Our last hurrah and very enjoyable as always. Excellent food and staff.
We love this restaurant which has become key to our enjoyment of Fowey as a whole. Staff always knowledgeable and fun and the chefs keep a steady flow of tasty, locally sourced dishes flowing to the table
Absolutely lovely food with super fresh and high quality ingredients.
Great atmosphere and great menu, matched with helpful staff.
Super dining experience and would not hesitate to recommend!
£9 for a few skinny clams as a starter? £2 for a small portion of (quite nice) bread? The Fowey Food Festival mains offering was the ubiquitous belly pork - mine was very fatty, so there was actually very little meat - in a hot sauce, served very simply with half a little gem lettuce. Not good enough! Lighting so dim I had to use my phone torch to read the menu. Our conversation was drowned by theirs on the (close) next table. Can't fault the service.
We chose a selection of plates to share. This place is amazing! It would give restaurants in London a run for their money. Is it a future Michelin?....I think so 💖
Fitzroy has all ingredients to make the perfect recipe for success! Design, ambience and food and staff. Thank you.
Third visit here and loved it just as much. The people are very friendly and explain everything on the menu well. We had five plates between two of us including two of the larger Korean plates as part of Fowey Food week. We also had dessert which was probably a step too much, but the burnt marmalade tart and the cheese were well worth it!
I would have given it 5 for food but felt the cavalo nero and pasta dish let it down. The rest of the food was outstanding.
Wonderful food and special wine.
Great cooking with well sourced ingredients, a good wine list with lots of new and interesting wines, a beautiful setting and all with warm and friendly service.
We loved our evening at Fitrozy and will definitely be returning.
Better than London ;o)
Lovely relaxed vibe , great variety of small and larger plates , thoughtful wine list , fun energetic service
Everything we ate was fabulous particularly the sardines
The food was knockout- some very delicious and novel ideas, very well cooked. Choices are served as sharing plates and arrive in order of size of plate. We loved that, but some may not. Theres a good dish of the day offer and the service was very good.
The only bit we didn’t like was that the price of the cheese plate at the end was a bit steep.
We’ll just avoid that next time.
First time ... delicious food ... will most definitely come again soon!
Lovely meal and great atmosphere, will definitely be back soon!
Delicious tapas dishes
Friendly, attentive staff
Fitzroy has been a very welcome addition to Fowey and is a far cry from your normal seaside fare. With a cool Urban vibe and plates of food which change regularly every mouthful is a surprise and a pleasure. We have been a few times but our latest experience was early evening dining on a Sunday to celebrate a family birthday. It might have been the end of a long weekend for the staff but you would not have known it, they were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was superb especially the guinea fowl and celeriac as well as the egg with Jerusalem artichoke purée. A lovely touch was desert with a candle for the birthday girl. The menu is not long but every dish is worth a taste and drinks menu too is well thought through. As expected it is not cheap but worth every penny.
Wonderful menu of local produce prepared and cooked simply but creatively. Fantastic wines too. And extremely well-informed, passionate staff. Great wholesome interior design and ambiance that fits the locality but brings a bit of London (modern Hackney) sophistication and excitement. Gives us yet another reason to arrange another holiday in Fowey.
Great service and food. Love the varied menu and being able to experience lots of dishes.
Menu constantly being changed. All plates were delicious and cooked with care and love. Service was first rate.
Amazing innovative food with impeccable personable service. Lovely good quality wine
Everything was excellent. Just one small gripe, no GLUTEN free bread. Pheasant pie was fantastic, just a little more cabbage would have been welcome.
Our third visit to Fitzroy. A must go to restaurant in Fowey
This place never fails to impress me, delicious food, lovely ambience and super friendly and helpful staff who seem to genuinely care that you have a great time.
Lovely food and good service. The restaurant needs to be warmer and cosier in winter, I was cold all evening and the seating needs to be more comfortable , cushions needed against the wall
Our food was lukewarm to cold but was exchanged when we informed the staff. The room was cold and I needed my coat behind me to protect from the cold wall. The pasta dish we all had was very tasty but even our replacement plates were not hot but certainly warmer than at first.
Food incredible.... utterly delicious & in a very cool, relaxed atmosphere. We came down for just two nights, 4 hours each way, but completely worth it to spend an evening at this restaurant. Fowey is a special place, but with Fitzroy in town it is even more perfect!
Too cold for a relaxed evening. There is very little heating so looked forward to leaving and warm up in the pub.
This has been a common feedback since October so needs sorting quickly.
Everything else very professional so why such a basic management issue?
delicious food, wine & delightful service. we detoured via Fowey & made such a discovery both with the village itself & with Fitzroy. highly recommended. will definitely be returning to the region to discover more — with another Fitzroy meal undeniably on the cards!
Restaurant has no heating so need to wear jumper and jacket however food and service both great
Fantastic meal, brilliant service, but restaurant was really cold!
The food was tasty, the waitress was excellent, and she apologised for the room being cold due to heating problems. The idea of ‘sharing plates coming out of the kitchen to suit the chefs’ is not a good dining experience. The portions were small and expensive.
Absolutely amazing food and great service. A real treat and worth a detour if you’re passing the area.
I have to be honest. The food is absolutely outstanding and is pretty reasonably priced for the quality you are getting. The staff are friendly and helpful.
However, the quality of the wine offering is well below standard relative to the quality of the food and it is overly expensive despite that lower quality. For example we paid £27 for a decanted bottle of cinsault rosé from a box effectively and it wasn't great. Nearby in Charlestown you can get a delicious bottle of Cote de Provence for £24 and it's a lot nicer. Secondly we had a carafe (500ml) of a pinot noir that was very average for £30 for not even a bottle equivalent!
It's a shame as the food is soooo good yet the wine does not match it in terms of quality. The only other thing to say is it's a big space to fill and it feels a little empty with few people there but we will go again as that level of food is difficult to get around here.
We had an excellent Sunday lunch at Fitzroy on 13 October. The corn soup was the best we had ever tasted. We shared a pollock as our main course which was cooked just right and very tasty. The crème caramel for sweet was delicious too. If we lived closer we would be eating there every week.
So glad we made the trip to visit. Food was superb and so was the service. Only comment would be the restaurant is quite cold and it is only early October so slightly worried how warm it would be in Dec / Jan
Best meal we have had in Fowey snd would rate as excellent anywhere. Relaxed environment with informed and friendly staff. Great negroni followed by “small plates” which were nonetheless generous enough to leave us feeling we had had a good meal.
We liked all the courses but perhaps particularly the venison paperdelle and the mackerel cooked in rosemary and capers and served with new potatoes and fennel.
The open kitchen means you csn see the young chef cook everything to order.
Interesting list of wines, reasonably priced and finished with a fine pruneau. Lovely evening
Delicious take on Sunday lunch. The number of plates made for a very filling meal. We had to pause before the dessert!
