauce but my friend did not send it back because she said it was still good and she was trying to diet. In spite of the fact we were there early - and there were not that many customers - we still had to flag down the waitress for more water on more then one occasion. The crust on the bread was also extra dry - not sure what they did to it because it usually is not that hard to cut - but we were told it just came out of the oven. It seemed as though it might have been the second trip to the over because of how dry it was. Will still go back since it has been very good in the past.
If it wasn’t for the manager and another server other than ours I would never go back. Our server was non existent. No silverware, even after the salads were brought, we had to find someone and ask for napkins and knives. Food came out incorrect, wrong size, wrong temperature (medium well instead of rare) and no one could find our server to help us out. Eventually another, wonderful server helped us out and the manager was very kind and apologetic. They made all the mistakes tolerable. The manager deserves an A+ for his customer service and triage skills.
Service was extremely slow but food was phenomenal
I can’t say enough about the great food, service, and ambiance at FireBirds! We go there for all of our special occasions and more! I highly recommend FireBirds to everyone!
my last visit was very disappointing. Service was poor. We had to wait for some time before our waiter came buy. we felt rushed by the waiter and he was not very attentive. our dinner order was incorrect and i had to send my salmon back to the kitchen because it was under cooked. my son had ordered shrimp with his steak and did not get. we had to ask another waiter to find ours so we could get my sons dinner completed . Hi steak was very fatty. my wifes salmon was over cooked and lacked flavor.
Great time - enjoyed dinner and drinks.
Will be back soon.
We enjoyed our meal very much. This was a dinner with friends and there were choices for all of us. The seared tuna salad was extraordinary! Service was kind, attentive and efficient. We will certainly be back in the future. Remember to always make a reservation, they are quite busy on the weekends especially.
Food was amazing as usual and service was great. I love the consistency of this place. We’ve never had a bad experience here.
This is the third time I've order the Parmesan Encrusted Mahi - It has been my favorite.
This time It was cooked a little hard on the outside. Other times it was just perfect. Not this time. Mahi was good, but outside too overcooked.
Wait for food took a little longer than usual.
Excellent as usual! Food and service was superior, even with 2 small children. Thanks
We always enjoy our dinner at Firebirds.
My family went to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Gainesville, VA to have a nice experience in celebrating Father's Day. Unfortunately, my husband's steak was over-cooked to his liking, and had to be redone. So he had to wait longer on his meal. Then, I could not finish my own plate, and asked to have it boxed up to take home with me. After paying the check, I noticed I still hadn't gotten my boxed-up leftovers. When I asked about it, my waitress frantically went back to check the kitchen. Somehow, it got mistaken with other plates and was thrown out. The redemption of the afternoon, was a manager urgently requesting that I have a new, full meal made of what I ordered, boxed up for me to take home. Along with this, I received a gift card to return for a future date. Lesson-learned, is to be weary of how well a restaurant can actively handle all situations for a holiday/special occasion event, in ensuring patron satisfaction in their dining experience.
Went for Fathers Day and our waitress was great! She was so kind and attentive. The food was phenomenal as always and it was a great time with family
Very efficient service. Meals were the appropriate temperature. Our waiter Jordan consistently checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal and had everything that we needed. This is the best service I’ve had from a restaurant in a long time.
Firebirds never disappoints. My husband and I like to share our meal and the kitchen is always so helpful in splitting it up before sending it to the table.
The server was great and we even got to meet the general manager. They made our experience extremely enjoyable and we definitely want to return.
Was seated as soon as we arrived. Our waitress, Allison, was fantastic. Attentive, but not intrusive. Suggested perfect wine to go with my steak. Food was cooked perfectly, served hot, and delicious. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants, but this one seems to have gotten everything right. The manager, Dustin, took time to check on how we were enjoying our meal and obviously enjoyed his work. Friendly staff, great food and nice bar.
It was awesome!!!!
Great service!!! Great food!!!!!
We made a reservation and were seated immediately at a very nice table away from noise and foot traffic. The food was well prepared and the wine was delicious. Ambiance, service and meal was terrific.
Waited 10 min to be seated with a reservation.
Both my husband and I ordered the surf and turf (lobster tail and filet). Asked filet to be cooked med/rare and we ordered 2 different sizes. We waited a significant amount of time before our main dishes arrived. Once they did arrive, we noticed no difference in size between the 2 filets and my husband’s was over cooked and my lobster tail was a little overdone, but not horrible. They promptly took care of getting another filet cooked properly and when it came out, it was noticeable larger, too, which means they initially brought him the small size after they insisted it was larger.
There also seems to be a fly issue they can’t seem to get under control (we frequent this restaurant and have noticed the issue for almost a year now), so it is constantly annoying having to wave them away from our food and drinks. This issue has already been brought to their attention and it seems as though they make excuses and say it’s because of the bar. Will likely not be frequenting as often in the future.
Food was great and service was good! Our favorite restaurant in Gainesville!
Very enjoyable experience. Good food, atmosphere and service!
It was an awesome experience. We were sat in a timely manor. The service was great. Will go again
Firebirds quickly became my favorite restaurant when it opened here in Gainesville. The food is great, drinks are not watered down, and selection of both beers, wines, and food is great. My only negative from this visit is that my best friend ordered the 14 oz Ribeye and it was at best 7 oz and not cooked properly. However, the smoked Chicken Wings are the best in this area.
Good for casual dinners.
We enjoy Firebirds! We dine there often. Ryan was our waiter and he was great. Highly recommend!
As usual, the sesame salmon was excellent. Had a very nice conversation with the manager when she came by to be sure everything was OK. The server was very nice but she forgot to tell us about one of the menu items which was not available.
