Firebirds Wood Fired Grill - Gaithersburg
I like this place. Good food and drinks.
Overall we had a pretty good experience!
I made a reservation for 8 but 9 people ended up coming. When I told the manager this, he was a little over the top. He seemed frantic because all he had was seating for 8 but it was in a booth so we were able to squeeze 9 people at the table without a problem. He was nice and then got the birthday girl a drink. However, his first initial reaction was a little much. It was 1 more person, it's not like it was 5 more!
The food was pretty good - nothing over the top. Our waiter was wonderful! I know that we weren't the only large party there but we were at the restaurant for over 2.5 hours! It took him 30 minutes to get the dessert and another 20 minutes for the check. And they completely confused and messed the checks up - I guess that is to be expected for a large party.
I would go here again but I wouldn't bring more than 4 people total.
Went there for a girls night out. Had the strawberry salad which was excellent! My friends had the salmon and another salad and both loved there food as well! Service was iffy. The waitress passed our table a thousand times, when she could have stopped and asked if we needed anything but she was so focused on carrying plates back or someone else's check. She seemed like she needed more training. I'd return and hope to get a different server.
The only thing missing from being a fabulous experience was that our server was slow and our food was tepid at best, even though the taste, preparation, presentation, and portion size for the price was excellent.
The worst meal I have ever had there. I made a reservation. That was good although I am not sure that they had it. We were seated right away. Waited on right away. Had drinks and ordered an appetizer. Waitress was good. I have been here many times and have never had such a horrible meal. There were six of us there. It probably took about an hour to get our food. Only 2 people in our party got a hot meal. One person ordered a chicken sandwich and it came out cold and burnt in the outside, her fries were also cold. I ordered the steak salad. The meat was cold, the lettuce was wilted and the plate hot. One other person got the prime rib special. It looked great when it came out the first time. It was also cold. He sent his back and they must have microwaved aves it, because it was overdone when it came out the second time. Then our plates were not cleared off of the table when we were finished eating. It also took a while to get the check. I could not even eat half of my salad that is how bad it was. The manager was nice about it and took a large amount of money off of the check, but it was just the worst meal I have ever had there and we go once every month or two. It will be a long rime before we return to eat there, if I return there. It just really turned me off.
American cuisine, done right. Pricier than the normal Outback-like places, but you get the value received for value given.
The ahi tuna appetizer and the wood-grilled salmon are my favorites, but even the baked potatoes are memorable.
John was the perfect waiter - personable, efficient, unobstrusive but always anticipating your needs.
I like Firebirds for that special/extra-special occaision.
All things considered this restaurant was ok ... nothing to go out of the way for. I was there for lunch with 2 friends. 2 of us had the chicken with pineapple salsa and one had the chicken cilantro. We shared the white chocolate mousse for dessert. The lunch was good enough but nothing to rave about. The nicest thing about the restaurant was we stayed forever gabbing and because the place wasn't busy at lunch time no one seemed to mind.
Thoroughly enjoyed my meal today. Sat in bar area and enjoyed happy hour. HH wines were Canyon Road so passed and instead enjoyed their signature cocktail, the Double Black Diamond (vodka infused with pineapple). It was fantastic! A number of bar bites were very tasty and plentiful for meal plus . The beef tenderloin medallions were excellent. Also enjoyed crispy cauliflower and firecracker shrimp. Service at bar friendly and attentive! I'd come back again!
Awesome steaks and salmon. Good service. Great food!
I've been here several times and have always enjoyed it. Food is very good and so is the atmosphere and service. It's also close to home and has ample parking.
Love that the restaurant takes reservations. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. Our server--Holly--was attentive and friendly. Love the wide selection on the menu & the food is very good. I do think, however, it is a bit pricey for the neighborhood and would recommend for special get togethers/occasions vs. a place to go regularly.
The last couple of times we've dined at Firebird the food & service were disappointing. We were very pleased that this time the food & service were up to the standards that we've come to expect there. That fact is of particular importance as we are bringing our family next month to celebrate my husband's birthday.
Great baby back ribs and loaded baked potatoe. Manhattan was goood also.
Kenny was excellent. Provided great service.
My wife and I have been to the restaurant a number of times. We had not been back for a year hoping things would be corrected. Appetizer was cold and had to send it back for heating and same with main course.
This was my wife and I's first time visiting Firebirds for our 14th wedding anniversary, and it definitely won't be our last. Everything from the door to the table was incredible. The awesome customer service, the relaxing ambiance, excellent food and service. Plus, it wasn't very expensive. Not a huge space, but everyone in the restaurant looked like they were having a good time. There were also a couple of birthday celebrations taking place. Can't wait to visit again. Definitely a must!
It was really a great Experience! This is one of our go to places.
Have had dinners at Firebirds 3-4 times before this visit. Good foods, service and near my location. Got to parking lot and noticed that lot were almost full, so glad that I placed a reservation earlier in the week.
The food was absolutely delicious...but the service was absolutely horrible! Dinner took 2 hours for three people. Food came out cold. Inexcusable!
Prime rib was excellent as was the service! They also have a great wine list.
Third or fourth time here, and we will return. Main dishes were terrific, sides were fine, enjoyable to eat but nothing that made us do cartwheels or anything. Overall a very pleasant experience in an area that doesn't have many options when looking for a nicer dinner.
Our food was excellent. Friday and Saturday are extremely busy. The service was minimal. Our server asked for our dinner and beverage orders at the same time. At the end of our meal, the server brought the check as the table was cleared. There was no request for coffee or dessert. I recommend eating during an off time.
We dine here often. The menu is varied and excellent -- something for everyone. Order the soft pretzel as an appetizer -- its a bar menu item, not on the main menu, but well worth the experience. Wait staff has consistently been attentive.
Loved the bartender Nina - Quick, attentive, helpful. Food was average - not bad but nothing to drive across town for. A couple of Nina’s drinks improved my overall outlook - Double Down with the double black diamond pineapple vodka drink. I had lobster and spinach queso (skimpy on lobster and watery), Brussels sprout salad (decent yet bland), crab salmon special (tasty but again skimpy on seafood topping), and pumpkin spice post gooey cake (this was REALLY good)! I would definitely return to hang at the bar and snack but not somewhere to bring people unless there were cool with going to Chili’s.
We got a great server, his name was Edwin. He was great and even greater when he could sign with us!
This is the only place I know of in Montgomery County where one can get really rare prime rib, which is the only way I like it. Also wonderful is the Aged Rib Steak cooked Pittsburgh. Those are my two favorites. Other items I particularly like at this restaurant are the crispy bread they serve at the beginning of the meal, the loaded baked potatoes, the string beans and the fried onion rings. If you want a really good meal and you like tender aged beef, this is the place for you.
I am a non-drinker, so I cannot comment on the alcoholic beverages, but I have observed that they have many different kinds of drinks.
First time dining at Firebirds; took our son here for his birthday celebration. The food is decent and the service is good. My only issue with the place is that if the menu says “Smoked Wings,” don’t bring me regular “Deep Fried” wings and pass them off as “Smoked.” I’m a Wing fanatic and I can tell the difference!! That being said, Firebirds is a good place to go grab good meal.
We had a large group of people coming and going. Food was amazing. Eric, our server was awesome. They handled the coming and going of my guests perfectly. Will definitely visit again if the occasion arises.
Excellent service from the wait staff. Very good food.
Nice dinner, quiet, and got great service Nd food even though it was late. Try the Firebirds house red land, yum!
Great food. Chile rubbed salmon was awesome.
The menu offers a great selection and the food is prepared exceptionally well. Samantha was a very attentive and competent server. Our only complaint is the noise level becomes a little high due to the piped in music, poor acoustics and the fact that there isn't an effective barrier (glass doors) between the bar and the restaurant. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Jenny provided great service.
It’s an ‘eh’. Nothing special. Management is absent, front desk is too young to know what to do, drinks are small and weak. Unimpressed. Food is at best, okay. The front desk is awful and so bad it makes it painful. How hard is it to just seat someone at an open table? Talent is lacking.... it’s an ok if you have no other option....
Excellent Prime Rib, but get there early because they do run out sometimes. Also - Love the Salmon Salad with lime vinaigrette dressing.
Big Daddy chocolate cake is the best ever! Food is always fresh and delicious. Service is always courteous and prompt. A bit pricey, but worth it!
Service was bordering on poor. Very slow. Food was ordinary at best. Very disappointing
We are not from the area and discovered the restaurant by chance. We were glad we did.
It was OK. My 14oz rib eye was smaller than my son 's 9 oz filet. Medium rare turned into well. Rings were great, I ll give them a 2nd chance.
The food was good, except that the tenderloin I ordered medium rare was decidedly fully rare in the tenderloin salad. It's rather noisy for my taste and the food is on the expensive side. It's designed for people who drink with their meals, and we didn't.
